There was something that she considered seriously and it was the fact that Alexis was a mother to her child first and then a help to someone she knows through her child. 

Why would you choose to help someone over Salvatore? 

Evelyn gave her a quick and easy smile before patting Alexis's hand. "Nothing..it's just," she looked away when she felt the familiar feeling of tears building up in her eyes. 

"The miscarriage really messed up things between us and then I got sick—"

"Now that cannot possibly be true," Alexis intervened and her expression hardened from the gentle one that she had previously had on her face.
