Capítulo 43: Pleading

What followed next was not within Nia's expectation. The table occupied by those women had four chairs. They could have asked for an additional chair but they asked for Nia's table. Her was a bigger one with six seats. The four women were already offended by Nia due to Yougal's apparent interest in her. They told the newly arrived friend about it. Now she wanted Nia ousted from the table near Yougal Lucas.

Ahana immediately recognized Nia as the woman from those photos she had burnt in Yougal's study room. Five long years might have passed but she could not forget the woman who came to stand on the way of her dream to become Yougal Lucas' wife. Ahana was so content with her success in stopping Yougal Lucas' engagement that she never imagined of ever coming face to face with this woman.

She had thrown coquettish glances at him soon after she stepped into the cafe. But her efforts went unnoticed and he was gazing at a woman with the look of a lost soul on his face. She did not see the woman's face that time. Now she recognized her, she wanted her out of Yougal's sight.

Radha, the waitress refused her politely which made Ahana more angry. The stuff were instructed not to divulge Nia's identity to the customers. Not only because Nia was the owner, as per their restaurant policy they would not insult a customer by asking to leave a table to accommodate some other. The stuff would rather ask a noisy, rude customer to leave.

Nia was already annoyed with the first four women's loud chattering and laughter, their pathetic attempt to attract those four men. She thought of having a chat with the manager, Laxmi Mahanta who was a retired lawyer, now writing her first book based on real life court cases. Her cafe would not cater to the tauntrum of so called high class ladies.

Noise and loud talking were something every adult avoided in this place. Here people came to seek a quite ambience. No one here would shout except the children. Of course this new woman was not shouting but she was loud and rude. Nia frowned at the women's irascible behaviour.

Yougal Lucas saw the drama and understood what Ahana wanted to achieve. Nirvana was harmed by her scheming. He would not allow this vile woman to humiliate Nia. He decided to leave his table and sit with her. Before he could interfere to protect his woman another three women came into the cafe and stopped at Nia's table. He recognized Ayesha Umar, who was Nia and Rhianna's friend.

Ayesha, Nia's cousin Monikarnika and the latter's friend Pynsuklin Syiem came to spend the afternoon with Nia as they knew she was in the city despite it being a Sunday today. Rhianna was coming too. They sat down at the table with smiles but guessed something was wrong at the place. Then they heard a female voice shouting angrily. Yeah she at last started shouting, Nia thought.

"I've been telling you, we want that table. Now another three have seated there. Tell them to go to another table." Ahana screamed at Radha, pointing to Nia's table.

"I'm sorry ma'am. It's against our policy." Radha was polite.

"You'll refuse me for some commoners." Ahana glared at Nia as she rebuked Radha.

The so called commoners turned their attention to Ahana. Her high volume dialogues were hard to be ignored. They immediately found out that they were the object of the drama this peevish drama queen was enacting. They glared back at Ahana. Only Nia sat without any reaction.

"What's all this is about?" Mornikornika asked in an irritated tone.

Nia stood up and walked to the book shelves. She stopped after taking a few steps, then turned to face her friends. She was a very patient person but she did not consider herself as the goddess of patience.

She gave out a small laugh, a very low sound, devoid of anger or sarcasm and indifferent like her face. "They want our table. They have been trying to get the attention of the gentlemen on that table." Under Yougal Lucas' very gaze she pointed to his table with a tilt of her head.

"I was on the way of their sight. She," Nia paused and stared apathetically at Ahana, "She tried hard to hit on the one in blue shirt." Nia smiled coldly, Yougal winced at the masked sarcasm and dry humour. "But failed tragically." Nia ended her summary.

'Her voice is as gentle as the rain filled cool breeze. Her words are sharp like a butcher's knife.' He slightly shook his head. Only his girl had the ability to do that.

Yougal Lucas saw that she was about to leave the cafe. He could not let her leave without expressing to her the feelings that had sprouted in his heart for her. Those feeling were now plants with sweet scented flowers blooming in them. Waiting for the right momemt might make things difficult for him. He now believed that there was nothing such as right moment in love. For him, every single moment with her was right moment.

Nia kept the book on the shelf and walked back to their table.

"Let's leave. I want to go to the beach. The rain has stopped falling."

Her companions left the table and followed her. As she walked past Radha, she stopped.

"Tell the manager to get rid of noisy customers in future." As Radha nodded her head, she along with her friends walked towards the door.

"Please wait." A voice pleaded from behind her. Nia did not stop.
