Lan Wei panted. He quickly wiped off the sweat on his brows as his gaze hardened. Raising his sword once more, he prepared to charge.
"Again." He said, even though his muscles were aching and all he wanted to do, was to lie there on the earth and fall asleep.
"No. You need to rest." A calm and collected voice came from in front of him.
Lan Wei dug his wooden sword into the earth as an anchor and leaned upon it, nodding slightly.
"Here."
Lan Wei looked up, and a pouch of water came flying his way. He caught it effortlessly, wincing at the pain from the poison raging inside. That poison seemed to dig inside of his bones, but after many days of staying inside Lan Wei's body, he could somewhat suppress the pain.
"Thank you, Uncle." Lan Wei said softly, before chugging down the water, savouring the way the water soothed his parched throat.
Kian had discovered that he could fully access Lan Wei's memory a few days ago. With this discovery, he discovered something even more shocking- Lan Wei hadn't given up. Lan Wei had been biding his time, just as Kian did. He had been training under a different name with a kind swordmaster from across the capital.
Lan Wei had deliberately made it seem like he was lifeless so that Lan Fei and the others let their guards down, and he would then sneak his way across town to visit the swordmaster.
He had been training all this time, throwing himself into practise so that he forgot all else. He hid the callouses and bruises from the maids by shooing them away and pretending he was sick, hid his long departures by making it seem like he was sleeping the whole time.
Lan Fei and Lan Guang Ning had no idea what a storm would've crossed them. If only if Lan Wei hadn't died!
Kian was moved by Lan Wei's determination. It reminded him so much of his own vengeance, and just like Lan Wei, he had died.
Kian had been on the fence about Lan Wei, about getting revenge for him. Jia Xinyue had been going off about getting revenge for Lan Wei before they left for Jiang Academy, but as much as Kian felt like his life was similar to Lan Wei's, he disliked Lan Wei's character.
But now... it was different.
Kian vowed to let the people know how vile Lan Fei and Lan Guang Ning was, ruin their lives and their reputation! Just like how they ruined Lan Wei's!
Kian realised something was wrong. How did Lan Wei die then? If he was biding his time, he certainly didn't die from depression.
Either someone murdered him, or something else had happened. Even though Kian had his memories, the week before Kian and Big Sis supposedly entered Lan Wei's body was...empty. Vanished, into thin air.
He shook his head. Lan Wei's body had been getting worse and worse over the few weeks before he and Big Sis took over. He may have fallen into a coma, which would explain the memory loss.
"I'm just really glad you are finally back to training, Wei Lan. I haven't seen you in weeks." The swordmaster continued, smiling at his student.
He liked Wei Lan a lot, as he could see the determination in his eyes and the perseverance in his every move. Wei Lan improved beyond his imagination- he was a fast learner, and he was filial. Wei Lan would bring fresh fruit to him every time they met, and everytime, the swordmaster had declined.
Obviously, someone like Wei Lan must be from a run-down family- from the state of his clothes to his haggard appearance. It had made the kind swordmaster's heart hurt, seeing him bring fresh fruit even though he looked undernourished.
Lan Wei threw back the empty container, and bowed deeply before the swordsmaster.
"Wei Lan will now go and take his leave." He said, before leaving the swordmaster's house and heading back to his own.
In a dark and empty alleyway, Kian took out his noble's robes and put them on, patting his hair slightly so it looked more neat.
He snuck back into the manor, unbeknownst to everyone but the eyes of two.
Lord and the man in red stood in a nearby alleyway, hidden in the shadows. They had been following Lan Wei for the past week.
Lord's brows furrowed as he asked, "Do you know what poison he has?"
The man in red nodded before answering, "Yes, answering to Lord, Lan Wei's body has the Spirit Flower poison inside of him."
Lord smiled, his smile so enchanting that it could bring countries to their knees, that is, if his eyes weren't full of bloodlust. The man in red shivered a little, and looked down at his feet.
"Plant the antidote to the Spirit Flower near the body. See what it does." Lord said, still smiling wickedly. He seemed extremely amused at the thought of this scenario.
"Lord, the antidote would be too hard to plant nearby without seeming suspicious-" The man in red began, before being cut off by Lord.
"Just use the Eight Colour Lotus."
The man in red's eyes widened.
"The Eight Colour Lotus? Lord, that is very rare and-" He said nervously, fearing Lord's reaction.
"Just do it." Lord replied.
Lord knew this much should piss off the elders even more now. It was simply too bad that they didn't have enough power to stop him. In this world, you could only live freely if you had power!
The elders had less power then him, therefore, they should bow down to him!
"Yes, Lord. This servant will follow your orders." The man in red soon disappeared from Lord's sight.
Lord's eyes narrowed. This servant really thought he was an idiot, didn't he? His thoughts displayed on his face with the slightest attempt at covering up his disdain for Lord. Just because he worked for the elders, doesn't mean the elders can protect him from Lord.
Lord chuckled darkly. It was about time to 'clean up' his underlings.
