The newer generations grew up playing on at least one of Nintendos devices like the Nintendo Entertainment System, the Gamecube or the Nintendo DS. Nintendo has had a huge positive impact on the gaming industry. One of the greatest feature ever introduced was save files. Almost all games on the market wouldn't be playable without a save/checkpoint system.
The only console I have ever had is the Wii U and there quite a few nifty features. One of them would be how it is possible to play all the great Wii games on the Wii U. It is especially interesting how it opens the original Wii menu when you insert a Wii game.
The main difference between a Wii and the Wii U is the gamepad. The gamepad introduced the wonders of a controller with a touchscreen. It also made it possible to use the gamepad standalone as long as you are in the range of the Wii U station. Furthermore it is possible to use the gamepad as a TV remote. With some games, you can even use the gamepad as the split screen. This means that the TV screen won't be split and each player will have a full view of the situation.
In case you just want to lie down on the couch and you can still use the Wii U to browse the Internet and watch videos on the big screen.
Another difference between the Wii U and the Wii would be how the discs edges are round. This makes it feel better to hold.
