Capítulo 12: The Long Halloween part V
Three days ago
After Mallory took the plane, Diggle went back to the dojo. When Mallory told him about The Long Halloween event, even if Diggle didn't watch the news of Gotham City, he still has knowledge from his past and knew exactly what will happen. The Long Halloween was something that occurred just before Batman met the first Robin, Dick Grayson. It was an important event in the DC universe unknowingly to the others.
The character of Robin could be considered like a major event just for the Bat family, but for Diggle, it was the contrary. The world needs Robin, and more precisely Dick Grayson! Because without him, there would be no TeenTitans or no Young Justice league. (Not sure for Young justice, I think it was more because of Bart Allen but) And if there was no such thing, wally west alias Kid Flash would probably never become the great hero he's destined to become. And maybe Raven would succumbed to her father bringing the chaos in earth. And surely Super Boy would've been nothing good. And even if at a first sight it's seems like little things, but in reality, these details were essential for the future.
So when Diggle learn from Mallory that the Long Halloween start, his first reaction, was to not meddle in it an let things get done. But as he thinks of it, he suddenly remembered that the only reason Dick become Robin, was because his parents died. And for Diggle who saw his father died two times, something like this deeply touch him. When he thought about the pain Dick will feel when seeing his parents die, Diggle started to feel conflict. 'Should I save his parents? Or should I prioritising the world sake and let his parents die?' the more he thought about it, the more he felt conflict in his heart. In his previous life, he wouldn't care a bit and just do whatever he wanted while only thinking of how he could take the most profit in the situation.
But in this life, he didn't want to follow that kind of thought after what he promised on his father grave. 'But just follow my old habits for the common good is alright no?' When that line cross his mind, he immediately hate himself for thinking that. 'God! They are parents! They have children to take care of, and even if Bruce will take care of him, I don't have the right to take away his parents like that!'
Thinking of that, Diggle opened the door of the dojo and found Richard Dragon doing shadow boxing in it. When He (R) noticed Diggle, he stop and look at him with a smile "Oh, Padawan boy! If Mallory isn't here it's means that you weren't to late then. That's good" He said to Diggle as with teased him with the nickname Mallory give him "Dragon sensei" replied Diggle as greeting "Yeah it was fortunate that the plane was late to. And while we talk about travelling, I have something important to ask you"
Hearing that, Richard raised an eyebrow and said "Well no problem, but before, I want to said to you that I'm leaving. The G.O.O.D request me many times before but because of yours training, I keep delaying it. But I can't do it anymore and besides, I have nothing more to teach to you except if its to show you how to be beaten badly" When he said that, he start to laugh while giving a look at Diggle to defying him to refute his words. Things that would never happen.
But Diggle was more concerned about his master leaving. He wasn't foolish enough to think that an agent like Richard who work in a secret agency will stay with him forever. But during the past four Years, in Diggle heart, Richard became like a third father for him, and hearing that he was leaving, Diggle suddenly felt very sad. He felt like like every time he found a father to look at, he leave.
Knowing what he was thinking Richard waved his hand and said "Don't worry, it's not like we won't be in touch anymore, when I will have time, I will go to Gotham to say hello so clean me that sad face on you, will you?" hearing that, Diggle felt more at ease but at the same time he noticed something 'That right! I no longer have anything to do here! In the first place I only came to train. Now that Dragon sensei is leaving, why should I stay?'
" So, what did you want to ask me?" said Richard, interrupting Diggle's thoughts.
"Ah yeah. I have a problem. Let say that somehow I know that someone will practically saved the world in the future because soon, he will become a hero. But for being that hero, he's parents will have to die or else he will never become one. So should I let his parents die, or I should let that happen to save the world later?" when heard the question, Richard wasn't at least surprised. After all his other pupils could see the future. "This is a difficult question, Dig. When I was doing missions, I was often confronted to such choices at my level of course and I always chose the later. But that, was because my job isn't to be a superhero, but to save humanity. For you, it's different" explained Richard slowly. "So I have to save his parents then?" asked Dig for confirmation, but was refute by Richard
"No! You, have to ask what kind of hero you want to be. You aren't as invisible as Superman so saving everyone is impossible for you, and I doubt even him can. Your not as fast as the Flash from Central city and can't follow the path of the Green Arrow or Batman because you choice act in the light. But the choice you will made today, can perhaps lead you in an even darker way than the one these two chose, so think carefully. Do you really want to be that hero in the light? After all you were born in Gotham, somewhere that have never seen that kind of hero"
Listening to Richard, Dig couldn't refute his words. Once upon a time, there was a hero in Gotham city. It was the first Green Lantern human. But as a Green Lantern he work more in the space than in a little city like Gotham. So saying that he was a hero of Gotham would be overboard. Moreover, not many people know him. But Diggle, him plan to stay in the city. That was the difference. And like Richard said they have never seen a hero in Gotham fighting in the light. 'But that why I will be the first! 'said Diggle with resolution 'Even if I am not as awesome as the other superheros in my category, at least I will try to save as many people as can. Even if it may fail or bring disaster after, the job of a hero is to save people no matter the danger!'
Having cleared all his doubt, Diggle asked Richard to get him a plane in for tomorrow night. Richard agree easily seeing that his pupil finally reach the moment were he would spread his wings and fly in the sky. "And will you do tomorrow?" asked Richard because he seriously doubt that Diggle will stay in his Boarding school. "Well, all superheros have a super costume right? Time for me to get one. The old one was a little to...Dark" replied Diggle with a bright smile.

Two days later in the afternoon Mallory and Diggle's HQ
(It's the house of their childhood friends if you don't remember)
When Diggle went into the house, he noticed that new security device were installed. Even in the Attic. The last he went there, he installed a space stone of the size of a finger inside his Safe who worked as HQ for him at the same same time as a genarator for the whole house. That space stone contrary to red one Mallory and him carry, apart from being white, didn't possess the ability to freeze any objects inside.
But inside, we could at least receive information from the outside and could fuse with other white stone to increase their space and could even contain peoples or other type of space stone storage inside. But four years ago, the capacity of space was much greater than the red one. But now, in the space inside the red one could at least contain a small island like Blackgate Island. Making the white one a toy for kids.
But Diggle fortunately had of course planned this and take out a white stone of size of soocer ball. Meaning that inside, he could probably fit three time Gotham inside. After he fused the two, he take out a ring with a little blue stone inside. It was the only thing that could help him enter inside the HQ.
When he enter, he found himself in an entirely white space. There was a super and big computer who keep showing news in the world but can obviously do much better than that. Next to it and a little farther a space dedicated for training with all the equipment necessary for it. And next to the super computer, was what it seems to be a part specialized for experiments with a lot a scientific stuff and unknown materials that Diggle create in the past. "Home sweet home! But HQ need more decorations it's too empty!" said Diggle while contemplating his HQ. He then then took place behind his computer and said "OK, let's get all the information I don't have on this universe Long Halloween before tonight"
After that, Diggle learnt that apart from Harvey Dent who never receives acid so never become Two-Face, almost all event were the same, except something important "Weird, there's no Janice Porter who's in charge of Alberto Falcone's case. In the original timeline m, she was the one who was behind the Holiday thing to get in Harvey favors. But if she'not the one who incite Alberto, that means one, Alberto do work alone or the original Holiday is another person. But who? Harvey himself?" Diggle pondered a moment on it and start search for possible target in the Harvard Pormo of when Harvey was (Not sure if it's Harvard but who cares) because its there that Harvey Dent and Janice Porter met. Diggle was so focus in his research that if it wasn't for the Alarm clock of the computer, he would almost forget for the circus "Well time for me to meet that Grayson Mallory don't stop talking about"

Haly's Circus
When Diggle arrived in the Circus, he still had 30 minutes before the show start. 'Well I know that the ropes would be sabotaged so let's start by that' he thought as he entered in the tent. Getting into the staff member only place was an easy thing because there was no security for that. But finding were the Accessories were, that was to complicated for Diggle who had almost no sens of direction plus the fact that the hallways in the tent was like a maze. It took him almost all his time to find it, and the show was going to begin in less than ten minutes.
When he get there, three person of the staff were here already but he didn't care. He immediately changed the rope with knew ones without explanation. Fortunately when the staff saw him do it, they didn't say a thing because he didn't do nonsense or attempted to mess up with the material, but they still gaze him with a with a question mark.
"Dick ask me to do it" He replied without worrying for lying. Even if it wasn't the truth, it was indeed for him he did that.
After that, Diggle wait until they installed the rope so he could be satisfied that nobody mess up with them. Feeling like he did a good job saving a life, he prepared to go to the public space, when Billy, the voice he named in his head start to talk.
<<I don't know why you did that, because it will be in vain>> Billy said stunning Diggle "What? Why's that?"
<<Because like I said to you a long time ago, those who have extraordinary potential in this world, would have to experience a real pain in the heart. And Charles Dick Grayson have an extraordinary potential. So no matter what you will try, or his parents die or something more harsh will happen to him. Furthermore, in DC universe more than anywhere else, when you change the course of an major event, the consequences would be more than just severe so be aware>>
Hearing that, Diggle start to recall that indeed, in the comic, every time someone tried to change something by going in the past or future like Barry Allen often do, it always creates big crisis that almost every time lead the world at the verge of destruction. But like Barry Allen Diggle was a stubborn one 'I don't care, I will continue' he said in his head causing Billy so said
<<Well good luck, because Not only it won't be easy to prevent their death, but moreover you will provoc a disaster after. Just so you know, if you succeed in doing so, I will take some days off. I don't want to be in your head when you'll die>>
Thirty minutes later, Diggle finally found the public area thanks to Dick indications and start to watch the show who has already started since a long time already. In the bleachers opposites to him, Her mother was happily chatting with Selina and Mallory while Bruce was like searching secretly for something. When he noticed them, Diggle couldn't help but gaze at her mother for almost 15 minutes with nostalgia and guilt in his heart.
What Mallory said about him was true, he never blame his mother for sending him to Paris, and he did fear that the moment he would see her again, he wouldn't want to back again. But that was all in the past, because now, nothing could stop him from coming back. Her mother did ask them many times if they wanted to return, but because of the training, he always said no.
While he was daydreaming, Diggle noticed that, Bruce for an odd reason never stopped to look in his way from time to time. And every time, he frown a little more his eyebrows.
'Hum fortunately, I have a Hood or else, he would have instantly recognised me. But I still think he have some suspicion seeing his look'
Fortunately, after thirty minutes Bruce leave from his sit and went in hallway causing Diggle to breath a little from relief.
As the show continued to Hook the people more and more, it was already almost the time for the Flying Grayson to appear, when Diggle noticed that Mallory suddenly started to act strangely. And just when he was going to focus his attention on her she suddenly stood up and went away causing Diggle to goggled his eyes 'What happened? The way I now her, even if apocalyptic were to send there, she would never move from her place!'
Thinking about it, Diggle didn't linger and also stood up to gain the corridors. But sadly, the time were he reach out the path she should have take, ten minutes were already out causing him to be dejected and curse the corridors. Not seeing here and not knowing we're she went, Diggle was preparing to leave when he noticed something hidden behind a pole stuck between it and hidden by the tent. Being curious, stooped and stretch his arm to reach it. But he saw what he was holding in his hand, he almost threw it unconsciously due to the fright. Because what he was holding was a bomb!
He didn't have the time to think of how or what than suddenly "Hey what are you doing here?" caught off guard, Diggle quickly hid the bomb behind him as he was turning to face a red hair boy with a candid face. But what Diggle did hasn't gone unnoticed by the red hair boy who quickly asked with suspicion "What are you hiding behind your back?" "Me? Nothing. And in fact it's not even...!" Tried to reply Diggle, but before he could even finish, a weird thing happened. Sparks suddenly appear for a second in the space between them, the wind blew a little, and the next moment, the red hair boy was holding the bomb in his hand.
When he saw that, Diggle instantly checked his hand and Indeed the bomb was no longer in his hands. "You..." started to say Diggle, but was instantly cut by the red boy who was angry.
"What were you planning to do with that bomb? Killing people?" he said accusing him immediately. When he heard that, Diggle wanted to explain himself, but the boy didn't let him, and suddenly decided that the best way set that was to make him fainted, with his fist. Being fifteen meter apart from Diggle, the boy only need a second to reach him. So with his speed and the force in it, making a twelve years old boy fainted was pretty easy for him, but that was for normal boys. And here he was against Diggle.
While Diggle didn't react at first, it was only because he didn't expect to meet a speedster here. It didn't mean that Diggle could see him, just that these past four years, he learn how to fight someone who was six time more faster than him and another who was three time more faster than him because of her ability to see the future. Meaning that he had four years time to think of a counterattack for people who were to fast for his eyes to follow.
The moment Diggle didn't see him, he instantly raised a barrier of air compressions around him with a thought.
Crack!
The moment after, a loud sound of broken bone was heard and the boy reaper in front Diggle On his knees crying Loudly while holding his right arm"AAAAAH!!! What... What happened?!"
When Diggle heard his complaint, he act like he didn't hear him and "Listen, there's no need to fight. The bomb isn't..." but red hair boy still wasn't ready to hear his explanations and again dispear.
Diggle cast another barrier again and the boy reappear once again, but this time without other injuries. He Looked at Diggle a moment before frowning and stated "You're a meta human" after that, Yellow lightnings start to appear around him while he took a battle stance before once again disappearing causing Diggle to sigh while casting his barrier again.
But this time, nothing bumped against it. When he saw that, Diggle turn his head, to see the boy Vibrate so fast that Diggle could only see the the shape of a human, but clearly see it. At first, Diggle was wondering why did the boy do that, but when the latter start to move, he knew. The boy was phasing with the compress air so he could pass it and reach him. But obviously, Diggle was going to let him succeed. He then created a mini tornado of a basketball size and shape and compress it to the size of a Ping pong ball then throw it.
The whole process only took half a second. Against a speedster, being faster wasn't necessary. All it need, was an unavoidable strike. And when a speedster start to phase, there was a short moment where they couldn't move, making any fast attacks to them at that moment, and they wouldn't be able to react in time to retaliate.
And that was exactly what Diggle did to the boy. When the tornado hit him, it had enough power to send him fly twenty meter away in a second. But it didn't stop here, one second after he was in the air, the tornado while still against his chest, explode. The second chock was more dreadful, because even send some choc waves around but not enough powerful to cause any ruckus. But it was enough to make the boy break-through the roof and fly further and further away. When he saw that, Diggle start to laugh with a bitter smile "Oh boy, I may have gone a little overboard. Ah whatever he was looking for it" As he said, Diggle wanted to follow him by flying, but he suddenly stop himself before smiling. 'if I'm going to fight him, I have to do it a certain style' he thought.
After that, a red light start to shine brightly in the corridor blinding everyone who may have passed there at the moment for a minute, before fading away.
When light was gone, Diggle had a different outfit and not only. His Brown hair and eyes turn golden. He now wore a long white Hooded cloak with red borders. Under it he's a futuristic like suit (imagine a suit like the Flash in future or Spiderman of 2060 something) in with mostly bright red color in the front with white colour on the sides. And on the chest were a white and golden stylish angel wings, spread to his shoulders.
After he suit up, Diggle flew to were the boy direction at his fastest speed. Fortunately, the boy, Landed in a park so it didn't create any accidents, but the ground had now a place Shaved from their flower and grass of almost ten meter. Seeing that, Diggle shook his head a little while smiling wryly before focus his attention to the boy who was starting to get up.
And when the boy noticed Diggle arrival, he didn't recognise him and just take him for the local hero. "Hey you wingman or whatever your name, can you help me catch a villain please? He planned to explode a circus and he's quite a headache to beat" the boy said.
When Diggle heard him, he couldn't help but laugh "You tried to beat me earlier, and now you're asking for my help? Haha this is hilarious!" hearing Diggle the red hair boy asked in disbelief "You..you are him? But.. But... Wait why did your hair turn golden? No, more importantly, You Have Failed This City wingman! Time to repent for your crime!" (Guess the reference ^^)
Listening to his nonsense and most importantly the way he called him, Diggle's mouth start to twitch. 'Wingman hun...' if he was in an anime, a big red cross mark would appear on his forehead at the moment.
" You... First you attack people without checking if he's really a villain, and then you start randomly give names on him! You really pissed me off now!" Diggle said with an anger tone. But like he only heard a part the said "Humf, in what are you not a villain? You were holding a bomb! That's it, I'm done playing with you! This time I'm going to be serious!" when he said said that, He turned on himself creating lighting and then extend his right arm and did a grabbing motion in the air. After that, lightning start to gather in right hand. When he stop turning on himself, he throw the lighting in Diggle direction... But missed by a large margin.
Following that an embarrassing silence settled before Diggle break it by laughing loudly. "So this is your serious mode? I think I prefer when you were to lazy to put all your strength in the fight hahaha! When I still could could fight against you! Hahaha!" Diggle mocked on the boy, who was red from embarrassment.
No longer able to endure more, the boy wanted to reply, but then, something wake them up both. The sound of an explosion, and the direction was "Haly's Circus...The bomb explode!" said boy worried. He then took of his His clothes and revealed a yellow suit with a lightning in a circle on his chest. Not having the time to care about his identity revealed (it's not like you didn't do it by showing your power...) he start to run in the direction of the Circus following closely by Diggle.
When they reach the circus, what was waiting for them was only chaos. People running everywhere in panic and other only caring for their life. And as for the circus...it was already half destroyed and half in fire. Leaving almost no hope for those who still inside to survive.
"This is... Your bomb was able to create that?" said the boy half impressed but more worried about people life. "It's not my bomb! But I don't think that just the one I found could do that. Let not waste anymore time and save the people inside" suggested Diggle approved by a nodded from the boy.
But just when they were about to enter, they saw a clown like guy with a mask throwing flaming torches who exposed in midair to a guy in a black ninja like outfit while running with all with might.
That caused the two boy to froze for a moment trying to register what just happened.
"Did I just saw a clown Pursued by.....a ninja?" asked the red hair boy in disbelief. "Yep" comfirm Diggle slowly, not believing in it himself "And he just throws at him flaming Firecracker torches?" "Yep" repeat Diggle.
"Gotham is too weird" "Agreed"
A minute passes as they were still trying to figure out if they really saw what they saw
Until Diggle try to remember the look of the ninja, he suddenly feels like it look a little like his assassin's outfit 'Don't tell me...' He thought while having a bad feeling. He then turn his head to the red hair boy and said
"I'll go to see who they are, maybe they are involved in that disaster. You'll be in charge of saving those still inside the tent. I'll be back in a few minutes" not leaving the choice for protestations, Diggle flew to the direction by were they left.
When he reach them, the clown was gone replaced by a ninja surrounded by an army of gangsters.
"Well, well, well. What a big fish we have here. The Sleeping Ghost of Gotham in person. More stealth than Batman himself. It said that no matter how many people we send at you at the same time, they will fall in your sleeping darts. And that you could even dodge a bullet at less than one meter from you no matter the amount" Suddenly said the one just in front of the Ninja menacing him with a gun in the forehead.
Hearing that, Diggle start to have some doubt because he was almost certain that Mallory wouldn't break....
"Oh I'm that famous Mr.Zucco? It's flattering." replied The Sleeping Ghost with a female voice who sounded really familiar in Diggle's ears 'WHAT THE.... YOU DARE!!' I thought in head with anger. Obviously Diggle understood that The Sleeping Ghost was a local famous person here. Meaning that it wasn't her first time playing vigilante. 'Mallory....You dare.... Humpf....Then let see how you get out of that situation then! And after that...'
While he was saying that like Mallory was truly in danger, Diggle didn't think so. Not with guy stupid enough to his at less than a meter from Mallory. And with her insane reflex plus her ability to see the future, for them to take her down they'll need more real abilities than just know how to hold a gun.
But as Diggle was waiting for Mallory to take them down the leader and Mallory keep talking causing Diggle to sense that something was amiss 'somethings weird. Mallory love fighting more than talking, so why didn't she already break some arms already?' thought Diggle while raising his hands and command the air to gather. As the time passed, Diggle grew more and more worried until suddenly it struck him 'Don't tell me that she went out with her abilities out? No she's not that foolish right?' he thought worriedly, but he saw that Mallory had no guard at all like she was prepared to die when the gang leader was going to shot, it just confirms his suspicions.
Before anyone below could do anything else, he strike all the power of air he gather on the leader.
BOOOM!
The moment after, he was already out, but Diggle hadn't planned to leave it there.
