Capítulo 3: The first Step

The searing heat and the sounds of some woman screaming. These are the things Brom first noticed. Then he saw that he was in a home, and it was on fire. Brom tried to do something but he couldn't.

"Nooo!! Mom! Don't let them take me!" Brom screamed, but it wasn't his voice... it was the voice of a child.

He felt himself being dragged away, and his vision blurred, his head turned and he saw three elves in golden armor.

One had out a sword and was stabbing a man.

One was shooting flames and burning the woman alive.

And the other was dragging him away.

Brom saw all of this and couldn't do anything about it!

"Argh!" Brom shouted as he swung at... nothing. . .

He was back in his room, in the inn. He sat back against the wall and held his head. He couldn't figure out what that was, was it a bad dream? No, it felt too real, it must have been a memory. The only memory he has of this life.

He saw his family get butchered as he was dragged away by the Thalmar!

Brom was able to recognize that golden armor from the game.

For some reason, he was target by those dam elves as a kid! But why were they after him and what happened later, these were the questions on his mind.

Not able to return to sleep Brom got up and got dressed. He picked up the mead he left there last night and downed it all. He needed to go clear his head.

Brom headed downstairs and outside the inn. The sun was just starting to rise, casting long shadows. He walked back towards the main gates and looked at the poster board. He needed a distraction and gold.

There, he saw a bounty for some bandit leaders head in a place called Halted Stream Camp. He remembered that place from the game, a small bandit encampment not too far from here.

The perfect distraction.

Brom took the bounty and started his walk, he exited the city and headed north to the camp, judging on the size differences this real world was at least a 10:1 scale. So this trip would take him most of the day. If only he had a horse.

-8 hours later-

Brom arrived at a hill near the camp, the camp was bigger than in game too. It had a makeshift wooden wall made of sharpened logs surrounding the entrance to a mine. There was one gate, with three watchtowers, two archers and one mage. No telling how many behind the walls.

This would be Brom's first real test of might. He laid down in the grass and started thinking of a plan.

He knew for a fact how to cast a simple healing spell and flames spell; he had read those tomes in the game and more than likely had trained with both in this life. He knew how to use the sword and bow, but he didn't have a bow with him. These few things were plenty. Brom smiled, this was going to be fun he thought.

-Hengul's Perspective-

"Fire! There's a fire near the forge!" Someone was yelling fire; dam idiots can never do anything right thought Hengul.

He started running towards the fire along with everyone else and their 3 mages.

"Hey! mages start freezing that!" Hengul barked some unnecessary orders. As the mages started casting frost spells to quench the fires, Hengul heard

"Help, we are being Atta ... Arg!" Someone was screaming near the gate!

There was now mass confusion as no one was sure what was happening. Everyone started grabbing weapons and running to different areas.

"Idiots! It was a distraction!" Hengul, once again, yelled more words of wisdom.

Hengul grabbed his battle ax and smiled, he needed some fun. He charged towards the gate passing the other bandits. As an orc, he was stronger and faster than them.

When he reached the gate, something seemed off. They were being attacked by... a... pack of Sabre cats?

Hengul shrugged, the fire was probably a coincidence.

"Die!" Hengul Charger with the rest of the bandits and attacked the Sabrecats.

As he was dealing with one, he'd see his allies, if you could call them that, getting torn to shreds and thrown around. Then circling and killing one.

They are so weak thought Hengul as he killed the Sabre he was fighting.

After some more minutes of bloody battle. Hengul looked around and noticed something, all the men were either injured, tired, or dead, and the mages were nowhere to be seen. They probably ran into the mine figured Hengul.

"Back to the camp! Find those mages who ran like cowards!" Hengul barked more orders.

The bandits all started jogging back into the camp when the first one yelled.

"They're dead! They are all de..ah!" One of the men got cut off before he could finish.

"What!" Hengul was furious, first the fire and now the cats, they were fooled twice.

Hengul charged with the rest of his men and that was when he saw the cause of all of his problems today. A lone Breton warrior!

At first, Hengul couldn't understand how one man did all of this, then as the warrior danced through his men, killing them like they were standing still. He realized; this is a real fighter.

They started to surround him to pressure him and trap him. The warrior in his turn simply dropped his sword and spun with his hands out shooting flames and burning everyone near him.

This caused mass panic as men were screaming from being burned alive. The warrior had just turned this fight into an execution.

Burning with rage, Hengul charged with his berserker rage coming out, making him stronger and tougher.

As he closed in on the murderer, he swung his ax with full force, the Breton turned towards him and Hengul's blood froze. He was smiling!

Then the Breton ducked under the wild swing by Hengul and simply spun back around his sword following him and cutting the throat of Hengul.

As Hengul fell down bleeding out and dying he realized that he had just been killed without thought, he hadn't even stood a chance. As he sucked in his last breath, he felt angry at being tossed aside like nothing, and he felt small compared to the man who did it.

-Brom's Perspective-

Powerful, that was the only way to describe how Brom was feeling. He had just wiped out an entire bandit camp by himself. He realized something while he was doing it though. He had a long way to go before he was would be able to win these fights with impunity. To accomplish this feat he had to use two diversions, a fire on the far side of the camp from the gate and a wild pack of Sabre cats that he led to the camp. He also still needed to execute a sneak attack in order to deal with the mages. Still, it was a step in the right direction.

Now all he had to do was to kill the bandits in the mine itself and get the bandit leader's head to bring back to the jarls official bounty collector for his reward.

Simple,
