When Magna approached his father, he saw the twins with a light blush on their faces while his father was sporting a huge grin.
Annoyed, Magna leapt at his father as he yelled, "Hey, old fart. What are you doing to my sisters!?!"
With those words, everyone froze in place for a couple seconds before Magna's father burst into hearty laughter. He pried Magna from his chest as he said, "I did nothing, you brat. I was just asking how you all met."
Magna slowly relaxed. He glance at his father and asked, "Then, can they live with us?"
This time, Magna's father face slowly became serious as he said, "I can allow it, considering everything they've been through. However, we are only a small family in a small village. If we take in two more mouths to feed, we won't be able to support our own family."
A resolute light glimmered in Magna's eyes as he said, "I'll take responsibility and work to support our family."
Joshua, Magna's father, burst into laughter again as he patted his son's shoulder and said, "That's my son!"
Due to Magna's mental age, he didn't find anything wrong with saying he was gonna help out his family. The girls, however, blushed as all they heard him say was 'I'll take responsibility…'
Suddenly, Joshua stopped laughing as a bitter look appeared on his face. Kneeling down to Magna's height, Joshua softly grabbed Magna's shoulders as he said, "Magna there's one thing you need to know before we visit your mother."
Magna felt something was wrong with how his father was talking. Fighting the sinking feeling in his gut, Magna shakily asked, "What is it dad?"
Joshua took a deep breath before he painfully said, "Your mother… is crippled."
A deep chill spread through out Magna's stomach as he blankly muttered, "…What?"
Seeing his son's reaction pained him as Joshua continued, "She went into labor while escaping a pack of beowolves. I managed to stop the grimm from killing her but the damned beasts took her eyes and severed several nerves in her left arm."
Magna's only reply was silence as he stared at the floor in a daze. Worry covered the twins and Joshua's face as his father lightly tapped Magna's shoulder as he softly asked, "Magna… you alright?"
Suddenly, a dense flurry of malicious aura burst from Magna's body as he started hyperventilating. The world started to spin as he clutched his head and roared in pain. It was his fault. He blamed himself. If only his mother didn't try and protect him, maybe she'd still be able to see and use her left arm.
The more he thought about this, the more dense and malicious his aura became. His adopted siblings and father could only watch in shock as his aura literally began to form the outline of a huge demon fox with nine tails.
As the seconds passed, the outline became more and more lifelike. Suddenly, it 'stared' at Magna's father and roared. The farmers around them all clutched their ears in an attempt to stop themselves from becoming deaf while Argo and Luna fainted. Joshua, however, remained strong in front of this figure as he quickly wrapped his son in a warm embrace.
With sweat trailing down his forehead, Joshua hugged his son tightly as he yelled, "MAGNA! CALM DOWN! YOUR MOTHER IS STILL ALIVE AND WELL! THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS!"
His screams seemed to bring Magna back as tears spilled from his eyes. The fox outline behind Magna slowly disappeared, glaring at Joshua until the end.
In a hoarse voice, Magna painfully said, "It's all my fault… if only I-"
Magna never got to finish as Joshua slapped him across the face. Before Magna could react, he was brought face to face with Joshua as the later glared into Magna's eyes.
"Listen here Magna. There was literally nothing you could have done. Hell, this is already the best outcome because we could've lost not only your mother but your little sister as well. Don't beat yourself up about things you could've done."
Magna sniffled as he suddenly found it hard to stare his father in the face. This didn't stop his instincts from taking action as he silently clung to the side of his father's body.
Joshua didn't say anything as he softly carried the unconscious twins, apologized to the farms for the trouble, then started walking towards what Magna guessed was their house.
This time their house was more on the inside of the village as there were already enough guards and hunters station around the perimeter. The village itself was extremely lively as children could he seen running around, playing all sorts of games while the housewives could be seen talking while cleaning clothes around a huge well.
While Magna was taking in the sights, Joshua came to a stop infront of a cozy looking home. Magna clutched Joshua's side with even more strength. He still didn't know how to face his mother. Feeling a warm hand on his shoulder, Magna turned to see Joshua gentle smiling at him while gesturing towards the door.
Taking a deep breath, Magna slowly let go of Joshua as he shakily made his way over to the door. Before he could even touch to doorknob, the door slowly opened. Magna silently stared in a daze at the face behind the door as tears slowly fell from his eyes.
Infront of him was his mother, Emily. She still had that gentle smile on her face yet her beauty was marred by the huge claw mark across her eyes while her left arm was held in a makeshift sling. She stood with her eyes closed as she released a giggle and seductively said, "Honey, didn't I tell you that sneaking up on me was useless? Even though I'm blind, I'll still hear you coming from a mile away."
Joshua turned red while Magna completely ignored what she said. Instead, he choked as he squeezed out the word, "M-mum…"
The seductive look on Emily's face disappeared as her lips quivered. She shakily reached her hands towards Magna's face as she said full of hope, "…Magna?"
Suddenly, all the feelings Magna was bottle up burst out as he leapt at his mother while crying and shouted, "MUM!"
Emily hastily tried to catch Magna even though she couldn't see as she cried and screamed, "MAGNA!"
Their reunion, however, was cut short as Magna suddenly started screaming in pain. Emily turned pale as she let him go and asked, "Magna, what's wrong?"
Gritting his teeth, Magna painfully said, "My right hand… it hurts… it hurts so much..."
After a couple seconds, the pain started to reside, allowing Magna to finally catch his breath. Under the watchful eyes of his father, Magna turned over his right palm, revealing a white sun tattoo right in the center.
