Liu Zijian looked at the woman who was earnestly waiting for his response. He didn't realize that the longer he remained silent the more her anxiety grew. Her eyes were starting to show a defeated spirit. It was as if the lights from within were starting to dim little by little.
He bowed down a little and let his forehead touched hers before he subtly spoke.
"There's no other woman more suitable than you. I only have one wife and that is you. There's no such things as other woman. And I already told you, I won't leave you." He earnestly said. Their eyes were just few centimeters apart and they could clearly see each other's reflection.
His voice was similar to a morning breeze tenderly blowing and giving a reassuring promise of a new wonderful day.
Han Meixiu nodded as she slowly processed the words Liu Zijian said. Her eyes were blinking in a uniform and unhurried manner as her mind gently unravel the meaning of those words.
As she gradually understand him, her eyes started to glimmer as her lips formed an elusive smile at first. She hugged him again and her sweet smile got wider as she snuggled in his embrace.
She heard his beating heart in unison with hers. It was like a powerful music that washed away her worries.
She heard him continued.
"Meixiu, don't bring out this kind of topic again."
He didn't want to see that kind of look on her face again especially if the reason was an absurd one. Her eyes that were on the verge of spilling her tears were too much for him and when he felt her tears, something squeezed tightly inside.
"Okay." She obediently answered without lifting her head as she closed her eyes feeling blissful.
It wasn't even a minute yet when she perked up again that made Liu Zijian startled.
'What it is this time?' He asked himself. 'Every time she's behaving this way, she would ask a ridiculous question out of nowhere.'
"I need to tell something to Mingxia!" She said and left immediately. She remembered that they were in the middle of talking an important matter when she was attacked by her cousin's words.
Before he could say a word, Han Meixiu already disappeared from his arms. He sighed hopelessly as the source of warmth disappeared from his embrace. Still there was a lingering smile plastered on his gorgeous face as he watched his wife energetically regained her composure.
He then turned around to tidy up the table in the study. The reports were still needed to be reviewed and discussed but his brother went out to gave them a private time.
Now that his wife was already fine, it's time to continue their discussion. He strode towards the door and saw Liu Zilong walking in but he seemed staggering.
He was just out for a while, what could have happen?
Han Meixiu went back on her track. She was ready to fight Han Mingxia's words and continue their exchange of ideas. But when she arrived in supposed to be her cousin's room, she was no longer there.
She also noticed the pencil on the floor and the blank papers.
'She took the image but didn't even bid goodbye to me.' She muttered to her self.
She then remembered that it was actually the reason why she dropped by in the first place, to ask for her familiarity about that image. Now that she already provided her some information then she has no more reason to stay.
She let a long sigh. She didn't want to admit but she's a bit worried for her. She hoped to see her again.
She also wanted to know more about her father and the group they both belong to. There was a bit of enviousness inside her when Han Mingxia told her that her father helped her. But she's also thankful that it was her father whom her cousin met.
As she walked back to the study she saw Liu Zijian coming out seemingly puzzled as he looked at the direction of the door. She followed his gaze and saw Liu Zilong.
"Brother Long, are you okay?" She worriedly asked.
Both Liu brothers glanced at Han Meixiu.
"Yeah, I'm okay. You're cousin left. She said she'll see you again." Liu Zilong answered and released a carefree smile.
Liu Zijian knew his brother didn't want to talk about what happened and as much as possible he wanted to take a rest already. With just simple glances, the two understood one another. He then came to his wife before he spoke.
"It's getting late. Let's retire for the day as well."
Han Meixiu simply nodded. Although she wanted to ask more about Han Mingxia she swallowed her words.
"Goodnight, Brother Long." She said turning quickly before she accepted Liu Zijian's hand.
"Good.." Liu Zilong wanted to answer as well but he suddenly felt a chill making his words cut abruptly.
Liu Zijian upon hearing Han Meixiu, looked at his brother with menacing eyes then to her with knitted eyebrows.
"Why did you tell him 'goodnight?'"
Han Meixiu became confused when she answered, "Because we are about to sleep?" She didn't know but for some reason her husband seemed annoyed? But what could be wrong by simply saying 'goodnight'?
"Don't say it to him again or to any other people." He simply said and suddenly carried Han Meixiu in princess style as he walked towards their room swiftly. It was as if he didn't want her to stay longer in that area.
Because of the sudden action, Han Meixiu yelped while she immediately wrapped her arms around his neck. "It's just a simple greeting." She murmured but Liu Zijian didn't react as he continued to walk.
'Is he mad?' She asked herself. She didn't want to believe that a simple innocent greeting would be enough reason for her husband to act like this.
Liu Zilong was left feeling lost in the living room. He asked himself, 'What the f**k just happened?'
He felt his brother became suddenly hostile towards him. But what did he do? 'Don't tell me, that simple goodnight was something to be jealous about?' It would simply be ridiculous if it's indeed true.
Sorry dear readers, my update might not be consistent for the next few days. I've been very busy lately.
I can only write when I'm in the subway and normally around 200 to 300 words.
This chapter actually took me two days to complete since my free time became very limited.
Rest assured when my schedule get a little better again, I'll publish at least two chapters per day.
Thank you for still reading this story.
