Let us proceed with the ceremony, every one that passes will receive a yellow tier human-grade breathing technique as well as one refined spirit bamboo sword. Yellow is grade 1, orange is grade 2, green is grade 3, blue is grade 4, purple is grade 5, black is grade 6, white is grade 7, Yellow and Orange is grade 8, Yellow and Green is grade 9, and so on. 1 light column is 1 star, 2 light columns are 2 stars, 3 light columns are 3 stars, and so on.

Gathered in the Training field once more, the clan members that are in the body refining stage. Most wore excited expressions and were chatting while others were looking around nervously. There were 10 rings placed in a row in the centre of the training ground. As the Clan head walked up to one of the stages everyone fell silent.
「Welcome everyone to the annual Clan Tournament for our young members in the refining realm.
The rules are simple, No killing blows, No crippling blows, and no Forbidden medicines. First place will receive 10 body tempering pills, a low-grade human tier black iron flying sword, and one low-grade yellow tier technique. Second place will receive 5 body tempering pills a low-grade human tier black Iron flying sword, and a low-grade yellow tier technique. Third place will receive 3 body tempering pills, a low-grade human tier black iron flying sword and a low-grade yellow tier technique. The top 10 will receive 3 body tempering pills and a low-grade yellow tier cultivation technique and the rest will receive a low-grade yellow tier cultivation technique. Everyone will draw lots and the people with matching numbers will be matched against one another; begin.」
Chan Hua walked up the Clan Elder holding the box with the slips in it. Nervously he selected one and read the number 8. For the first round, he would be on the eighth stage fighting against Feng Hao who was currently 9 years old and had a cultivation of the fourth layer of the body tempering realm. Walking up to the stage Chen Hua bowed to his opponent and lept forward using the fourth level of ≪Dragons Traversing the Heavens≫. Seeing the supposed 'trash' jump 9 meters instantaneously Feng Hua was stunned. Flinching and failing to react he felt a cold hand at his neck.
「Number 8, Feng Shan Wins!」
The spectating people were shocked as they knew that their clan did not have any movement techniques that could propel the user forwards 9 meters in a split second.
「Feng Shan, how did you get that skill?」
Turning around at the sound of the voice he discovered Lin Xiao coldly standing there with her arms crossed.
「Feng Shan, tell us how you got that skill, we all know that there is no such skill in the Windless Pagoda. We are all of the same clan, yet you still kept it secret from us. Don't you think you owe us an explanation?」
The Windless Pagoda is split into 9 levels. The members of the clan in the lower body refinement realm could enter the first floor, the second floor was accessible to mid-body refinement realm members. Only Late Body refinement realm members of the clan could access the third floor and so on. Except for a few rare exceptions, generally, only the first three floors were open to the indirect descendants of the clan and the top three floors were only available to the elders, with the ninth floor being only accessible to the patriarch

The jade slip is now rarely used to store and transmit information because of the record slate. Although the record slates are larger than the jade slip they can not only transmit and receive information but also store it; where you need different jade slips to record and transmit information. There are also the replicating orbs which are mainly used to store techniques because from the original if a crystalline storage card (CS Card) is provided the contents will be copied onto it in a one-use format, a format where if the CS card is inserted into a crystal processor it will transfer onto the processor but when it is removed all the data stored on both would be erased.
「You!」Lin Xiao was fuming, she had been thinking of a way to frame Chen Hua for the past two months when this opportunity appeared. Everyone here knew that stealing another's technique was a taboo in the Martial World, but, Lin Xiao thought that she could succeed because when coerced by her words she believed that the others would push Chen Hua to hand the technique over due to their greed. Little did she know Elder Tang was just returning from a short trip and was listening to the situation in the clan. With her plan ruined, she stormed off the training field.
「Let us continue with the competition, and all participants will receive an additional 1 tael of silver!」
Surprised at the additional award the crowd once more became excited. 1 tael of silver could allow an average family of 3 live for around half a month. There are 100 Bronze coins to a tael of silver, 100 taels of silver to a tael of gold, and 100 taels of gold to a crystal amethyst card. Of course, no one actually carried around that much money as they could store in their crystal transaction card or the high-end transition ring.
Chan Hua's next opponent was Feng Peng, who had just broken through to the sixth layer of the body refinement stage. Seeing Chen Hua's movement technique he had decided to go all out from the beginning.

The ≪9 Waves Fist Art≫ was dived into 3 sections, the first through third waves could be found on the second story of the Windless Pagoda, the fourth through sixth levels could be found on the third level of the Pagoda, and the final three levels could be found on the fourth floor of the Pagoda.
「9 Waves Fist Art, Third Wave!」As Feng Peng attacked Chen Hua felt a slight sense of danger, following his instincts he leapt off to the side just narrowly dodging the attack. Seeing as Feng Peng had most likely decided to go all out he to decided to do an all or nothing attack. Retreating a bit he condensed the offensive form of the first level of the ≪5 Elements Pentagram≫.
Sensing the Qi converge in front of Chen Hua, Feng Peng rushed up to him before the attack could finish condensing. Using the third layer of the ≪9 Waves Fist Art≫ Feng Peng Punched out.
Chen Hua could not help but retreat back from the punch out of instinct forgetting that he was already at the edge of the stage. Being caught by surprise he toppled off of the stage.
「Feng Peng, Winner!」
The last match soon ended with Chen Hua being in third place, Feng Peng in second, And Feng Taozi who was in the seventh layer of the Body refining realm winning.
Back in his courtyard Chen Hua was wondering where he would go and buy supplies to begin studying arrays. Due to the city's small size, there were no array masters, or even apprentices and all the equipment in the cities branch of the Mechanics hall was made at the other larger branches and transported there. The most trusted place to get materials for arrays in the continent was the Mechanic's Hall array branch but he would not have the money to order materials to be transported here.
