Lan Wei was busy reading when he received the notice from the maid.
Without another warning, Lan Fei and Lan Guang Ning had appeared in his study, completely disregarding his position as the Young Master of the Lan Clan.
Not like that title had any power anymore.
This was Kian's first time meeting Lan Fei and Lan Guang Ning in Lan Wei's body. He studied both closely with a keen eye. Lan Fei was like a fragile but handsome scholar, his body radiating warmth. Lan Guang Ning was a spitting image of his father, right down to his aura. But, even that could not cover his eyes of despise for Lan Wei.
Lan Fei smiled warmly at Lan Wei, seemingly protective. If Lan Fei had any discord with Lan Wei, he kept them well hidden. He sat down, and gestured for the maid to serve tea and snacks, looking comfortable, as if he was in his own house.
Lan Wei briefly acknowledged them, and continued staring at his book.
"How are you, Lan Wei?" Lan Fei asked, his brows furrowed.
"Fine." Lan Wei replied listlessly.
"You are obviously not fine. Look at how thin you are! You look like a ghost. Where's the cousin I used to know?" Lan Guang Ning said. He made sure his voice was loud enough to be heard by the servants working nearby.
Lan Wei continued staring at his book.
The maid came in with a plate of osmanthus cakes and fresh Pu'er tea. All was silent as the other two enjoyed their tea.
Half an incense had passed, and Lan Wei hadn't turned a single page.
"Lan Wei, come out with Uncle for a bit." Lan Fei said, gently clapping Lan Wei on the back as he stood up.
"Where are we going?" Lan Wei asked, his voice low and gloomy.
He stood up, and stared at the backs of Lan Fei and Lan Guang Ning as they prepared to leave the study. Lan Guang Ning smiled and dragged Lan Wei outside the manor.
"We're going to an auction house. Hurry up now, you don't want to get lost."
Once the three of them reached a busy street with people pushing everywhere, Lan Guang Ning suddenly let go of Lan Wei.
Lan Wei, who was still in a daze, was soon swept away by the crowd and he lost sight of Lan Guang Ning and Lan Fei.
Lan Guang Ning smirked. That piece of trash hadn't come out in months, people were starting to wonder if he was dead. It was time to renew their hatred of Lan Wei.
His plan soon succeeded, as most people knew what Lan Wei was like- the thin, sickly son who brought down the country's pride and joy. No need to identify him based on his appearance, the jade pendant he wore on his hip was proof enough. Only the heir of the Lan Clan could wear it, and the crowd remembered that insigna well.
"Uncle! Lan Guang Ning!" Lan Wei called out.
People started to whisper and stare at Lan Wei, who seemed completely lost. Soon, a small circle formed around his unmoving figure.
"Is that Lan Wei? The trash of the Lan Clan?"
"A waste of space!"
"He's a disgrace to his parents."
A small child tossed a stone at Lan Wei, but was hurriedly rushed away by his mother. Everyone knew the lengths Lan Fei would go for Lan Wei.
The crowd soon lost interest in Lan Wei, however, another round of rumours made its way across the capital- the Lan Clan's only heir was an idiot and close to death.
"Finally, they're gone." Lan Wei said.
He slipped into a dark alleyway that he frequently used for going to and from the swordmaster's classes.
"Hey, if it ain't the Young Master!" A haggard but cheery voice rose from behind him.
"Han Xue." Lan Wei said. He turned his head behind him and nodded briefly.
"Aw, you know how much I love you calling out my name." Han Xue said with a wink.
Lan Wei ignored him.
He dug around and found the package he prepared earlier. With relative ease, he removed the makeup from his face, and from the sallow skeleton came a thin, but healthy looking youth. Once again, he applied the makeup but disguised himself as a plain but elegant looking scholar.
"I need to find a way to get money." He thought.
"Money? Whatchu need money for?" Han Xue asked.
"Haven't you heard the rumours? Lan Clan is supposedly losing their fortune because of me." Lan Wei answered.
He chuckled darkly. Lan Fei and Lan Guang Ning knew how to control the people's perception of him way too easily.
"Furthermore, I need to do something that I can't let the Lan Clan find out." He continued, his eyes closed as his mind ran though his plan.
"Ooh, spicy! Is it a girl? Does your family forbid you to see her because of her social status so you're planning on eloping?" Han Xue said.
He clapped Lan Wei on the shoulder and bellowed heartily, causing Lan Wei's brows to furrow.
Lan Wei flicked Han Xue's hand off his shoulder and turned away.
"You don't need to know." He stated, and prepared to leave without another glance.
Han Xue smirked, before he realised that Lan Wei was actually going to leave.
"Hey! Don't leave! I could help you!" Han Xue said hurriedly. He rushed to grab a hold of Lan Wei's clothes.
Lan Wei crossed his arms and tapped his foot against the dusty floor. He raised an eyebrow and looked expectantly at Han Xue, who was grinning sheepishly as he avoided eye contact.
"You need money, right? Well, I know a friend, who knows a friend who knows another friend-"
"Get to the point, Han Xue."
Kian was 100% sure that Han Xue was not part of Lan Wei's memories, yet he suddenly appeared a week ago when he was returning from training. Han Xue had appeared beside him, smirking and acting overly familiar with Lan Wei.
He even asked about his poison.
Kian wasn't sure if Han Xue could be related to the week-long memory loss. It was a possibility that Lan Wei had met him around there, so Kian made sure to keep his act up.
He wished he could go back into the space. He missed Big Sis. Han Xue was unwelcomed company. So far, Kian was sure he was the only person who knew the true face of the previous Lan Wei.
"Lan Wei, have I ever mentioned how I love hearing my name on your lips?"
Kian wondered how the previous Lan Wei didn't murder Han Xue.
The air around the two turned chilly.
"Ok, ok! Don't turn all ice master on me, I still have a wife and child at home!" Han Xue put his hands up in surrender and backed away a few steps.
"You're not married and you're homeless."
"Who said I'm homeless?"
"Your clothes."
Han Xue coughed awkwardly and came closer so he could pat Lan Wei on the back.
"Come on, I'm just a little dusty, that's all!"
"You stink."
Han Xue tentatively sniffed his clothes. He gagged in disgust, and quickly fanned the air in front of him.
"Why didn't you tell me earlier?"
"Wasn't important."
With an incredulous expression on his face, Han Xue stared at Lan Wei. His heart hurted. His hygiene wasn't important? Wasn't he his friend? What was this kind of treatment?
He took a deep breath and sighed.
"I love you too, Lan Wei."
With a deadpan expression, Lan Wei replied-
"I love myself too."

Jia Xinyue: Where the hell is Kian?! There's only so many cat videos I can watch before I die of boredom!!
Hi guys I'm back
My releases might be a bit inconsistent due to school. I'll try my best.
Also, I've changed the chapters so that it will refer to Lan Wei instead of Kian, except for when Kian is thinking about the previous Lan Wei. Just so it reads smoother. Also finally starting to straighten out my tenses, so enjoy!!
I'll be editing the whole story once I reach chapter 100. So just bear with my mistakes(although do feel free to point them out, so I can change them later on).
Thank you :')
