The rest of the day was peaceful after Takumi destroyed the invading enemies. The people were nervous that the side of their village was open, so the army maintained guard with their tanks. Chiho was sent again at dusk to see what's the enemies are up to. After some time, she reported back saying that there are low activities at the base and it calms the village a little. With that said, the crews on the field went back to the village to rest. When it is eight in the evening, Takumi and her party finally broke away from their guarding duties and returned to the Inn with Chiho and the others.
When they arrived, Suzuka quickly greeted them and appreciated them for their hard work. They all went to their own rooms to change into the Inn's clothes. Chiho invited Takumi for a dinner down the Inn and they headed downstairs. At the bar, they saw Nagami and her crew slumped down at the counter. Nagami heard their footsteps and raised her head towards them. "Ah, Takumi. Sit here..." She slapped the seat to her left twice. Takumi noticed her right hand on the counter. "Chiho wanted to seat beside you, so... Please!" Takumi pushed Chiho towards the seat, but Nagami pushed her away and forcefully dragged Takumi by her shoulder next to her. "I'm still haven't forgiven you for that stunt you did" Nagami grabbed her collars and pulls her close, bringing their faces together. "I.. I'm sorry alright?!" Takumi tried to push away but Nagami pulls her back with strength. "You had no idea how it HURTS!" Nagami then grabbed her left chest to demonstrate the pain. "Kyaa...!!!" Takumi shouted in the thinnest voice. "Huh...?!" Nagami blushed hard, and so Takumi. "I-I-I'm ticklish there!" She covered her chest with both of her arms and leaned down. "A-Ah..." Nagami looked down to the counter in embarrassment.
They heard some of the other customers calling her cute and they can't do anything about it. "Now we're even, you bitch" Takumi looked up to Nagami. Her face is flushed in embarrassment. "I'll never forget about this...!" She whispered. "Why the hell did you do that?!" She asked. "I...I..." Nagami couldn't think straight. The others were just staring at the two of them, stunned. After a minute, their dinner arrived. Alice carefully laid the plates accordingly. After finishing, She silently bowed and walked away. The heat dies down as they munch on their dishes.
Later, Nagami stopped eating. "Actually..." She slightly looked in Takumi's direction. "Do you know about World Code 43F39?" She asked. "Göthimfury?" Takumi replied with a name, making her look. "Wow. You remembered it" Nagami looked amazed. "I only knew about it from Tamie, right?" Takumi looked to her left, past Chiho. Tamie looked, chewing down her food. "I found it interesting. It seems that they have powers as well" Takumi said. "She told me that it's set like the Norse mythology" She added. "Yup. They have a place they loved that seems like Valhalla... Did Tamie-san mention a village called Roghan?" Nagami asked. "I think so, yeah" Takumi nodded. "Roghan was insolent towards us because they thought we were having a good relationship with their rival villages. They pretended to behave and we bite the bait. Ryujo, who was in charge of the outpost near the village, transferred some of the garrisons to the frontline. I was unfortunate to be unchosen because one day, the Roghan launched an assault against us. They took advantage. We had guns but they had the numbers. We were able to report quick and Mariyou had no choice but to use that power since she was busy" Nagami shook her head.
"That was my first time. We all fell to the ground... That damned power chooses no ally... When I woke up, it's been like, for goddamn two months!" She took a portion of her food and stuffs them into her mouth. "I also heard that some of our guys didn't wake up. It was scary" She said. "Huh... No wonder she tried to amplify that power. The one I learned is her amplified variant and the one that is taught to the goddesses that are entrusted to the safety of the Kumori Daiwa. It is less deadly and effective than the original, this one is more of like a crowd control" Takumi said. "Good. I don't want to sleep again for months" Nagami giggled and proceeds to eat. "Я этого не гарантирую... (Can't promise you that)" Takumi then focused on her food with a smile. "Я убью тебя. Обещаю. (I will kill you. I promise)" Nagami responded. "Ублюдок. После всего этого время? (You bastard. After all these times?)"
Suddenly, the door busted open. All heads turned in its direction and saw a girl on the floor, struggling to catch her breath. "Chris-san?!" Chiho ran and helped her up. "Chiho...Something happened... Alice..." Her eyes wandered around. "Sister?!" Alice appeared from the kitchen and ran to hug her sister. Chris kissed her forehead and asked. "Alice... are you okay?". Alice stayed for a second before looking up. "Yes... Suddenly, my... I felt like my chest... or rather..." She rubbed her left chest. "I know... I felt it too... We, rather" Chris dragged her close again and rubbed her back.
At the back, Takumi was stared at. "I think everyone here deserves an apology, Takumi" Nagami smirks. "Ugh..." Takumi sighed and stood up lazily. "Um..." She started by getting their attention. Most of the customers, including Chris, looked. "I, uh... I was the one who... did that thing" She said. Confusing most of them. "What?!" Chris suddenly jumps up, her hands clenched tight. Alice and Chiho were able to hold her back from making any more movements. "C-calm down, sister..." Alice said. "I'm sorry, alright? I didn't intend to harm anyone and it was harmless, it won't kill you. I wanted to show Chiho about this" Takumi explained. "Should have warned us" Chris said. Takumi turned to her with a brow raised. "What? Use a megaphone? A big fucking loudspeaker and shout throughout the village?" She asked. "The enemies were charging once again and that time it was a different group. I had no time and as I said, it's harmless. I'm sorry" Takumi grumpily sat back to her seat.
"Should have learned the real one so the ones who whine die" She muttered to herself. "Chill. You're not the one who's supposed to be pissed in this" Nagami chuckled. They all settled down later. Chris asked to sit beside Takumi. Chiho volunteered. The rest of them moved to the right for Chiho. "What did you show to her, then?" Chris looked like she hasn't moved on yet. "Okay..." Takumi sighed as she scoops up a portion of her food and stuffed them into her mouth. She quickly munched them and gulped them down. "It's the power of a Goddess. Or someone far greater than a Goddess. Mariyou Surigawa, ring any bells?" She asked and Chris shook her head. "Chiho and her friends met this Mariyou before, she can fill you if you want to know more. That power came from her. It puts stinging pain on everyone's hearts in the whole world" Takumi explained the full details of the power.
"What the hell..." Chris scratched her head. "What happened to this world..." She asked, bringing Takumi's attention. "Your world was unfortunate to be found by us" Takumi laid her elbow on the counter and rests her head on her hand, staring at Chris. "It amazes me... You get to hear these stories from children or from books that are authored by famous fiction authors. Then suddenly, it becomes true" She smiled, showing how fascinated she is. "Aliens, zombies, time travels, portals... You hear them and you believe at first. Then you realize it's stupid and fictional, made by just another mere human living in the same world as you, possibly dreaming and hoping for them to become real as well. You won't even believe that a person can predict anything" Then she giggled, covering her mouth.
"Then all hell breaks loose, those goddamn stories become real one random day. Fucking people from the future invading your world. If not an Invasion, they will convince you that they come from the future while showing the differences in almost everything starting from the people itself to their technologies, acting as the evidence of all that chaos" Her eyes wandered up the roof. "Basically, you're experiencing what most of the Prohorovkans have felt. We all experienced this certain experience" She looked at Chris and smiled. "Talking about experiences, how was yours?" Mariko asked. "Oh? Haven't I told you already?" Takumi turned to her. "Well... It was year 2005 when they visited us, we were ten years apart from Shichiro's. Since we both live in the modern era, he didn't have the balls to invade my country" She laughed. "I was just a countryside child. I was chilling at my house, reading books. Then we heard their tanks and marches approaching. They disturbed the peace, man. They talked to our neighbors, probably trying to be friendly so they can take away their son and daughter with them. They did that for two days, which means we also got visited. The JSDF knew they were there and they clashed five minutes after they left our house" She said.
"JS..." Mariko looked curious. "It's our military" Takumi replied. "Their battle lasted four days. Shichiro hasn't relied on powers back then so they exchanged bullets against our forces" She said. "Then they tricked our neighbors into evacuating the area. My god if you all saw how friendly they tried to look. There are even humanitarian aids! So disgusting!" She laughed with a hint of disgust. "Of course I wasn't tricked. I knew what's up but my parents didn't. They just dragged me where the PTRD tells them to. Then Maeru came and made us a deal. A deal so unfair. I had to leave my family so they can be guaranteed protected" She looked down at her food and ate. "It's sad and seems shady but hey, they kept their promise, and look what happened to me! A goddamn demi-god!" She spreads her arms.
Suddenly, she became quiet. Her smile fades and her arms dropped. "Takumi?" Nagami called. "Shichiro's retiring though" Takumi sat properly. "PTRD is finally going to end her long journey. The loyal people who served until the end will finally return to their normal lives. Unless you know" She smiled in the way of someone who has malicious intent. She made sure everyone notices her by giggling. "We are millions. I'm sure there's at least one person who's hungry for power. There will be real fucking rebellion and this time the victor leads the organization" She said. "And you're..." Nagami looked at her suspiciously. "Oh your thoughts are right, I'm down to any of that stuff and the thrill of having to know who to trust and who to betray, oh it's very exciting" Everyone was weirded out. They remained silent. After a second, Nagami spoke. "Don't let your powers overcome your senses" She said. "Every person you met, befriended. Those you see every day. The very place and this large group of people you worked with all these years. They're gonna turn on you, it will be sad. You fight and see people you used to see, talk to, and your memories with them appear in your mind. That same scenario will keep happening until you totally break and go berserk" She added.
"Most of the antagonist changes their minds right after their defeat, Takumi. If fictions do that, so is reality" She scooped up a portion of her food and ate. "Mariyou and her allies will team up on you and make sure you'll never exist the next day as well" She said. "Please. Don't do any of that" She pleaded. Her words erased Takumi's smile. "Why?" She asked Nagami. "Just... just don't... I don't want..." Nagami looks for the words to say. "Or I will be mad, okay?" She looked away in a hurry. "Huh?" Takumi turned to her confused. She heard a muffled laugh at the end of the bar and saw Mariko covering her mouth. "I, I can't..." With Mariko's laugher, Takumi couldn't hold hers and bursts out of laugher in the silliest way. Nagami quickly looked and saw her tearing up in laughing. "What?! You!" Nagami grabbed her close with her collar, and Takumi hugged her once she got close. "I was kidding" She spoke in the softest tone, taking everyone by surprise.
"And Thank you" She said. Nagami froze. "It's tempting, yeah. But I know it's a bad idea. I will never do that. I will never turn against this silly organization. I made so many friends and changed my life completely" Nagami slowly returned the hug. "And I value every people I met throughout my time there" Takumi slowly parts herself from Nagami. "You know, I was an introvert once. When I was still living normally in our countryside" She smiled. "I used to be a quiet child. I avoid people as much as possible. I always agree on them just so I can be on my way quicker" She giggled. "Even if they call you flat-chested?" Nagami chuckled. "Who the fuck teases a child with their breast?" Takumi shouted. "You literally meant child?!" Nagami raised her voice. "Of course! Also, you touched them before, I'm cup B!" Takumi sighed. "Somehow, I didn't learn how to socialize during my kindergarten and all that" Takumi replied and Nagami shook her head. "Despite that, there are still a few people who care. When I started elementary, I gained loyal friends and I guess that's how I learned to tolerate some people" She said. "You weren't too late, though. You made it before you mature, that's all that matters" Nagami shrugged.
"Huh, you think so?" Takumi smiled. "Guess I just didn't have that boost start" She added. Everyone already had their dinner done by now, but no one stood up. Their never-ending conversation kept them glued together for a while. Two of Nagami's crew on the right side of the bar were talking about the village. "How if the Red Mosin in command just attacked like how Shichiro did in Tsuchiya?" Satomi asked. "AFAIK, no one used magic during Tsuchiya, we have Takumi and Chiho here" Natsuki responded. "Then they use magic as well. It will be the best fight in the history of this earth" Satomi replied back. "But Takumi has those powers from Kumori, though" Natsuki whispered but loud enough for them to hear. "Mariyou and Shichiro just had to team up, you know?!" "Yeah, I know right?!" They both laughed out loud.
"They're quite close, aren't they?" Chiho smiled awkwardly. Takumi and Nagami were looking at them in the corner of their eyes. They looked bothered. "And they talk loud. They might scare people behind us" Chiho added. "Gonna do something, Nagami?" Takumi bumped her with her shoulder. "I don't know..." She sighed. "What?" Takumi whispered angrily. "This isn't the first time they're being like that" Nagami shook her head. "Partly the reason I guess is they came from Shichiro's world. They are those noisy teenage girls. I don't get along with them that much" She said. "Oh? They are my nemesis as well" Takumi and Nagami smiled at each other.
Suddenly, someone stormed in again. The door loudly opens and bangs against the wall. A soldier with a rasped breath shouts. "Aggressive enemy presence in Kosunjin-Yi! Call Chiho and gather at Gentaro-sama's" He didn't see them sitting in the bar as he mostly focused on catching his breath. He ran away without closing the door. The Inn quickly fills with worried uproar. "They are attacking at night?!" Chiho shouted. "Wonderful. It should be Maeru. Shichiro could have ordered her to" Takumi glanced at Nagami. "Great, just... great... Hey, hey! You heard the guy, finish up! We're going now!" Nagami turned to her crew and alerts them. Everyone hurried up to change their usual clothes. They rushed towards Gentaro's place right away.
On the outside, they can hear the distant explosions coming from the Kosunjin-Yi's direction. "Shit! They're into it! Chiho! We're going there NOW! There's no time for briefing and all that shit! We don't know how Maeru does it yet! We will fill you once you are there!" Takumi and her group part ways from Chiho's. "Alright..." Chiho stopped and faced them. "Hold on. We're teleporting there!" With that said, everyone held tight. They disappeared from the spot and appeared inside the building.
There were five commanders gathered in the middle of the front hall and they were surprised by their abrupt appearance. "Ah, Chiho! They are attacking the Kosuns! They're coming not from Tsuchiya's direction, but from the sea!" Gentaro said. "The sea?!" Mariko looked genuinely surprised. "Yes. They have reported fires coming from the sea, their forces came from there as well! East of Kosunjin-Yi is the sea. It's not far, but their troops at the top of their walls can't clearly see what's going on out there. They see flashes and hear gunfire. It's those sea vehicles!" Gentaro said. "The Kosuns also recognized the woman with white hair. That's definitely Maeru Shigawa" He looked nervous as he gives the news. "Be careful, Chiho. It is also said that she uses magic often" He said with a deep sigh. "Okay..." Chiho was shaken as well, but she tried her best to stay cool. "Other than that, it's just guns and their vehicles. If you can, prioritize the gunfires from the sea. It's tearing up the village... Good luck!" Gentaro didn't waste any time and immediately focused back on the five commanders.
"Do you think you can teleport us there?" Mariko asked. "I, uh..." Chiho checked herself and she is lightly struggling to breathe. "I guess so... But I might take a while to recover" She nodded. "Ayumi..." She took Ayumi's left hand. "Don't be reckless out there. Maeru is out there and we don't know how she does at combat. She might finish you once she got the opportunity" An image of Maeru appeared from Chiho's mind as she mentioned her name. "Don't be fooled by their friendly faces..." She muttered. "Let's go!" She focused all her energy and took a deep breath while her friends gather. Once done, Chiho immediately cast them away from the building.
Quick chapter right here :) I really should start reading back every whole chapter I type. I always apologize for mistakes ^^;
