Capítulo 15: 「Man of Letters」

The world began to move in the direction the doctor had prescribed.

Each of the letters which were addressed to each one of the members of the student council, were pieces of information. They could share them at their own discretion. Some of these letters had orders, some of them just allowed them to do with the messages as they saw fit.

Shirley's letter detailed the death of her father, at least, the probable death should she not get him away from or stop him from going to Narita on a specified date. Though the letter itself was a half truth, saying that he would be buried alive from a landslide caused by a three way battle between the Black Knights, Japan Liberation Front and the Holy Britannian Empire.

In addition to her letter, there were two tickets for her and Lelouch to go see a play together.

Nina Einstein's letter, while it praised her personal research on how uranium could be used as an alternate fuel source, he wanted her to destroy it before it could be actualized into a weapon of mass destruction. It also warned her against Lloyd Asplund, Milly's future short-termed fiance and Suzaku's inhumane boss.

Lelouch's letter was filled with warnings, particularly ones about Rolo and his father. Rolo's weaknesses and limitations were placed there. How he can only stop the sense of time for a limited instance as it stops his heart whenever he uses it. It also details his father's plans and his father's Geass, how it works. In addition to the fact that his mother isn't truly dead, but is working alongside his father to destroy the world and rebuild it in their image. It also detailed the geass his mother had, the ability to possess other bodies and survive without her old one.

Milly's letter wasn't necessarily something important. It was mainly several phrases that could be used as her 'spells' such as how she always used the spell GUTS to get people to do things for her. Though none of the spells worked, this made the quirky student council president giggle. Though at the end of her letter, there was a single question:

"Do you think it's going to rain today?"

She immediately narrowed her view to that particular question. Why was there a question on her letter? Why was he asking about what she thought of the weather? Did he know she was planning on becoming a weather woman after she graduated?

Nunnally's envelope had a single piece of paper and a colored photograph inside of it. When she opened it, the paper was blank but the photograph was a picture of her brother Lelouch, Suzaku, Graham and herself as children in front of a shrine when they were younger. When she turned the photograph over after noticing a small arrow drawn at the corner, she saw the words 'invisible ink' written on the back followed by 'heat carefully.'

Nunnally giggled quietly at the contents. It was something to read later on, rather than right now. So she put it back into the envelope.

Kallen who had been nervously watching everyone else look at their letters, opened her own and glanced over the contents. There was a picture, a photograph, tucked it and folded in half. When she opened it, there was a picture of C.C. giving the stink eye and sticking out her tongue at the camera.

There was nothing written on the back of the photo.

Tossing the photograph onto the round table, she would open the letter and skim through the contents. In the beginning, it sounded like some sort of fancy, but cheesy, love poem that sounded like he was trying to hard.

She giggled at it, obviously.

The paragraph afterward dismissed the poem, saying it was something for her to giggle at. Which she was briefly taken back by, considering he had predicted she would giggle at it. Her face blushed a light pink, the directed attention she was getting wasn't something she was used to.

It was as if he had chosen to pursue her before he had even met her personally. Another confession of love was written in shakespearean, which looked like a complete copy and paste.

Suzaku's letter was the strangest of them all. Out of all the letters, his was the only one in Japanese. Not only that, but it was written in all Hiragana, not Katakana and not Kanji, but Hiragana. Elementary school level written Japanese. On top of that, the grammar was extremely informal. Compared to the refined letters written in english, the penmanship was sloppy and shorthanded.

Then after he got through the first page, which mainly detailed plans for Japanese Independence through the use of Euphie's power as Princess of Britannia; in which he proposed be in the form of becoming a protectorate state under Britannia.

In contrast to the first page, the second page was written in the ancient language of the Ainu.

"Graham..." Suzaku groaned as he lowered his head and glanced over at the others who were looking over their envelopes. Each one of them had some sort of gift in them. A photograph, tickets, a map, keys to a safe deposit box and other trinkets.

Taking out his phone, he opened a web browser after taking a picture of a few of the Ainu characters. Once he learned what language it was, he began using the writing system to translate it into Japanese so he could read it fluently.

Even though it was written in a dead language that was no longer used, there were no secrets. It was mainly Graham ranting on and on about how if everyone survives this epic, that he has no choice but to invite him to his and Euphy's wedding. Which Suzaku found rather puzzling, not exactly understanding how he knew of his growing feelings for Euphy.

Nunnally looking over Suzaku's shoulder, stared at the Japanese and the Ainu writings, but since she was blind since her arrival in Japan, she couldn't read either one and pouted in disappointment.

"What are you sighing about over there?" Shirley spouted out, getting up from her chair to glance over the three pieces of paper. Lelouch doing the same, soon enough the entire council was interested in the letter Suzaku was getting annoyed and bothered with.

"He definitely wants the free cake," Lelouch commented with a smug expression which matched his tone.
