Chapter ten:
Feng Qi didn't have the energy to get out of her embrace so he just tiredly stared at her in confusion and distrust. He hated the fact that he was so weak that he couldn't resist her in anyway. It was truly pitiful.
Meng didn't notice the feelings in Feng Qi's eyes as she was focused on all of the marks on his body. His shirt had originally covered many of them from her sight, but once it was sliced by the guards everything was exposed.
Tears fell like a river down Meng's face as she realized that their wasn't a single part of his body that wasn't cut or bruised. She held him closely in her arms so that she wouldn't be forced to see his scars. She knew that if she looked at them for a minute longer she really would go insane.
In the novel, the author did talk about the torture Feng Qi went through, but somehow seeing it in real life was ten times worse.
"Feng Qi, I know that you probably hate me to death right now and that you definitely don't trust me. However, I need you to take a leap of faith and let me get you out of here. I definitely can't leave you here to suffer anymore." Meng spoke every word determinedly and without wavering.
She really hoped he agreed, because if he didn't she would definitely drag him out regardless. In his weak state she could easily subdue him and remove him from this place. Out of curtesy for him she wasted time allowing him to decide.
Feng Qi eyes were still full of distrust and wariness, however he couldn't stop himself from feeling a bit of hope at her words. Would she really get him out of here?
He knew that even though the emperor said he would be released when Ru Gu Meng woke up, it would still take a day before he was actually let go. Previously he might of been fine with it and could refuse her offers.
But now, with the deep gash he received
from the guards he wasn't sure if he could last another day. If the wounds were left untreated he wasn't sure if he could even live through the night.
Feng Qi avoided her large searching eyes and looked down on the ground before nodding his head. Normally Feng Qi was a lot more distrusting than this and would of surely told her to back off without thinking twice.
However, for the first time in four years he couldn't help from being touched by the care she showed him. He didn't realize how much he missed being cared for until this very moment... so much that he was willing to even hope to get it from his greatest enemy.
He didn't fool himself into thinking that she really cared, but he did want to hold on to this nostalgic feeling a minute longer. Closing his eyes, Feng Qi imagined himself four years ago in the arms of his parents, in an place he once knew.
Meng tightly grabbed Feng Qi to stop him from falling after he fell asleep. She was glowing with happiness after seeing that he trusted her so much to even fall asleep.
