Ryth was currently attempting to figure out how one oughta cook a spider leg.
(Do you just cook it, or do I try to skin off these bristling hairs...? Gah I'll just stick it in the fire and cook the meat within!)
After it was pretty crisply burnt, a horrible smell wafted off of it.
"That would be all that burnt hair, yeah?"
Ryth was hungry, and at his current ability, food poisoning wasn't too serious as he could catch it pretty early and just self-purify. So he just decided to attempt to just bite off a chunk of leg, and slowly chewed the tough, crispy and gritty meat.
"...well that was disgusting."
Looking at how it tasted, would be even get any money for this meat? Sure it increased your chances of getting a nice boost to your jumping ability once you evolved, but would anybody even care?
"Guess this will be my food for the next few days..."
That wasn't exactly what he'd call a lucky thing!

Upon entering the Association, a red-bearded dwarven lad yelled out "OI! YOU WITH THAT HORRIBLE STENCH! YOU THE ONE WHO FOUND THAT SPIDER YESTERDAY? DID YOU SH*T YOURSELF?" Ryth felt embarrassed as many looks of disgust and confusion looked at him from the other Adventurers passing by.
"No don't worry, that smell is just burnt hair!"
"YOU SET YOUR HAIR ON FIRE? WHAT KINDA FOOL ARE YOU?!"
Ryth immediately felt that this dwarf was indeed an idiot. 'Do I LOOK burnt to you?!'
"Never mind that lad, but quickly now. You the one who found that spider?"
'Who was this dwarf? And why the heck did he know about that spider-oh Lela just gave me a look. Bet she told him. Yeah that apologetic shrug certainly showed some guilt on her part.'
Seeing Ryth's nod affirming his suspicions, the dwarf let out a barrel-chested laugh, shaking his stocky armored frame, as he pulled off his iron helmet and ran over, pumping Ryth's arm in a handshake as soon as he was within reach.
"Well met young man, well met! I'm a 4th Stage Fighter who works at this here branch of the association, Burdock be my name. I need to ask y'all bout that critter you found!"
The changing accents and styles of speaking threw Ryth, as it seemed completely random, but he discarded it to focus in on the dwarfs words. A 4th Stage Fighter working in this branch wanted to talk to him cause of some spider???
After going to an office on the 4th floor, the dwarf let Ryth get seated before what he took to be a strange coffee table, but as the dwarf sat down he realized it was in fact his desk!
'Glad I didn't say anything before he sat down...'
"So here's how it is young man. This area is essentially a First to Third stage zone. So we don't get many above the 3rd Stage, understandably. Most here are in the 2nd Stage, and usually leave for more dangerous areas to further their leveling. So when a creature with venom capable of killing almost any human in the first or second stages shows up so close, we pay attention."
Ryth was filled with understanding. (So that's how it was!) He nodded in agreement, and at the dwarfs behest, explained the circumstance...
"So it only revealed itself after you stuck a hand in its nest? Which was in the tree?"
"Yessir."
"Hmm... I have a team of 2nd Stage Adventurers, I'd like you to lead the to the Tree Spider's nest. I want to make sure we understand this newly discovered threat clearly."
"It's possible this is some sorta plan, alliance, or other trickery from those damn Goblins." {As a creature evolves, so does its intellect, so high level goblins, or hobgoblins, are quite the annoying adversary.}
Ryth nodded and followed the dwarf down one floor to see a team of 4 Adventurers geared up. They had one armor wearing 7'3" lizardfolk who positively towered over all there, with a massive war axe on his back. A lithe, tall elf with a staff and quiver on his back was obviously a mage, while another elf was of shorter build, about 5'7", closer to Ryth's height. This elf had a healers staff, and was whispering with a human fighter with a broadsword on his back.
These four 2nd Stage Adventurers looked up as they sensed the dwarves aura, and saw him with a rather unremarkable teen, with plain clothes, an Adventurers pack, and two knives at his belt. The healer sensed a kindred energy, and wondered why this healer seemed to have no focus for his mana. Was he just... poor? That much of a noob?
The dwarf cheerily called out "hey guys, this is the kid who found that weird spider I told y'all I heard about. So he's gonna show you where it came from, so be careful out there, alright?"
"Anyways I gotta handle the specifics of a trade with Contren City over some of our lumber, so I'll leave you to it! Make sure to report the results of what you find to me, and let me know if you see any more spiders, yeah?" The dwarf happily walked off, glad to get that quiet kid off onto the group.
They didn't know what to think seeing Ryth's expression... something about such a young-looking person being so serious just didn't seem right!
The Lizardman looked at the back of the dwarf with no small amount of amusement, and then exchanging a glance with his teammates, shrugged helplessly. They'd been paid to look into it after all, though this kid didn't need to know that.
"So... happy to be working... with... you...?" Ryth cautiously let out, feeling somewhat awkward about the situation.
Looking at this poor lonesome healer, the party of 2nd Stage Adventurers felt themselves only able to laugh!
