What the Goguryeos don't know is that his tactic base form was the combat power of the cavalry, something that the Goguryeo's cavalry doesn't have in his mind, and soon enough it was proven by how ineffective was the Goguryeo's cavalry in trying to weaken Zhang Liao and Gongsun Gong's army, it even reversed with them gaining large amount casualties causing the Goguryeo's main general ordering them to retreat.
This dealt a huge blow to the Goguryeo's Army morale which had risen due to their reinforcement had arrived, their men thought that they finally had the chance to inflict casualties on the Han Army.
Gongsun Gong ordered the archers to shoot at the retreating Goguryeo's Cavalry, inflicting further damage to the Goguryeo's cavalry.
The Goguryeo's main general seeing this changes his tactic and has the cavalry incorporated inside the formation, and from there he makes some last minute changes where the cavalry becomes the vanguard.
He hoped that using the cavalry would delay a massive blow to the Han Army formation, and from there he would utilize the infantries to enter the gap that the cavalries had created to support them.
Lastly, the archers would do some covering fire, targeting the Han Army archer units to suppress them and ensure that his infantries and cavalry could deal the highest damage possible.
When Zhang Liao, Gao Shun, and Gongsun Gong saw the last minute changes made by the Goguryeo Army, they didn't care about it much because changing a plan of attack at this conjecture wasn't a good idea.
So Gao Shun and Gongsun Gong only ordered their men to tighten their defensive formation line, while Zhang Liao prepared the Bingzhou Wolf cavalry to leave the formation at any moment, and did a pincer attack on the Goguryeo Army.
The clash between the two armies was very big, and unfortunately for the Goguryeo Army, their cavalry couldn't deal a big blow to Zhang Liao and Gongsun Gong's Army.
This caused a big problem for them, as then not all of their infantries had a gap to enter and capitalize on it to disrupt the defensive formation of their enemy, and the reason this happened is due to Gao Shun used the shield wall tactics, but incorporated the nest of bees and fire lance.
This new technology surprised the Goguryeo Army and Gongsun Gong, as they had never seen this kind of weapon before. Both of these weapons inflicted a large amount of damage to the Goguryeo's infantries and cavalries.
Gongsun Gong: "What kind of weapon is this General Gao Shun?! How come I have never heard of them in all of my life?!"
Gao Shun: "Haha these two weapons are called the Nest of Bees and Fire Lance! Both of them were made by the brightest minds under My Lord's disposal! So I should say that Master Gongsun Gong chose to swear your allegiance to My Lord is the best action!"
Gongsun Gong: "Yes I could say that I feel relieved to have sworn my allegiance to Lord Lie Fan! I never expected that he would have such weapons under his disposal!"
Gaso Shun: "These two weapons aren't the only ones at My Lord's disposal, there are still many weapons like the Hwacha that could be said to be My Lord's most dangerous weapon!"
Zhang Liao: "There are also large ships that were beyond the technology of this era! Those ships were equipped with the Hwacha that Gao Shun had just said, with these we managed to destroy both Liu Yan and Liu Biao's navy at a fast speed!"
Gongsun Gong hearing what both Zhang Liao and Gao Shun had just said was very shocked, he didn't expect that Lie Fan would have such an amazing arsenal of weapons and manage to hide it for so long until he decided to show it at the time he wanted.
The nest of bees and fire lance appearance was very surprising for the Goguryeos, the Goguryeo's main general was surprised, and before he could ask one of his retainers if they ever heard or seen these two weapons, they were attacked from behind.
The one who attacked them was Zhang Liao, who led the Bingzhou Wolf Cavalry and attacked the rear of the Goguryeo's Army that was distracted by the appearance of The nest of bees and fire lance.
Zhang Liao and the Bingzhou Wolf Cavalry managed to cause a large blow, where they managed to carve inside the formation of the Goguryeo's Army, decimating many Goguryeos along the way.
This caused the Goguryeo main general to arrange his archer units to target Zhang Liao and the Bingzhou Wolf cavalry, and this move caused the frontline situation for the Goguryeos to change as their infantries didn't have any support from the rear.
Gao Shun seeing this immediately sends his formation breaker unit to the front line, with the support of the formation breaker unit the other normal units to thwart the attack of the Goguryeos.
The Goguryeos were overwhelmed by the pincer attack and the failure of their offensive plan further caused a large blow.
Many of the Goguryeo's generals reported news after news of their defeat after defeat at their front to their main general, which caused the Goguryeo main general to have a headache.
He never expected that their offensive plan would fail miserably, he asked the advisors around him what action should they take, and half of his advisors told him to retreat while the other half advised him to keep pressing the Han Army.
Before the Goguryeo main general could decide what to do, suddenly they saw the Han Army launch another frontal assault using the nest of bees and firelance, and manage to turn from defensive to offensive.
Seeing the sudden turn of situation, the Goguryeo's main general panicked and was afraid that they would lose so he immediately ordered a retreat ignoring some of the dissatisfied advisors and generals.
The drum of the retreat was sounded and the Goguryeos soldiers hearing this began to retreat at full speed, even trampling some of their comrades ignoring their plea for help.
Zhang Liao who was at the rear of the Goguryeo Army alongside the Bingzhou Wolf Cavalry, noticed the situation and led the Bingzhou Wolf Cavalry to leave the rear of the Goguryeo Army formation.
Gao Shun and Gongsun Gong noticed the retreat of the Goguryeo Army and ordered their army to not pursue the Goguryeo Army, as their focus was to subjugate the surrounding area.
The Goguryeo's retreat was ugly since they left many of their comrades and equipment behind, and seeing this Zhang Liao, Gao Shun, and Gongsun Gong ordered their unit to round up the left behind Goguryeos and their equipment.
In the battle between Lie Fan's Army and the Goguryeo's Army at the border of China and the Goguryeo, Anding Jia Kui received a letter from Xun Yu that said Cao Cao accepted Han Sui's swear of allegiance and informed Jia Kui to proceed as they planned, helping Han Sui to issue the challenge to Ma Teng.
Jia Kui heaved a sigh of relief that Cao Cao agreed with Han Sui's swear of allegiance that he accepted in Cao Cao's name, he was afraid that he had overstepped Cao Cao in accepting Han Sui's swear of allegiance.
Jia Kui accompanied by Li Dian headed toward Han Sui's residence where Han Sui was currently located, Jia Kui managed to meet Han Sui easily since now they were comrades serving Cao Cao.
Han Sui takes Jia Kui and Li Dian to the men's hall of his residence, and after taking their seats Jia Kui immediately informs Han Sui of Cao Cao's decision and tells him that Cao Cao wants him to issue a challenge to Ma Teng, where it was a smoke screen for Cao Cao to send his army to Chang'An.
Hearing this Han Sui was silent for a while and then nodded his head, he only requested that Cao Cao's Army be as fast as possible since the amount of his army wasn't as big as it was before.
Jia Kui nodded his head and told Han Sui that he didn't need to worry because the early had been prepared at Tong Gate and when the moment was perfect, the army would march toward Chang'An at the cover of the night.
Hearing this plan Han Sui agrees and suggests that they take a shortcut from Tong Pass, one that he knew north of Tong Pass that they could use, at this summer time the river was very shallow and they could use it to head toward Chang'An faster.
Hearing that Han Sui even gave some suggestions, Jia Kui then gave Han Sui a letter that he already drafted filled with a statement of challenge toward Ma Teng, Han Sui took the letter from Jia Kui and opened it to read the content inside.
Seeing the choice of words that were chosen as the statement of challenge to Ma Teng, Han Sui was satisfied with it because Jia Kui had used personal words that he would definitely use and Ma Teng wouldn't be suspicious of his action.
Han Sui asked for a day for him to prepare to release this statement and Jia Kui nodded his head, he also agreed with this move and said that he would wait for Han Sui's action tomorrow.
So a day passed by and Han Sui released his statement of challenge to Ma Teng, which was full of insults, and told Ma Teng that he didn't accept their treaty and demanded his towns be returned to him while cursing at Ma Teng.
Ma Teng in Chang'An was enjoying his time with his family when he received the report from his advisors about Han Sui's challenge.
Hearing this he was surprised and at the same time wasn't surprised, maybe if it wasn't filled with curses to him he would be suspicious, but hearing that there were personal insults to him, he knew that it was Han Sui himself and that he somewhat waited for this to happen.
Ma Teng told Ma Chao who was with him to inform Pang De to ready their army in case Han Sui sent his army, even though Han Sui only had 50,000 men they couldn't let their guard down.
So with Ma Teng's words to ready his army, Pang De alongside Ma Chao stationed their army in the north of Chang'An, where they also reduced the amount of patrol between Chang'An and Tong Gate not knowing that this was the perfect money for Cao Cao's Army to exploit, where they send their army lead by Cao Ren, Xu Huang, and Zhang Ji to Chang'A under the cover of the night using the shortcut from Jia Kui who received it from Han Sui.

So with Ma Teng's words to ready his army, Pang De alongside Ma Chao stationed their army in the north of Chang'An, where they also reduced the amount of patrol between Chang'An and Tong Gate not knowing that this was the perfect moment for Cao Cao's Army to exploit, where they send their army lead by Cao Ren, Xu Huang, and Zhang Ji to Chang'An under the cover of the night using the shortcut from Jia Kui who received it from Han Sui.
Cao Ren, Xu Huang, and Zhang Ji led 200,000 men which 50,000 were a reinforcement for them toward Chang'An, using the shortcut information from Han Sui they headed north from Tong Pass toward upstream of the river.
When they reach the location, they find the road that Han Sui informed them of through Jia Kui. The problem is that the road is too small for the entire army to pass through due to it being between a cliff, so Cao Ren assigned the army into several groups.
He will lead the first group, Xu Huang lead the second group, and lastly, Zhang Ji will lead the third group to pass through the road.
Afraid that they would consume a large amount of time and wouldn't manage to arrive at Chang'An in time, Cao Ren told both Xu Huang and Zhang Ji that they needed to fasten the speed of their march through the road, as time was of the essence for them.
So without further ado, under Cao Ren's leadership, the first group of Cao Cao's Army advanced through the road, followed by Xu Huang's group, and then Zhang Ji's group spending several hours before the entirety of the army passed.
When all of the armies managed to pass through, Cao Ren regrouped the army into the formation that he had assembled for the army, where they could begin their assault on Chang'An as soon as they arrived.
When Cao Ren and Cao Cao's Army were on their way to Chang'An under the cover of the night, the tension between Han Sui and Ma Teng reached a new height, where Han Sui also mobilized his army at the same time as Cao Ren, Xu Huang, and Zhang Ji lead Cao Cao's Army to Chang'An.
The mobilization of Han Sui's 50,000 men Army caused Pang De and Ma Chao who already mobilized Ma Teng's Army march toward a village between Chang'An and Anding.
They brought around 125,000 men, the whole army that was stationed at Chang'An, while the rest of Ma Teng's Army was scattered around his domain which had expanded massively after defeating Han Sui.
Both of them were very confident in defeating Han Sui, even though the 50,000 men under Han Sui were the cream of the crop of Han Sui's men, the number advantage was on their side and their men were also experienced, soldiers.
Han Sui accompanied by his Eight Rider generals, Jia Kui, and Li Dian led his 50,000 men to meet with Ma Chao and Pang De in the village, to buy some time Han Sui raised a white flag asking for a parley.
Seeing the request for parley requested by Han Sui, both Ma Chao and Pang De accepted the request and accompanied by their men, both sides met up at the center field between both armies.
Han Sui was accompanied by Cheng Yi, Liang Xing, and Jia Kui alongside several men while Pang De and Ma Chao brought several men alongside them as well.
When Ma Chao saw Han Sui, he wanted to punch the smug look on his face but Pang De managed to curb his impulsiveness, and he turned to Han Sui to ask him what is the reason for his parley request.
Pang De: "Han Sui! We have answered your request for a parley, so tell us what is the reason for you to ask for a parley? Go straight to the point, don't want our time."
Han Sui: "Haha! General Pang De, please relax I never expected that you could have such a temper, I still lamented that you chose to join Ma Teng and not me, you would have had a much brighter future if you joined me in the past."
Ma Chao: "Just talk straight to the point Han Sui! In the past, I was proud to call you uncle, but right now you only make me sick in my stomach whenever I see your face, so let's fasten our meeting for the good of both sides and begin to fight."
Jia Kui: "General Ma Chao please watch your words, General Han Sui is much older than you and was your elder before your father and he came to blow, I see that your Father identified teach you manners and only martial arts."
Ma Chao: "You Bastard! what did you say about my father?! Who are you to just suddenly barge in between our conversation?!"
Han Sui: "Nephew Ma Chao this is Master Jia Kui, an advisor that opened my mind to see that your Father cheated me from almost all of my domain, and with his help, we managed to hatch a plan to take it all back!"
Ma Chao: "Haha what a joke! This is the best joke I have heard in my life! What kind of plan could you and this advisor hatch hmm? Don't forget we outnumbered your army and we have th-."
Pang De: "Wait a minute, what did you just call Han Sui? General? How could you just call your lord a general, Han Sui I didn't expect that you just accept this treatment haha!"
Pang De's words caused Ma Chao to laugh alongside him, and Han Sui seeing their happiness began to drop the true bomb on them, by saying that what Jia Kui had just called him was right, because he was only a general now.
Hearing what Han Sui had just said the two of them were surprised, and before they could ask what Han Sui meant by saying that, Jia Kui then told both Pang De and Ma Chao that Han Sui was no longer a Warlod anymore.
Now he was a General who had sworn his allegiance to Cao Cao, bringing all of his army and domain to serve Cao Cao, and right now the two of them had entered a well crafted trap.
Listening to the words Jia Kui had just said, Pang
De and Ma Chao were shocked, and before they could clarify their words, suddenly a messenger barged into their conversation.
The messenger comes from Pang De and Ma Chao's side, where he whispers to both Pang De and Ma Chao about a sudden emergency situation in Chang'An, and that they need to retreat to reinforce Chang'An as they were attacked.
This news caused both PP.angang De and Ma Chao to be shocked and their faces changed, and their changing faces were seen by Han Sui, Cheng Yi, Liang Xing, and Jia Kui.
The messenger arrivals indicate that Cao Ren, Xu Huang, and Liang Xing have arrived at Chang'An, and before Han Sui could say anything both Pang De and Ma Chao turned their horses and rode back to their formation.
Han Sui and Jia Kui seeing this just let out a chuckle, and they also returned to their formation where Jia Kui told Han Sui that he could attack the rear of Pang De and Ma Chao's Army formation when they marched toward Chang'An.
As of right now, the two were in a state of panic, and Jia Kui felt that this was the perfect moment as Ma Chao and Pang De were distracted by the arrival of their main army, which also could buy the main army some time.
The battle at the village between Chang'An and Anding already ended before it could even start, at Chang'An Ma Teng announced an emergency situation and led the defense of Chang'An against the sudden attack from Cao Cao.
He was truly caught off guard as he didn't expect Cao Cao would suddenly attack him, even though the entire army stationed at Chang'An was brought by both Pang De and Ma Chao to meet with Han Sui, there were still city guards and soldiers to guard Chang'An.
There were around 10,000 men under Ma Teng's current disposal, but seeing the 200,000 men under the wall of Chang'An, he doesn't know how long he could hold on.
He also sent out a letter to both Pang De and Ma Chao to hurry to return, to help him in repelling Cao Cao's attack on Chang'An because with the men at his disposal right now it would only be suicide.
He needed the Army under Ma Chao and Pang De to at least minimize the number advantage Cao Cao's Army had over him, and both Ma Chao alongside Pang De were also large firepower for him to fight against Cao Cao's generals.
What he doesn't know is that when Pang De and Ma Chao ordered their army to return back to Chang'An, they let their guard down and were attacked by Han Sui and his army from behind.
This caused Pang De to stay put and lead 50,000 men to fight against Han Sui, and let Ma Chao let the rest of the soldiers 75,000 men reinforce his father in Chang'An.
Ma Chao wanted to argue against Pang De's decision but hearing the finality in Pang De's tone and how serious his face was when he said that, Ma Chao could only nod his head and led 75,000 men to Chang'An.
Pang De led the 50,000 men to fight against Han Sui and his Army, unfortunately, Pang De didn't realize that Han Sui had the Eight Rider Generals, and with Li Dian entering the mix combined with Jia Kui's military strategy, he and his men was soon suppressed by Han Sui and his army.
So when Ma Teng who was preparing the defenses against Cao Ren, Xu Huang, and Zhang Ji's Army began their attack on Chang'An, Ma Chao who ordered his army to march as fast as they could, managed to arrive at Chang'An.
Ma Teng who saw the arrival of his army heaved a sigh of relief, as he didn't know how to guard Chang'An with 10,000 men fighting against hundreds of thousands of enemies, and due to them coming from the north they could enter Chang'An to join on the defenses, where Cao Ren, Xu Huang, and Zhang Ji could actually stop them but they let them past to let Ma Teng's men waste more energy, which will be easy picking for them during the siege battle.
