These beasts are really quite something. Even when I brazenly drank their water they didn't show any reaction at all.
I wonder if they even have any senses of their surroundings? My senses have been trained from years of running and camping out in the wild. Of course, they've been dulled by the new body. Nevertheless, they are good enough for something like this.
Are they even alive? I don't know how Ed's Appraisal works, but I really hope it can't get detected.
'Idiot Host, my Appraisal can't be detected by any means available on this planet. At most, maybe one of the gods could.' (Ed)
'Welp, thanks for clearing that up! Why didn't you say so at the beginning?' (Daniel)
'You never asked.' (Ed)
Let's just ignore Ed for now. I appraised the beasts, and I have to say, I've been an idiot for not doing so earlier.
[Tri-horned Tiger – Status: Deceased
Killed by a Blue-mane Lion.
Eating the flesh of this Tiger can improve VIT slightly.]
[Blue-mane Lion – Status: Deceased
Killed by a Purple Death Scorpion.
Eating the flesh of this Lion can improve STR slightly.]
[Purple Death Scorpion – Status: Deceased
Killed by a Blue-mane Lion
Eating the flesh of this Scorpion can improve DEX slightly.]
Three beasts, all dead! I wouldn't have wasted time sneaking around them if I knew they were dead!
'Ed, is it normal that I get bonus attributes from eating beast flesh?' (Daniel)
'According to my database, you are the only on this planet that can do so. In fact, it's because I am here to regulate and absorb the miniscule amounts of energy left in their flesh that you can do this at all.' (Ed)
'Huh. Then I guess you aren't all show then. By the way, I have 5 lottery chances, right? When can I use them?' (Daniel)
'You can use them anytime. Would Host like to use them now?' (Ed)
'Just call me Daniel, not Host. And yes, I'll use them now.' (Daniel)
'Confirmed. Spinning lottery…' (Ed)
[1 x Utility Magic (Skill)
5 x Mana Potions (Common)
5 x Health Potions (Rare)
1 x Mithril Longsword (Unique)
1 x Orichalcum Dagger (Rare)]
'Congrats, Daniel! You also unlocked two new features. Your inventory and currently equipped gear will now also show up when you view your status!' (Ed)
Reading the list of lottery items again, I was really excited. Mithril! The legendary fantasy metal! I have to say, the mithril in my first world was so scarce that I saw only a pinkie's worth selling for two Kingdoms! Someone paid with two Kingdoms for a tiny piece of mithril!
And now, I have not only a Mithril Longsword, I also have an Orichalcum Dagger!
I've struck the jackpot!
'By the way, Ed. What's with the Common and Rare stuff beside the items?' (Daniel)
'That signifies their rarity. Gear rarity ranges from Common, Uncommon, Rare, Unique, Legendary and God.' (Ed)
'So that means my Mithril Longsword is the most valuable of all my new items? How do I take it out?' (Daniel)
'Just imagine yourself reaching into space with your consciousness, similar to how you use Spatial Rings from your second life.' (Ed)
Ah! Now that Ed said it, it was really easy. Focusing my senses, I discovered a vast space, almost like a different world. In front of me were 5 blue bottles, 5 red bottles, a sword and a dagger.
The sword was exquisite. There was a rose ornament at the end of the hilt, and the guard was made into the shape of a dragon. Mithril supposedly conducts magic really well, so I'm guessing the entire sword is made purely of Mithril to make sure it maintains this characteristic.
How cool!
I reach my hand out, grabbing onto it. Back in the real world, the sword appeared in my hands.
I swung it around for a little bit to get a feel on its weight distribution. I guess my basic swordsmanship training from both lives really benefits me here.
[Swordsmanship LV1 learnt.]
[Swordsmanship LV2 learnt.]
What!? Just by swinging it around, I gained a new skill and levelled it up?
'Status!' (Daniel)

Equipment: Mithril Longsword (Unique), Cloth Shirt (Common), Hemp Shorts (Common), Hemp Shoes – Broken (Common)]
Woah! What's all this new stuff? The level is pretty self-explanatory, but it says my shoes are broken? They might be bad and old, but I don't think they're broken. I appraise them just to be sure.
[Hemp Shoes – Broken (Common): Normal shoes for everyday walking. Has a tear on the right sole.]
Holy! They even tell me where its broken! I take off my right shoe and inspect its sole. There really is a tear! This is awesome! With this appraisal, I don't have to worry about buying broken goods, and I can mostly fix up and maintain my own equipment!
Hahaha! I guess this is what's called self-sufficiency. While I did learn blacksmithing, armor-making and tanning in my past lives, I never could figure out the intricacies. I didn't have any levelling system either, so I had no idea how proficient I was! Now, I know exactly where to fix, and I can monitor my expertise. Perfect!
Anyway, let's inspect the rest of my lottery items.
[Utility Magic (Skill) LV1: Magic spells that help with everyday life.
Bonfire
Clean
New spells will be unlocked after levelling up.]
[Mana Potion (Common): Recovers a bit of mana upon consumption.
+20 mana after drinking.]
[Health Potion (Rare): Recovers a substantial amount of health upon consumption.
+50 health after drinking.]
[Mithril Longsword (Unique): A longsword made entirely of Mithril. The rose represents chivalry, while the dragon represents strength. An ideal knight's sword.
By channelling mana into the sword, the wielder can increase its sharpness.]
[Orichalcum Dagger (Rare): A dagger made from the strongest material known to man. The forger has mediocre talent, so the grade is Rare. No special characteristics apart from its sharpness.]
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" (Daniel)
I've really struck a fortune this time! First, I found the Holy Spring Water. Next, I found three dead beasts that can increase my attributes. After that, I got two extremely strong weapons!
Combined with my Bone Manipulation, I can fully equip myself at no cost at all! This is the best!
Now that's out of the way, I can finally start making a base.
There are no trees around in the desert, so I'll have to make do with covering myself.
Taking my new Orichalcum Dagger out of my storage, I proceeded to gut and skin the three beasts. The Scorpion's shell should logically be really hard to penetrate, but my Dagger went through it like a hot knife through butter.
The shell went into my inventory, while I started tanning the furs of the Tiger and the Lion. I also drained the blood from the meat I carved from their corpses. I don't know if my inventory will drain it automatically, but I'd rather not have my precious items smell bloody. This time, Ed did not respond. I guess he must be busy.
The tanning process barely finished when the sun was about to go down, and by then I had gained a few more skills.
[Dismantling LV2 learnt.]
[Tanning LV2 learnt.]
I'll leave the Bone Manipulation to tomorrow. For now, I'll check my status again and then go sleep.

3rd chapter for the day.
Gacha was completed, and a little bit of explaining the levels and gear grades.
Getting stronger will happen soon (tm).
