"Guys guys guys, guess what I saw just now?" Laofei, the best gossiper of the castle spoke in a seemingly hushed voice which was loud enough to be clearly heard even in the Blue Lotus pond a few metres away from the guards.
"My cold brother, was actually speaking gently to a maiden." Laofei waited for the expressions on the guards.
However,
"Did you drink again fei?" the guards obviously weren't going to believe this ridiculous statement about the ever so restrained and cold prince.
Ignoring the look of disgust Laofei continued, "He was even looking at her with eyes full of love."
"pfft...eyes full of love, what the heck is that." The Head guard's right hand man almost went into a coughing feet while laughing out loudly.
"What do you know about love, you old monk." Laofei gave a scornful side eye at the guard.
"Who are you calling an old monk. At least I am better than you, a Casanova." He argued back feeling bitter in his heart about being single for such a long time.
"Fine, Don't believe.Up to you. hmph." Laofei left in a huff immediately.
"Tch, let's go buddies, don't dilly dally. We have to properly guard the venue now." The leader of the group announced in a authorative tone to control the small whispers between the guards who were obviously still in a slight doubt about the truth in Laofei's statement.

Did he really fall for someone else...No way how can that be even true....He hasn't ever taken a serious look at any girl...I must be just overthinking, Laofei likes to joke around all the time anyway." Cara shook her head in exasperation and hurried to approach the east palace to still have a good talk with her mother to discuss about her feelings.
"Wishing you a good day Royal Mother." She knelt in front of the royal consort, Shi Nuananuan.
"Rise, no need for formalities between us, are you suffering from any grievance princess? Tell aunt." Nuananuan said while gently helping Cara up.
When Shi ZhiXhi was 15, She along with her sister Shi Nuananuan was taken in the WanChi palace as concubines to strengthen the relationship between the two countries. Shi Nuananuan and Shi ZhiXhi conspired together to plan the Wan family's fall to revenge their parents however unexpectedly ZhiXi fell in love with the righteous, upright and honest HeShao, unknown to the fact that despite having a handful of concubines his only beloved woman was his first consort, Li Shiyun. Overcame with jealousy ZhiXi meticulously plotted Li Shiyun's murder. He Shao came to know about the truth very soon, due to rigorous investigation and locked her up In the Prohibited Jail. Unable to bear with the inhumane and beastly torture ZhiXi commited suicide after just a few days.
The history of royal palaces have always been a dark mystery covered from the eyes of the peasants only showing them the bright side of the coin. After begging mercy and handing all her personal power Shi Nuananuan managed to survive in the cruel palace, even though she was stripped of her power. After the sudden death of HeShao Shi Nuananuan was again promoted to a royal concubine. After a month of his death, Shi Nuananuan announced to the world that she has given birth to a healthy baby girl.
The entire kingdom was in dire need of a trustworthy ruler, and the present concubine's dedication to the kingdom even after being demoted was more than enough to silence those who were still not quite ok with a woman ruling over them.
The healthy girl, Princess Cara only came to know about her biological mom being dead and her aunt bringing her up as her own daughter on her 15th birthday.
