After being in the infirmary for two days, it felt great being able to move again, then again, Lilith did wish she was there just a little more. The news at her duel was apparently popular, rumors were spreading quickly about her. Lord Yasin handed her clothing, steel chain mail and some armor. He told Lilith to meet him at the Great Oak tree on the left in the center of the town, Lilith had quickly changed into her new clothing, she felt like a real military soldier, maybe she will be one day but not yet. She explored the town for a bit, it was quite lively. Merchants shouting to get their shop going, taverns getting customers drunk and getting them to have a good time. She wanted to go visit a few of them but she didn't want to attract too much attention, she minds her own way before she reached the tree that Lord Yasin wanted to meet her. When she did, she saw Lord Yasin talking to a soldier. It looked as if he was giving an order to the man, Yasin pointed towards the gate of Brackenholme. "He wants him to leave," spoke the voice. Lilith then realized the man was wearing red and gold, she looked around and saw most soldiers wore a dark green and with dark leather, she could see a bear on the chest of the soldiers. When she looked back at the different soldier, most of it was the same except the colors and the symbol embedded in the chest of the breastplate. Lilith walked up to Lord Yasin, she had a bad feeling about the soldier and she knew why.
"Sir, get out here now!" ordered Lord Yasin.
"Is that how you treat your higher-ups?!" shouted the soldier. "Know your place cub."
Lilith could see the Lord's face turning red, she knew this was going south if she approached but she had to stop before the two killed each other. "SILVER!" the voice's sound caused Lilith to sway a little, she focuses on the weapon of the soldier and could clearly see a silver sword. She remembered that her father told her that silver was banned due to how easy it can kill people like her, she never understood what her father meant and she still doesn't understand but if the voice in her head was terrified of a man having a silver sword, it meant business. She walked up to the two men and immediately Yasin looked at Lilith, she looked pretty. Her silver hair drawback, her eyes were focused on his, the clothing that he had given her fitted perfectly on her slender body and curves.
"Is this my opponent?" asked the Lion Guard.
"I...uhh…" falter Yasin
"Yes, I am, sir," Lilith spoke, she tried to be respectable but she knew that there was no such thing as respect because deep inside of Lion Guard's eyes, it reminded her of Drew. The dark green eyes also reminded her of her mother.
"I see, a small little girl is protecting the small civilization of Brackenholme," said the Lion Guard. "Ha! I highly doubt that a pathetic girl like you can defeat me, a Lionguard."
"At least I can hold my tongue," insulted Lilith. Yasin places his hand on Lilith's shoulder, she could tell that Yasin was worried and by all means, he should but Lilith couldn't help it but protect the people who can't defend themselves.
"Why you little..!" Yasin shushed the Lion Guard and the two walked away, leaving Lilith at the entrance of the Great Oak tree.
One of the Brackenholme's soldier escorted Lilith into the Great tree, where she had to be walked all the way to the top of the tree. The tree was hollowed out and there could be vines that were crawling down the tree. When they reached the top of the tree, one of the soldiers approached Lilith.
"Miss, I hate to intrude you little fun but you're probably dead," said the soldier.
"Wow. To be honest, I really couldn't tell if I was dead or not but since you have reassured me, I feel a lot better," Lilith said sarcastically. "Tell me something I don't know."
"He can easily kill you," said the soldier. "Thanks to that silver sword." Lilith wasn't getting annoyed, she just felt like she was being insulted. "All girls should work in the kitchen while the boys do the hard work," she didn't understand why this was a common saying and she sure didn't like it at all.
"Why is he carrying a silver sword?" Lilith asked.
"The new king has been supplying them with it," replied the soldier. "Makes it easier to kill anyone who dares defy his ways."
"Yeah, which is why you shouldn't have accepted his challenge," said a voice behind Lilith, she jumped and almost kicked Lord Yasin in the side if he didn't grab her leg.
"For the old king, don't scare me like that my Lord," said Lilith, Lord Yasin released her leg and lead her into an office. She looked around the room, surprised at how small it was. There was a table that had a lamp and stacks of paper piled up, there was an open window behind the chair of the table, two dark green banners with the bear symbol. Lord Yasin took a seat at the front of the table and rested his chin on his hand, Lilith stood at the entrance of the room and she noticed that her Wolfshead blade next to the side of the table, she wanted to grab it and run but she knew it wasn't the right choice to do. She wasn't a person to abandon people, she would fight for them.
"So why did you stand up for me?" Lord Yasin asked. "And please, take a seat."
Lilith felt like she was intruding, this wasn't her place but something was shouting at her like she has been in this place before. She took a seat on the harden oak floor.
"If you can't defend yourself, let someone else do it for you," said Lilith. "At least that what my mother told me, she wasn't wrong about it but there is baggage that not even you can carry. You let people stomp on you, they put you down, I wouldn't say I speak from experience but I have a feeling that I might have."
"You very cryptic, miss," said Lord Yasin. "So you lend your hand out when there is a hint of danger, courageous I will say but that can get you killed. Just like the old king."
Yasin got up and picked up the Wolfshead blade, he looked at the wolf head embedded at the hilt of the sword.
"I used to know your father, he was a brave man. He gave his most loyal soldiers this blade in a show of respect and honor," said Lord Yasin.
"I wouldn't say that my father was a brave man, more like an idiot for trying to kill his own daughter," Lilith said quite bluntly.
"I'm not talking about Jesper Redmire, I'm talking about Wylan Wegar," said Lord Yasin he handed Lilith the Wolfshead blade. "Your real father and the old king."
