Before Raheem could reach the door, an eerie chill crept down his neck, and he felt blood trickling from a wound on his body.
"I warned you not to leave," a voice, emanating authority and menace, echoed through the chamber. The speaker was Jophiel, brandishing a sword crafted from ethereal light. His eyes bore an unsettling calmness, his hair danced in the wind – a harbinger of the impending storm.
"You've crossed the point of no return," Jophiel continued, each word measured. "I've told you once, and I'll tell you again, you can't touch me."
Raheem grinned as he retorted, "It seems they didn't brief you when you took this job. When I'm angered, the heavens themselves tremble."
As Raheem spoke, his entire body began to harden, resembling the very earth itself. Suddenly, an explosion of power erupted from Raheem's gourd.
"You still believe you can't do anything to me?" Raheem taunted.
Jophiel's eyes blazed like the sun, and with a swift motion, he condensed the surrounding light particles into a sword. The blade hummed with energy.
Raheem's eyes darkened, and he swung his gourd with a mighty force. A deafening "bom" shook the surroundings. Jophiel staggered as the light sword vanished. Raheem seized this opportunity, rushing towards Jophiel. His gourd expanded as he slammed it down, sending Jophiel crashing through the floor and into the earth's core.
"Nooooooooooo!" Alma's scream pierced the air.
"I'm going to kill you!" Alma's eyes burned with murderous intent. Before the dryads could intervene, she used the trees to immobilize them.
Raheem continued taunting, "Your husband is worthless, he can't do anything to me. Do you want my father to kill you?"
Alma, lost in her rage, retrieved her weapon, a flute, placing it to her lips and playing a haunting melody. No sound emerged, but the trees came to life, roaring with anger.
Ignoring Raheem's threats, Alma's flute reached a crescendo, and the earth itself seemed to retaliate against Raheem. He responded with a battle song, growing in size and power.
"Hold it!" Hephaestus's voice resonated, bringing everything to a halt. He released the dryads from their binds.
Alma rushed to her grandfather, tears in her eyes. "He ruined everything," she sobbed.
"I'll be taking my leave," Raheem sensed that the situation was no longer in his favor. He knew Hephaestus was the real deal, and his best chance had been to disgrace Jophiel. Without his brothers around, Jophiel was weaker.
Before Hephaestus could respond, the earth covering Jophiel was shattered, and Jophiel slowly ascended.
Alma's eyes softened as she looked at her beloved, sensing his use of their bond. But her anger still smoldered.
"Who told you to leave?" Jophiel spoke, and before Raheem could retort, he noticed his hand, still gripping his gourd, had fallen off. The excruciating pain surged through Raheem, who knelt in agony.
Hephaestus intervened, creating a protective barrier for Raheem, who, despite the pain, felt a branch shielding him. Hephaestus spoke again, "That's enough, Jophiel. Let him go."
Raheem looked to Hephaestus, gratitude and shock in his eyes. He glanced at Jophiel, whom he had considered weak.
"Why, Grandfather Fire, why would you let him go after what he did?" Alma questioned, her anger unabated.
"It was because of me," Jophiel interjected. "I broke my seal. I couldn't maintain it any longer."
Grandfather Fire frowned, moving to Jophiel and sealing him with a fiery emblem on his chest.
As the tension eased, Zach, usually lighthearted, approached Jophiel with a somber demeanor. "Captain," he said, directing Jophiel's attention.
"What's the situation?" Jophiel inquired.
Zach silently pointed toward the unfolding void in the distance.
