Liu Biao is worried, but under the persuasion of his advisors such as Kuai Yue and Kuai Liang, as well as his admirals Cai Mao and Huang Zu, he eventually rests his restless heart and rejects the motion of alliance that Liu Yao requested, which would haunt him in the future and makes him regret for not agreeing.
Of course, the happiest party was Sun Jian itself as the announcement was from Lie Fan Part one-sided as his emissary hadn't returned yet to Yuzhang, the capital of his domain right now.
Since the announcement was only about the establishment of the alliance between his clan and Lie Fan's clan, it means that the marriage alliance that was proposed by Huan Jie was rejected by Lie Fan.
He doesn't have a problem that it was rejected, Lie Fan's love for his family especially his sister was known to him during their time in the alliance against Dong Zhuo, as Lie Fan likes to talk about his family.
His sister is the one he talks about the most, Sun Jian of course feels the same as him considering that he had his first daughter Sun Shang Xiang born at 182 from his concubine, seeing the baby girl melted his heart.
He spoiled her and told his eldest sons Sun Ce and Sun Quan to always take care of her. Sun Quan was born earlier in the same year as Sun Shang Xiang, so he was her older brother but of the same age. (AT:In Wiki and other sources, Sun Shang Xiang was listed as being born between 182 and 191 AD)
The announcement of the alliance between the two clans alleviated Sun Jian's prestige greatly in the Jiangdong region, overshadowing Liu Yao's prestige making many talented people in the region head toward Yuzhang.
Sun Jian's morals and bravery have been known by many people, but some hesitated to choose him due to his prestige wasn't that remarkable due to some of his achievements being overshadowed by Lie Fan.
Now that Lie Fan 'recognized' Sun Jian as his equal, the Noble circle in Jiangdong that was dissatisfied with Liu Yao decided to support Sun Jian, and his talents with grassroots background also floc toward him, since Liu Yao didn't give them a chance.
Liu Yao with his council now in a state of panic, as Sun Jian who managed to take Yuzhang from them allied themselves with Lie Fan, who was just across him to the north, only separated by the Yangtze River.
Liu Yao decided to mobilize his navy, in the hope that it intimidate Lie Fan as he thought that the Central Warlords didn't have a large navy, not knowing that Lie Fan's navy could decimate his to matter of seconds.
The movement of Liu Yao's Navy was known by Lie Fan and his advisors, but they decided to not respond to his move as they wanted to hide their navy, their trebuchet already shocked the land so they wanted to slowly reveal Lie Fan's trump card.
While in the South some movements were made, with Lie Fan as the mastermind behind all the waves that were happening, At Jibei Lu Bu and Chen Gong were preparing their defenses against Cao Cao.
After the retreat from Puyang, Cao Cao didn't chase them and stayed in Puyang consolidating his influence in the region again, while allowing his army to rest and recuperate also pressuring Lu Bu.
Chen Gong: "My Lord, we have around 125,000 men included with Gao Shun's men who he brought to defend Jibei, it's more than enough to contend against Cao Cao's attack."
Lu Bu: "How about our supplies? Is it enough to sustain our army in defending Jibei?"
Chen Gong: "It's enough My Lord, Jibei has its own Supply and Emergency granary alongside the supplies we brought from Puyang it can sustain us for about 6 months."
Lu Bu: "That's good, prepare our army to defend Jibei as the reports that we receive from our scouts are that Cao Cao and his party are approaching Jibei."
Chen Gong: "Yes My Lord, before I leave I have a question that I would like to ask."
Lu Bu: "Ask away, we have passed many ordeals together, you don't need to be so nervous Gongtai."
Chen Gong: "Then My Lord, I would like to know if the Young Miss will take part in the defense alongside her unit?"
Lu Bu wasn't surprised that Chen Gong asked him this, Lu Lingqi's participation in the defense of Puyang had opened some eyes, as this was the first time that a woman led more women to battle.
His generals don't care about this, as long as Lu Lingqi can help in some way and she also will not block their way to a promotion, it's because she was a woman so she was barred from receiving an official position.
Of course, if Lu Bu wanted to change the status quo, some of his generals would not oppose him such as Gao Shun and Zhang Liao who followed him loyally for a long time, and also watched Lu Lingqi grow from a baby.
But the car is different with some of his generals who joined along the way, even Hou Cheng and his two sworn brothers Song Xian and Wei Xu oppose him, of course, Lu Bu will not change the status quo as he doesn't have the influence to do so.
Doing so means declaring we against the entire foundation and belief of Confucianism that are rooted deep in the heart of the people, especially the nobles and scholars who use this to maintain their status along the way.
Lu Bu also doesn't want to hold his daughter from doing what she wants, so he says to Chen Gong that he will allow Lu Lingqi to participate in the battle, but under the condition that her unit is stationed by his side.
Chen Gong nodded his head acknowledging Lu Bu's statement, after that he left Lu Bu's office and began to draw up the strategy for the defenses on Jibei.
While making the strategy, he actually thinks about one thing that he hasn't said to Lu Bu, Cao Cao was a lustful man and loved beautiful women, which is one of his weaknesses and he is afraid that Lu Lingqi will be targeted by Cao Cao.
He is Cao Cao's friend, of course, he knows his lustful nature especially with his rising as a prominent warlord, it raises several levels which causes him a headache at the time.
Chen Gomg can only sigh, and continue to make the list the perfect strategy so that they can defend Jibei successfully, his pressure is enormous as he is competing against Guo Jia and Xi Zhicai.
Several days passed by, and Lu Bu and Chen Gong received word that Cao Cao's army was 5 kilometers away from Jibei to the west, so they immediately ordered the army to go to their station.
Lu Bu also gave a speech at this time, saying how this was their biggest battle yet which would divide their life and death, he hoped that everyone could fight like this was their last battle to protect their families.
Lu Bu also promised rewards and feats that would be held after their win, Lu Lingqi who was standing beside Lu Bu saw how her father gave a speech with such passion which made her fighting spirit burn even more.
At this time, they heard the sound of a war drum coming from the horizon, 200,000 of Cao Cao's soldiers were heading toward them. Cao Cao originally lost around 25,000 men but under Guo Jia's coordination, he took out 25,000 men from Xuchang.
This reduced the amount of army to defend Xuchaang, so Cao Cao wanted to finish this battle as fast as they could to capture Lu Bu, and then he could send some of his men back to Xuchang.
Cao Cao and Lu Bu's army began to clash without much nonsense as it had previously in the Battle of Wuxing, as this time Cao Cao wanted to finish this battle early.
The 200,000 men were split into three armies by Guo Jia and Xi Zhicai, to attack the West, North, and South Gates of Puyang. Chen Gong also split the army into three sides, calculating the possibility of this happening.
Cao Cao and Lu Bu respectively led the army on the main battlefield in the West Gate, Xiahou Dun and Gao Shun led their respective army in the North Gate, and lastly, Cao Ren and Zhang Liao led their respective army on the South Gate.
The ongoing battle was fierce, both sides had something they couldn't lose especially Ku Bu who felt that if he lost this battle, he would let down his family again to live a wandering life again.
Lu Bu and Lu Lingqi stand side by side, killing Cao Cao's soldiers who climbed up the wall left and right, showing the duo dominance of Father and Daughter showing their martial arts and prowess.
At the North and South Gate, the battle was different and completely opposite to each side, as Cao Ren a formation general faced off against Zhang Liao who was a frontline general.
While Xiahou Dun a frontline general faced off against Gao Shun who was a formation general, it actually makes sense to do this pair in terms of defense, which gives Lu Bu's side an advantage.
Xiahou Dun who is a frontline general will definitely send his men to continue climbing the siege ladders while waiting for the battering ram to break through the gate, Gao Shun uses his formation and his unit the Formation Breaker to defend the wall not allowing Xiahou Dun men slip inside or found an opening.
Zhang Liao uses brute force to crush Cao Ren's formation or tactics used to send his men since the formation was of no use when his men climbed up the wall and met with Zhang Liao's brute force since they didn't have the time to enter the formation.
On the main battlefield, Cao Cao saw how Lu Bu singlehandedly supported the defense using his prowess, so he decided to send Xu Chu to have him face off against Lu Bu, sending Li Dian and Yue Jin to support him also.
Xu Chu, Li Dian, and Yue Jin passed through the sea of Cao Cao's men where they climbed up the siege ladders and finally came face to face against Lu Bu and Lu Lingqi who were killing their men as easily as slicing butter.
Lu Bu and Lu Lingqi also saw Xu Chu, Li Dian, and Yue Jin who was standing across from them, Lu Lingqi seeing Li Dian immediately remembered who he was, the man she fought against before at Puyang.
Xu Chu who was eager to test his strength against Lu Bu, immediately attacked Lu Bu using his rod hammer. Lu Bu who saw this immediately deflected the attack using his halberd, feeling the heaviness from the strike he was surprised as he saw that Xu Chu didn't have much in terms of skills, so he used just pure strength which he had never found before except for Dian Wei who he fought against in Hulao Pass.

Lu Bu feels his fighting spirit ignited, trying to redeem himself by defeating Xu Chu whom he thought was Dian Wei, the clash of Lu Bu's halberd and Xu Chu's rod hammer reverberated throughout the battlefield.
Lu Lingqi seeing how Xu Chu could stand toe to toe with Lu Bu using just pure physical strength, was surprised as this made her remember the event of Hulao Gate, where Dian Wei was the same as Xu Chu.
Remembering Hulao Gate also makes her remember Lie Fan, the man who contributed to the defeat of her father, and left an unforgettable mark on her, she shakes her head to stop thinking about Lie Fan and steps forward to support her father.
Li Dian and Yue Jin who see this immediately gang up on Lu Lingqi, Li Dian tells Yue Jin of her strength and that if it's only one of them, they can't defeat her but if they work together they can overwhelm her.
Lu Lingqi who wanted to support her father, was blocked by Li Dian and Yue Jin makes her angry, she uses her halberd and attacks both Li Dian and Gue Jin respectively, and the two show their teamwork to her.
Lu Bu and Lu Lingqi were focused on fighting against Xu Chu, Li Dian, and Yue Jin so the command of the battle was left to Chen Gong, who commanded Hou Cheng, Song Xian, and Wei Xu to support the front line.
The Battle Of Jibei will be remembered in the annals of history for the first female general participation in history was recorded, Lu Lingqi talking on Li Dian and Yue Jin showed her bravery, prowess, and skill.
Not many people could take on Li Dian and Yue Jin at the same time, especially with how well-coordinated the two had been since they entered Cao Cao's ranks due to Xiahou Dun, who sees the skills the two have.
Cao Cao seeing Xu Chu, Li Dian, and Yue Jin managed to hold back Lu Bu, ordered his men to support the three generals, taking on Lu Bu's men who were around them, he also ordered his catapults to be fired towards Jibei, collateral damage be damned.
The addition of the catapults disrupted some of Chen Gong's plans, as it managed to destroy some of the warehouses that stored their supplies, the people of Jibei in panic stole some of it, and he could only spare a small amount of men to take it back.
Chaos slightly ensued inside the city, allowing Cao Cao and his generals to take advantage of it. Chen Gong needs to redirect some of the men from the North, South, and West gate to make a small unit, to take back the supplies.
What Chen Going doesn't realize is, that taking some of the units from the North Gate under Gao Shun disrupted Gao Shun's impenetrable defensive formation, allowing Xiahou Dun to take advantage.
Xiahou Sun is a frontline general, but that doesn't mean he can't use tactics as he can be considered to be the 3rd general after Cao Ren and Yu Jin to devise a good formation or tactics before battle.
Xiahou Dun uses the opening he saw in the formation and Gao Shun who realizes that there is an opening is too late, as Xiahou Dun's men have begun to control the siege ladders position, which allows more of his men to climb up safely.
Gao Shun can only make a new defensive formation perimeter, which sacrifices some spaces and allows Xiahou Dun to control 25% of the Northern Gate Walls, Gao Shun reported this situation to Chen Gong.
Chen Gong hearing this cursed himself for being too focused on taking the supplies back, not realizing that he accidentally caused an opening to be opened and now that opening allows Xiahou Dun to enter the North Wall.
Not having that much of units in their reserve, Chen Gong takes some of the men from the West Gate to support Gao Shun, not realizing that this will be the downfall as Chen Ging was too focused on creating a balance, one that Guo Jia and Xi Zhucai have noticed.
Guo Jia and Xi Zhicai feel that the more Chen Ging tries to create a balance, the more openings are opened in his strategy and tactics that the two of them could take advantage of, considering that Xi Zhicai also knew Chen Gong for some time.
Cao Cao: "Gongtai still uses the same policy we use when fighting the Yellow Turbans? If it's a bunch of peasants and bandits that policy will work as the enemies are just sending waves of humans."
Guo Jia: "Which is why My Lord we have found an opening, the soldiers at the Western Gate have been reduced, not much but still give a considerable effect to their defense."
Xi Zhicai: "With Lu Bu being handled by General Xu Chu, we are thinking of sending General Cao Hong, Xiahou Yuan, Li Tong, and Lu Qian to support them and defeat Hou Cheng, Song Xian, and Wei Xu."
Cao Cao: "Will this allow us to Control the Western Gate? If it's so then we can proceed as what the two of you have envisioned."
Guo Jia: "Yes My Lord it will, Lu Bu has many courageous generals but the amount is smaller than the generals you have My Lord, and now being split into three fields reduces it even more."
Cao Cao nodded his head and allowed the two of them to implement their strategy, under Guo Jia and Xi Zhicai's leadership the situation on the battlefield soon changed for the worse for Lu Bu and his army.
Cao Hong, Xiahou Yuan, Li Tong, and Lu Qian participated in the main battlefield changed the favor to fall into Cao Cao's side completely, the team of Hou Cheng, Song Xian, and Wei Xu couldn't contend against them.
Lu Bu who sees this finally overpowers Xu Chu, through combined brute strength and martial arts skills he buys himself some time to support the three of them, while Xu Chu takes a moment to clear his head.
Lu Lingqi who was under siege by Li Dian and Yue Jin was also saved by Lu Bu, but this broke the balance which allowed Cao Cao's general to push them back. The presence of Xu Chu mitigates the impact of Lu Bu on the battlefield, so he can't support his army fully.
This allowed Cao Cao's generals in the West Gate to control the wall 50%, which allowed their battering ram to break through the west gate of Jibei without any problem.
Chen Gong who heard this positioned Lu Bu and his army that was positioned at the west gate to hold Cao Cao's main army off, the breach raised an arm on Chen Gong's instinct which told him they needed to flee.
The same situation happened in the North Gate of Jibei, since Xiahou Dun managed to gain a foothold on the top of the wall, his battering arm also managed to break through the gate safely without any obstruction.
Gao Shun instantly reorganized his army and had his men put a defensive formation to block Xiahou Dun's army from advancing any further, making Lu Bu and his army once again fall into a precarious situation.
Chen Gong without any communication with Lu Bu used a small unit to gather Lu Bu's family and Lu Bu's retainers' family, having them head toward the East Gate with some protection to feel Jibei.
When everything is done, Chen Gong then tells Lu Bu of what has transpired and tells him that their only choice is to retreat and abandon Jibei, it's the only way for him and his army to survive.
Lu Bu was angry that his only way was to flee again, he demanded Chen Gong think of another way, he would do anything as long as it was not fleeing Jibei. Chen Gong shakes his head, telling Lu Bu that there's no other way.
Lu Bu who wanted to argue was cut off by Lu Lingqi who came toward him in panic, telling him that Lady Yan was leading the group of his retainers' family head to the East Gate, accompanied by some units.
Hearing this, Lu Bu knew that this was part of Chen Gong's plan to persuade him, so without any choice he could only order his army to retreat, Zhang Liao and Gao Shun who were defending Jibei informed of this decision and soon joined up with Lu Bu's army heading to the Eastern Gate.
Cao Cao saw that the sound of resistance inside the city turned smaller, and ordered his men who remained outside to also enter Jibei, to take control of Jibei and consolidate his rile here once again.
Cao Cao also entered the city, meeting up with Li Dian and Li Tong, who reported to him that Lu Bu and his army were feeling Jibei through the Eastern gate, now being pursued by Xiahou Dun and Cao Ren.
Guo Jia who heard this sent Li Tong to chase them, telling them to return and not chase Lu Bu as they needed to consolidate their newly received territories from defeating Yuan Shu.
Lu Bu and his army who managed to flee from Jibei headed east without stopping, and seeing that Cao Cao's army had stopped pursuing them, Lu Bu ordered his army to take a rest.
Lu Bu ordered his generals to count the number of soldiers he had after the entire army take a stop from marching, and after some time he was informed that from 125,000 men he had around 96,000 men left.
This caused a huge blow to Lu Bu, who scolded Chen Gong to vent his anger. Chen Gong stayed silent and received all of Lu Bu's scolding, knowing that Lu Bu needed to vent the accumulated anger in his heart.
Chen Gong: "My Lord please calm your anger, right now we need to discuss our next step, what should we do now as many people are counting on you."
Lu Bu: "Humph! It's easy for you to say Gongtai, you knew I wasn't much of a thinker and planner, so why don't you say what pain you have thought off!"
Chen Gong: "Then I would like to suggest that we head to Beihai My Lord, to take refuge in Liu Bei."
Lu Bu: "Taking refuge in Liu Bei?! Are you saying for us to serve him?! Me serving Liu Bei?!"
Gao Shun: "My Lord please calm your anger, I think that's not what Master Chen Gong meant."
Zhang Liao: "That's True My Lord please calm your anger, we should plan for our next move with a cool head."
Chen Gong: "I apologize My Lord for causing such misunderstanding, that's not what I meant just like what General Gao and General Zhang said."
Chen Gong nodded his head toward them in gratitude, then he explained how Liu Bei held the Qing Province and due to his reputation, he surely would not turn them down when they requested a shelter.
He then proceeded to tell everyone they're, how they could exploit the situation and slowly took Qing Province completely from Liu Bei's hand, while slowly recuperating their strength to fight against Cao Cao once more and retake what they have.
Everyone there including Lu Bu feels like what they will do will be the same as what they have done to Cao Cao. Thinking that Liu Bei was weaker than Cao Cao, and having a smaller amount of men compared to Cao Cao, Lu Bu agreed to this plan so after resting for a day they continued east, heading toward Beihai.
