Australia is a country/continent that is considered by many as hell on earth. Besides the whole being upside down thing, Australia is also infested with giant deadly insects and animals. There was also the whole burning for months on end thing that happened a while back.
In some part due to all the negatives, Australia hasn't really fought any wars on home turf.
There was however the Great Emu War that Australia lost...
Men armed with machine guns, lost to flightless birds. They heavily underestimated the intelligence, speed, and tankiness of emus and were thus utterly decimated (morally). They even brought a journalist along to film the humiliation.
