Since night during late autumn would normally drop into a single digit temperature, Han Meixiu started to feel cold. Their slow movement didn't help her to feel a little warmer.
The three of them were still hiding in the darkness waiting for their people. Without them, they couldn't just face head what was waiting for them up front.
The young woman's slight shivering didn't go unnoticed.
Liu Zijian slowly pulled his wife and embrace her from the back while both were leaning on the tree. He didn't have extra coat thus he could only use his body's warmth.
Would Han Meixiu resist?
Of course not.
Even if it's summer and she would sweat endlessly, she wouldn't dare to resist this kind of gesture from him. She tried her best not to smile.
She knew it's bad to wish for the time to stop and the arrival of those people they're waiting would take longer, but she couldn't help it.
The arms that were wrapped around her felt home.
When Liu Zijian rested his head on her shoulder as he immersed himself with her scent, Han Meixiu knew she was blushing profusely. It was good that it's dark.
Never mentioned her heart. It has been injected with drugs that it kept overly active. She looked at the other man who was with them and when she saw him not paying attention to them, a smile finally escaped on her face. Just to make sure nobody would see her excessive happiness, she even covered her face with both of her hands while the other one was still holding the gun.
Few minutes of silence passed by when a strong sound of motorbike approaching was heard followed by several gunshots.
The three instantly became alert.
Liu Zijian knew this time, none of his people brought a motorbike. The motorbike swiveled avoiding the shots. There were actually two people riding on it.
As it about to pass their car, the two people jump out it and rolled in two separate direction. The riders of the motorbike clearly used the car as a distraction even letting the unmanned motorbike slammed into side of the car before continuing to its own destruction.
One of the people was coming near their direction.
Liu Zijian couldn't help but cursed as he raised his head. He normally wanted to take a short rest but in the end it was bound to be disrupted.
They might be found out by this incident.
When the person who jumped in their direction saw them, it drew out a weapon. The three of them also pulled their guns.
But what surprised them was when the person spoke.
"Meixiu? Why are you here?"
Han Meixiu became startled.
'A woman?'
'Oh please, don't tell me I also have a relationship with her?' She cried inwardly. If this person really had a relationship with her, she swore she didn't want to recall her memories.
The woman who recognized Han Meixiu then looked at the man who pulled the latter behind him. It was an act protecting her against the new comer.
"Second Young Master Liu?"
Recognizing the woman, Liu Zijian lowered his weapon and signaled the other man to do the same.
There was a silent understanding that they're not enemies.
Upon hearing another set of sounds, the woman wanted to apologize.
"Sorry, I was being chased..."
"Let's move." Liu Zijian abruptly cut the other words the woman wanted to say.
True enough, not long after a two cars came. Since the area was serenely quiet, they could even heard some faint voices.
"Where are your people?" Liu Zijian irritably asked. They could have been relaxing if not for this woman going in their direction.
"Well, there's only the two of us left." The woman answered. It took longer than expected to find what she's been looking for.
If they didn't run out of gas, because they actually got lost looking for a suitable exit, they wouldn't abandon that motorcycle and split.
Now that she saw this Second Young Master, she could ask for a ride going out this place. But she didn't want to inflict danger to the woman who seemed guarded against her.
And speaking of Han Meixiu, she seemed weird.
She understood the sudden surprised earlier after calling her name since this place was not some kind of cozy coffee shop where normal reunion could happen, but the reaction after that - it was a bit off.
"Your people might have a hard time coming over. They were outnumbered. The communication was restored so was the power supply."
Liu Zijian more or less expected it. But hearing the direct 'report' from the woman, was a totally different thing.
"We should split." She continued. "Since I inflicted this, I will bait them away from you guys." She said and quickly left before anyone could react.
Liu Zijian ordered the other man to follow the woman and dragged his wife in a different direction.
They could only go further in that forest. Since communication was restored, it meant their opponent could ask for a back up.
Them on the other hand, couldn't call as it would be easier to locate them in this area by their enemies.
They're clearly in a disadvantage. What they could do was to stay safe while stalling some time. If he wouldn't return from the expected time clearly, additional men would be dispersed.
Liu Zijian could only hoped that they could stay safe until then.
They continued to walk in silence. From time to time Liu Zijian would stop to listen if there's an incoming people.
'Did the two successfully divert that group?' Liu Zijian asked himself. Since it seemed nobody was following them.
He decided to stop that made Han Meixiu looked up even though she couldn't see him clearly.
"How many bullets do you have?" Liu Zijian asked.
"Probably 8."
The young man just nodded. It's not enough. If they want to take down some people effectively, they should plan well. He's fully aware with his wife's capabilities when it comes to shooting. But in most cases, she only practiced non-moving targets.
But they couldn't also continue to walk aimlessly. He's actually worried that they might be cornered in this place.
This kind of impromptu 'infiltration' that was indeed lacking of an intensive plan wasn't really good.
"Are we going to face them head on?" Han Meixiu cautiously asked breaking his line of thought.
"Can you shoot a moving target?"
"I'm not sure but I can try." She answered. She didn't want to be a burden. If he would say shoot she would without hesitation.
Liu Zijian, pulled the young woman in his embrace. He's actually having a complicated thoughts. They could get out in this vast darkness faster if they would gamble.
Should they wait or should they move?
Waiting would be uncertain since they didn't know how long they should wait plus, he didn't know if she could stand the coldness in this kind of place.
