Blistering heat bubbled under the surface of her skin, threatening to cook her from the inside out. Her blood zoomed at a speed that couldn't be considered normal through her veins, and appeared black to those who looked closely at her as she slept.
It wasn't long before the pain became unbearable and woke her from a not so blissful sleep. Powers that she could yet not control escaped from the tip of her fingers, and near blasted a hole in the wall. She was sure it would have woken the neighbours: but at least she wouldn't be the only one awake.
Sweat formed on her forehead and trickled down her feverish face. She clenched and unclenched her fists as she attempted calming her breathing. When will she learn to control this blasted power?
She got up out of bed and put on her black, silk gown, then headed to the kitchen to get some water. The time on the clock said it was 5 am: it was a bit early to start the day, but she knew she wouldn't be able to go back to sleep now.
Sighing, she filled up a cup with water and sat down on the sofa turning on the tv as she did. It was no surprise when the only things on at this time were the shopping channel.
She didn't care - as long as it got her mind of her lack of control over her powers.
It wasn't like she had anyone to instruct her about these things. According to her mother, she was the only remaining female to possess any sort of power, and ever since then no known female had been born with such things.
It had skipped a few generations and then it had now chosen her to hone these powers.
Nevertheless, she had no idea how to wield them or what to do with them.
Hiding this secret, that was kept within her body, was her only option.
