Capítulo 3: INFLUENCE
Katie woke up earlier that day to jumping into a simulated battle, once again she did excellent. She activated the INFLUENCE mode of her mecha managing to last for five minutes before she had to turn it off. INFLUENCE was the only way for pilots to show their superior skills and most people had a tough time fighting more than two minutes with it on. While in INFLUENCE mode one could accomplish incredible feats increasing the speed at which the mecha would be able to respond to your commands it took a large toll on the mind and left you weak afterwards. That's why it was imperative you had a team member to cover you once it was over.
Everyone's INFLUENCE as such Katie's fell under flow, which allowed her redirect attacks thrown at her. There were several types of INFLUENCE found in the kingdom they ranged from might, precision, clairvoyance, and enhancement those of which were found within the kingdom. There some that said the great guard of Finiria had abilities to manipulate their weapons and even resist certain influences. There was still many powers out there that Katie had no idea about. Of course there were the weaker influences but not many people like to talk about those.
Her family was one of the most influential in the country, having multiple holdings of both mecha factories and the powerful Copper Guard protectors of the kingdom. Her Uncle Victrom Green was considered the best pilot of the empire and even though he was asked to join the Elite Mecha Forces he stayed with the Copper Guard. Most of the Copper Guard had dissolved into the kingdom but the Copper Guard was the oldest fighting unit for the empire. They had been the kingdoms defensive force for the smaller towns for almost three centuries now and were known as the people's guard.
After leaving her friends she received her next assignment. She instantly opened up the BIO's for everyone in her group she had her sources of information and it was easy for her to pull any classified information. The squad leader was a military power hungry suck up, great she would expect he would let her get away with anything she would have to test that later. His INFLUENCE was force, a lower influence that could give you the edge. Next was Fin, she knew him, exceeding in scout capabilities and his INFLUENCE sight, a middle tier influence it could be useful in some situations especially in scouting. Last was Rayla.... great the Killer Queen well maybe she could work with her she went over her sheet.
WTF!!! she thought looking over her fitness and arms records how was this possible outside of a mecha suit she had the highest scores she had ever seen. Let's see her INFLUENCE.... wait there was nothing nobody had a nothing INFLUENCE or she was one of the few people in the world without one. She the worst candidate but she was close to the bottom of the list even with a weak influence she would climb to the middle of the pack of pilots. Too bad what a promising talent wasted, she would do good in the kingdom's Ground Assault Masters they were an elite unit that destroyed mecha's as a specialty with their anti mecha weapons.
After looking after the records she went directly to the transport that was taking them to Constance she was the first to arrive then Fin came in sitting across from her. She went over the mission with him until Rayla arrived noticing her sitting at the end of the truck and finally Peters sat across from them. Trying to win points with them already, he had totally ignored Rayla also. She decided to test him right then. After he spoke she made a snide comment over Rayla. Katie was surprised to see Rayla back off not starting an incident it was rare to see someone with such self composure as a pilot. She turned to examine the instructors reaction but he seemed to be checking his mobile log ignoring the comments completely, yep a suck up if she ever saw one.

Katie activated her influence as soon as she heard the warning from Rayla she had to concentrate to keep the attacks that were obviously coming at her from missing.in the time of ten seconds she weaved her mecha and change the trajectory of some of the attacks to make it out unscathed. Explosions rattled the suit as she dove deeper into the forest. She checked the interface immediately only Rayla and her were left, they had been ambushed too easily in other words the distress call was either tapped or a spy was working for one of the other teams. She looked over the radar but there were no signs or mecha's around her.
Dammit! she thought to herself they have a blocker, she decided to stagger her INFLUENCE. It would be bad if she was too tired to fight them, just as she was about to turn it off a mecha appeared through the tree swinging two hatchets. She jumped back away from the attack getting her rifle split into two.
Surprised the attack had hit she immediately drew her plasma blade, her enemy swung once again. She activated her her flow keeping extra distance this time redirecting the attack to a nearby tree. the axe missed it completely but it was still cut in half. Enhancing INFLUENCE! Now that she knew what she was dealing with she came in close to her opponent waiting for the next attack.
Her opponent swung fiercely as Katie sidestepped then slashed her blade into the mecha's cockpit hearing a heavy hiss and electrical crackling. She quickly jumped back s the mecha exploded, another two took its place flanking her. One began to fire on her as the other blocked her escape.....
