Strange Request
Note: these are random stories that I had difficulty fitting into the main storyline. They may or may not become relevant later. The main storyline starts with the first volume.
I'm staring at the request board, but I don't believe my eyes. There is a request put in by a guy named Van. The name is not what is so hard to believe. He owns a restaurant here in Altra city. Also not what is so hard to believe. The hard part to believe is the request he put in. An original idea for a new dish for his restaurant. Well, it's not original, but my idea is out of this world...literally. I walk up to the receptionist.
"Hey Sharon, I would like to take the local support request put up by Van the restaurant owner".
"I'm going to dissuade you from taking that request. Van used to be a prominent adventurer. He has traveled the entire continent. He will fail you if you give him a recipe he already knows. Several people have failed this quest already".
"I get that it is your job to get adventurers to take requests that they are most likely to to succeed. Don't worry. I got this".
"For a warrior, you are really smart. Every warrior I used that word on was confused by it". Damn it. Common sense says that all but magic types are stupid. Think, man, think.
"I guessed by what you said that dissuade means to try to convince me not to. It is what you did right after."
"Huh, context clues. You, my good man, are a cut above all physical damage dealers."
"So are you gling to let me accept this request?"
"If you are that confident, then sure. Maybe all that time in the Andel Mountains gave you a perspective the other adventurers don't have."
"Thanks Sharon." I wonder what recipe to give him. Maybe French Fries. Or English Muffin. Guess it depends on what what kind of restaurant he has and what he got on hand. Maybe I should search through the local marketplace to see what's there."
