Capítulo 5: CH. 5 Preliminary Round
"I want you to be the judge for both groups." the same sentence that Senzaemon has said to Ryu was spinning around in his mind. He was now in the stadium and he was preparing for a grand entrance which Senzaemon has planned for him.
"Damn that old man," Ryu was seated in the VIP room that has a monitor for both Stadium. A special room that was made by Senzaemon. He planned that after the student has finished cooking the curry. Someone will carry the food to the room for him to judge.
Nex to him was Senzaemon as he was looking at Soma and Akira in Block A. "Found someone interesting?" asked Ryu as he saw that Senzaemon was looking at the two intensely. Senzaemon didn't answer but nod instead. Ryu looks at the screen and found that from both Block A and B.
There is only a few that would worth his attention, because after 100 years of experiencing many different kinds of cuisine. He has a very high standard for cooking and food. Senzaemon handed him a microphone, which Ryu looks at him weirdly, "Are you serious?" asked Ryu. Senzaemon laughed and nodded at his assistant.

Block A
The students that were participating in the Preliminary Round was cooking. Suddenly, a huge monitor came down from the roof, which catches everyone attention. The monitor shine and Senzaemon appear causing an uproar in the audience. "Today, there will be a very special guest that will judge your food," said Senzaemon and the monitor show Ryu who was sitting next to him.
"Owner!" shouted Ryoko in surprised. Erina who is sitting in the VIP room was shocked. 'Why is the owner with Grandpa?!' thought Erina.
Block B
Megumi was shocked as she was standing still. "Owner!" shouted Hisako. As the audience was surprised, Nao was laughing creepy. "So that the owner of the store, which my lovely Erina-sama went every week. Hehehehe!" and the surrounding students back away from her.

Location: Special VIP Room
Ryu was looking at the excited Senzaemon, who was smiling like a kid. 'Why did I become friend with him?' Ryu shakes his head. After a few minutes, the first student food has been served. The door open as a waiter came and placed the plate in front of Ryu.
Ryu and the other Judge start to eat the curry. There was some praise from the judges, but Ryu was sitting still and not taking another spoon. The Judges give the point as it was very low, causing the boy to face to pale. He looks at the monitor and saw something that scares him and the audience.
It was Ryu stare, no one was talking and it was very quiet. Ryu stands up, took the plate and poured it into the bin. "Bad" was the only word from him. The boy knew that he had failed and collapsed on the floor.
The Preliminary Round continues and Ryu was displeased by some dish, and he did not touch them. As someone who has trained in using the [Divine Deity Sense], his sense is stronger than other people by ten times. He also has the Eye of Insight(Gourmet God) which cause him to know the process and the taste without eating.
However the time that he was waiting for has come, as Nao placed her "Jet Black Curry" to the judges and she was looking at the screen. Ryu was looking at the curry in front of him and smile slightly. He and the judges start eating the curry and there was only silence until the Orie Sendawara and the other judges start to explain and score the curry. (Like in the anime)
The score which Nao got was 84 causing an uproar by the audience, but she was not looking or listening to them as she was looking at Ryu. Suddenly the score from 84 change into 85 as Ryu give 1 point for the food.
"The food was not bad, however, the smell really causes a displeasing taste into the food. If there was no smell, I would give 2 or 3." said Ryu as he was looking at Nao and sending a tiny bit of pressure to her. He knew that she could grow and develop more.
The competition continues as Ryu keeps giving 1 or 2 to the students, while he gives Megumi and Takumi 3 and Alice, Hisako and Ryo 4. Finally, it was Soma and Akira turn, Ryu was looking at them intensely and smile. Senzaemon saw that Ryu was interested in some kids, he smiles as he planned to bring Ryu into the school as a Consultant or a teacher.
The waiter served Akira's dish and placed it in front of him. Ryu took the spoon and start eating the food. Once the food enters his mouth, an intense flavor explodes which was the taste of different spices. He took another bite and smile. "It's good," said Ryu which causes an uproar in the audience, as throughout the competition, he always says "Bad" and "Fine".
Akira was looking at Ryu and smile, while Soma frowned as he heard Ryu word. "However, the spices is too mixed up and they don't combine well. It doesn't leave a good taste after the food was gone," said Ryu, which the judges agree. Akira was staring at Ryu and Soma smile happily.
Finally, it was Soma turn and Ryu eat it. "How did you make it?" asked Makito Minatozaka as he couldn't stop eating. "I heard their voice," said Soma. "Heard their Voice?" "What?" audience was looking at each other and start talking. Suddenly they were interrupted by a laugh, "HAHAHAHA!".
Everyone looks at the monitor and found that Ryu was laughing. "Heard the Voice? Are you sure, Soma-kun?" asked Ryu as he was smiling. "Yes" answer Soma confidently. "The food was good Soma, but where is the curry?" asked Ryu as he didn't really taste the spices or the flavor of the curry. Soma who was smiling, stop and frowned a little, seeing that Soma was not answering, Ryu gives him 5.
The competition was about to end as suddenly there was a shouted. "This competition is not fair!" Everyone looks at the man, "What right do you have to judges us?" shouted the man who was the students that failed, because Ryu poured his food in the bin. After the man shouted, every student that failed start shouting as well.
"Senzaemon," called Ryu. "Huh?" "Go and prepared and I will be cooking," said Ryu and went out of the room. Senzaemon who was sitting next to him sighed and nodded at his assistant. "He is really angry," said Senzaemon and look at Ryu as he walks out of the room.
