It was just reaching dusk now and deciding to take a bath before getting ready, I lay submerged in the water. Ella had placed lavender oil into the water to soothe my skin and the fragrance coming off of the water helped calm my nerves.
I have always been anxious when having to meet new people and tonight I would have to face an entire mansion of new faces.
Stepping out of the tub I wrapped a towel around me and then with a second towel I began drying my long wet hair. I had told Ella earlier that I would not need her help this evening and had decided to get myself ready for the ball.
Now sitting at my dressing table I combed out my hair. Taking two small strands on either side of my head I twisted them together at the back of my head and kept them in place with a jeweled pin my mother had given me. It was one of my most favorite possessions. I large gold pin and at the end sat a golden swallow, when placed in my hair it looked as though the small bird was landing onto the back of my head.
I decided to leave the rest of my hair loose, letting it fall down in large golden curls.
Seeing as my gown was a deep crimson I decided to go with a dark shadow on my eyes, using tones of brown and copper. Applying a blackened oil to my lashes I brushed them out to fuller accentuate my blue eyes. And applying a dark rouge to my lips I stood up to put on my dress.
Seeing as the bodice was low cut and the back slightly open I opted to not wearing an undergarment. Fastening the corset tightly to my waist I checked myself in the mirror.
I no longer looked like a girl but instead a young woman with a woman's attributes.
My bosom slightly raised from the corset and my waist made smaller making my curvaceous figure more defined.
Although this dress was not what I was used to, and rather revealing when compared to the plainer gowns I normally wear. It was beautiful and I felt like a rosebud read to bloom.
