Capítulo 9: Moving On
-Shen Wei-
After Shen Wei's sudden kissing frenzy, Yunlan simply held the professor, while he grieved the death of someone close to him. He whisper kind words while caressing his silky hair or rubbing his back to show he cared too and let him sob all he need it. After about ten minutes, Shen Wei calmed down and sat over the sleeping bag, ready to face reality.
"Shen Wei... Are you okay now? Can you tell me what happen? Why you believe the professor is dead?" Zhao asked softly as he sat too. Shen Wei smiled at him for a second, before sighing.
"I was inside a dream, although it was more a vision than anything else. There, I was transported somewhere deep inside Mount Kunlun, in which a huge cave host a long tower. The place is full of some fire bats, which make everything glow red and the tower itself, is a door to hell. I met a man... no, I met the remnants of the god of mountains, called Kunlun..." He looked at Zhao, just to see if he recognized his own old name from a time he was such god, but Yunlan simply waited for him to finish his story.
"He told me about the demon tower, which professor Ouyang was forced to open it before been killed, allowing beast demons to escape from their prison and to go out into the mountains. The beasts the professor had drawn, were those demons he had set free with his own hands. I presume, he hastily draw the demons before they decided to kill him and the notes were taken by the guardian of the tower, so they could reach, both you and me." At that Zhao frowned.
"What do you mean by that? Why me? How are we connected to this place?" Zhao asked in a whisper.
"Apparently, your team, you, as well as I, were something else in past lives at the beginning of time. Both of our blood somehow can close the door to hell and the power we once had, can help us kill the remaining demons that had already escaped. If we don't close the door soon, then stronger demons will come out and humanity will be lost. Yunlan... there is so much at stake here, so many people will die if the demons go down to the town... help me. I know it will be more dangerous for all of us, but please help me..." Shen said, as he looked at him with his eyes red for the tears shed just seconds before and Zhao just couldn't resist those lovely emotional eyes. He pulled Shen Wei to him and kiss him very gently before letting him go with his heart racing like mad.
"Whatever you need of me, you will have it, including my life..." He said as he keep his forehead resting on Wei's and his hands on both sides of his neck. "This may sound unbelievable to you, but... you bewitched me in such a way... I was so worry when you fainted. Aahhh... Shen Wei, just who are you to have a hold on me so fully and this fast?" Shen simply smiled. They had been lovers in the past indeed, because there was simply no other explanation for becoming so close in such short amount of time and he already could not picture himself sharing his life with someone else, whatever woman or man.
"Zhao Yunlan... I can ask you the same, because you got me too. I guess your luck was indeed too strong for me to defy it..." Shen whisper and Zhao smiled.
"Yeah, I'm such a lucky bastard..." Zhao whisper and Shen smiled.
"Then I'm one too..." Shen whisper, closing the tiny distance to give Zhao Yunlan his heart in this lifetime as well as he did with past others.
-Yunlan-
After a final long kiss, both of them got out of the single erected tent and joined the rest of the group, which sat around a small camp fire. As soon as the professors saw Shen Wei, they stood to ask him if he was alright and once he assured them he was, they sat again to share the experience. Then Shen Wei told the whole group about the demon tower under Mount Kunlun and about the professor's death.
"Are you sure, Shen Wei? Maybe it was all a dream." Guo said, not really believing about Ouyang's death.
"I'm so sorry Guo, but I assure you, it was not a dream, the same way what happen when I was out is also not a dream. Professor Ouyang was like a father to me and you know that, so if I had even the smallest doubt that he is still alive, I will move heaven and earth to bring him back... but he is gone, Guo. I'm sorry..." Shen whisper at the end, almost letting new tears fall down his face, but he swallow his sadness as Yunlan put one of his hand on his back to let him know he was there for him and Guo needed for him to be strong too.
"It can't be... It... it... can't be!" Guo said before standing and begin running back to the tunnel they came from.
"Wait Guo!" Shen Wei stood too and was about to follow him, but both Yunlan and Chu stop him.
"Stay here, I will bring him back for you. Just give him a moment to let it sink." Chu said before running after the heartbroken young man.
"Shen Wei... don't worry, Chu will take care of him." Zhao whisper.
"I know..." He said, turning to the professors who were also shocked with the news. "Professor Ying Chun, Ye Huo, Lai Su, Tan Xiao and guide Xiao Bai... please go back to the town. I plan to keep moving on until reaching the demon towers, but that journey is too dangerous for me to ask you to come with me."
"No. Shen Wei, we already lost a good friend, are you asking us to give up on another?" Ying Chun asked.
"I know it sounds cruel, but please... indulge me this one time. Someone needs to seal the entrance of this cave and warn the town in case we fail..."
"The guide can do that..."
"No, you all most go. I'm already putting the guardians at risk, please don't force me to add more." Shen said with more emotion that he intended. He still had the death of the professor too fresh in both mind and heart. Seen that Shen was begging to be affected again, Zhao wasted no time to intervene.
"Alright, you guys were properly asked to go back and to be honest, I agree with professor Shen, so I'm afraid you will have no choice but to go. I told you before, I'm in charge here and you will follow my instructions as I order them. I assure you, I had enough ropes to tie you all from head to toes if necessary."
"You wouldn't dare!" Ying said furiously.
"Oh, he would alright. Actually he had done it quite a few times already." Lin said, remembering the times he tie up some nasty clients, a few years back.
"That's..."
"Please, professor Ying Chun... I understand the reluctance to leave me behind, but please... I beg you." Shen said as he kneel down. He was willing to do that and more if it keep them alive.
"Wow... Shen Wei!" Zhao hastily moved to pull him up. "There is no need to go that far."
"I will, if necessary." Shen said as he looked at the even more shocked professor.
"Professor Ying, I think Zhao Yunlan had said it right and we don't have much of a choice. We all know professor Shen and how kind he truly is. If there is a higher risk for us, he will do everything in his power to make us go back, the same way he had done all he could to find Ouyang. Let's not disrespect him, when he is trying to save us all." Professor Lai intervened.
"I agree. As much as we hate it, if we insist in going further and end up been killed, he will regret it for a lifetime. He said they had been chose and to be honest, I can't even doubt that after seen with my own eyes what kind of things this place had. Fire bats, a screeching beast, lighting... this is not a place for common humans." Professor Tan added.
"I..."
"Okay, now that is decided... you! Xiao Bai... Can you bring them back to the village on your own? I will sent a few of my guards with you as far as the entrance of this cave, after that, can you mange? We need to seal the entrance, just in case we fail, so we will not be able to go down with you. Can you?" Zhao asked in such an authority tone that he flinched.
"Hum, yes... it's an easier descend. We are not too far from the town, just a day." The guide said.
"Alright, then go ahead and prepare. You got fifteen minutes."
"But what about the beasts?" Ying asked a bit frightened.
"You don't need to worry about those. They are all inside that hole at the bottom of the cliff. We will be the ones facing such creatures." Wang assure them and after Guo and Chu came back, both groups were ready to move. Shen Wei sent them off with a smile, a charming one that make Zhao bow to keep the man alive no matter what.
Then, as those who chose to go down the hole and have a look, begin to get ready, Zhao approached Shen with a set of ropes and harness. Then he shamelessly put them on him, making the professor blush so madly as he worked on his waist and down, that the rest of the group couldn't help but laugh.
"Yunlan, please, I can do it myself."
"Ah, but Wei... you will go down with me. I can't have you passing out on me again, so is this or I sent you back to town too. What do you prefer?" The answer was obvious and Zhao enjoyed seen the professor go extra red.
"Fine! Have it your way..." Shen said, resigning himself. Although, deep inside, he didn't mind Yunlan's touch at all, he was just embarrass that he did it in front of others and fully enjoy it. Ah, he was such a teaser.
"Good. Now, hold on babe, we are going down." Zhao whisper to him as he pull him close and then begin the descend over the face of the cliff. Soon after, Lin and Zhu join them and with that, they begin their journey down to the mouth of the now, land of demons.
