"Darling, do you love me?"
"Mom?"
Calis starts feeling uneasy watching his mother expression. The smiling mothers she remembers rarely put her smile now. Catherine caught both her shoulders when she looks Calis start trying put a little bit distance.
"Mom?!"
"Do YOU love me??" Catherine voice even it wasn't loud but the daughter in front of her already sense her fluctuation mood that bordering to hysteria.
"Mom, you are hurting me." Calis trying to struggle to escape from Catherine's painful grip.
"Answer me!!!"
Calis was rigid with terror. Not only because she feared her mother becoming more unstable but her eyes widened when she sees white smoke coming out from Catherine's chests!
Despite her tender age, she knew something bad bound to happen to her mother if her unsteady mood escalated further. She tries to calm her heart by closing her eyes, blocking outside interference and forcing her body to relax even though she really wants to scream from the pain her mother inflicted on her. She opened her eyes slowly and said with a smile.
"Of course I love you mother, truly I am. Father also loves you. You can stop now. You don't have to worry about it. Four of us will always be together."
After Calis finishes her sentence, a bluish red slight smoke also came out from Catherine's chest before swirling together with the whites that came earlier before starting detached themselves from her mother's body.
That smoke getting up slowly before moving towards the black butterflies. Once its totally disperse from Catherine, her body becomes stiff and like a string doll been snapped at arm rope, Catherine body sagged down with both hand fell limply. After a while, her dropped head rise again and her faces look disoriented.
"Mother. Are you awake now?"
"Huh?"
"Do you feel any pain?"
Catherine just now notice that she unconsciously rubbing her sternum area. She frowning a bit. Her chest feels slightly tug of pain before its totally gone. Catherine didn't want Calis to worry about her and quickly stand up. She picks up her purchase bag and a small suitcase before grabbing her daughter small hands.
"I am fine. Let's go now."
After a few steps, Catherine stopped and looks down on her only child.
"Calis, I don't like you call me mother, just call me mom."
"Okay, mom."
Catherine now feelings relief, whenever she heard Calis called her mother, her girl give the feelings of distance that she cannot cross over, furthermore the behaviour or even the way she speaks doesn't look like how normally nine years old girl should behave. But Calis's acts resemble more like a very polite stranger young adult lady been conducted themselves. Catherine doesn't like it even a bit!
Calis walk hand by hand with her mother towards the elevator that a few walks away that connected with car parks. she turned her back on that special spot and can see those three black butterflies struggling with that weird smoke before the smoke managed to absorb itself into the flying insects.
"And now all of them becomes ugly," Calis muttered silently.
