The woman, dressed in a deep green dress with modest lace trim, looked around with bright, curious eyes, a slight smile at the corner of her mouth. Her companion, a tall, thin man with a stern expression, focused solely on his plate, hardly acknowledging her or the other passengers. She occasionally cast a glance his way, but when he didn't respond, her gaze drifted out the window, as though seeking something beyond the train.
