"Gi- Giselle! You- You really came!" Lillian stutters from the encounter.
All while waiting for Giselle, Lillian felt confident, but seeing her in person, Lillian wasn't mentally prepared to face the girl daringly.
"What a surprise, Giselle, seeing you here?" Lillian falters with her words poorly.
"Surprise? Are you insane?"
"Who was it that sent me a terrifying text of getting lost and being followed by some creepy guy?" Giselle yelled.
..
Giselle received non-stop calls from Lillian out of nowhere. Giselle knew that it is the school prom night and that everyone attending would be busy.
Despite it, Lillian Grey kept calling her.
Unable to answer it, Giselle thought she could avoid the calls somehow. But then, she received a text message from Lillian saying that she got lost while nearby her neighborhood along with a stalker who seems to follow her from the shadow.
After reading such a disturbing text, Giselle couldn't remain calm. Slowly, it got to her to the point where Giselle felt responsible if something happens to Lillian Grey. She dashed outside immediately.
..
However, seeing Lillian leisurely gaze at the sky, Giselle felt her blood boil in rage. It was no time for admiration, Giselle worried sick that something might happen as she raced her way here to meet the person casually spending time in a skateboard park.
"Do you have any idea what time it is right now?" Giselle fumed.
With every word from Giselle, Lillian seems to lose the ability to respond to her.
'What the hell?'
'Why can't I talk to her normally?'
Lillian felt going speechless for the first time ever facing Giselle. The confrontation of her own feelings for Giselle led Lillian to discern that she has fallen in love with this girl.
Who knew that suddenly it would be so hard to even talk to Giselle?
'Speak, Lillian Grey. Open your damn mouth and speak out!' – She forced her way out of the silence.
"Sorry, I did get lost."
Lillian's voice stutters, but she managed to overcome her hurdle.
"You have no idea how many routes I tried. In the end, I got a little scared and had to text you," Lillian explains to calm down Giselle, all while letting her gaze wander away from Giselle.
One second, even if it is merely a moment she looks at Giselle, Lillian gets flushed instantly, which causes her the ability to speak.
Usually, it is natural for Lillian to dominate Giselle with her talks, but right now, when she realized her grown feelings for this person in front of her, Lillian stammered like anything.
It was tough to meet her gaze, as well as respond at the same time.
'I was so late to catch it, but this is making me all nervous. I can't even look Giselle in the eye.'
Lillian swallowed these weird sensations she sensed. It was tender and comforting, yet the heart won't stay quiet and kept throbbing wildly.
"Why are you even here in the first place?" Giselle asks, cutting into Lillian's thoughts.
"Well, it doesn't matter anyway. Come, I will show you the way out of here," Giselle says as she turns to leave the place.
'What?' – Lillian snaps out of this unusual zone.
"Wait!!!"
She grabs Giselle and stops her from leaving.
"Wait, I-"
"I came here to see you- and I got lost somehow," Lillian says.
Giselle's eyes twitched from what she heard.
"See me, but- you should be at prom with Diego," Giselle said.
Lillian scratches her head shyly.
"I was, but somehow," Lillian falters again.
"But what happened?"
"Well, you happened," Lillian mumbled faintly.
"What?" Giselle asked as she couldn't catch what Lillian meant.
"Well, you were not able to attend the prom. I thought of visiting you and check if you are doing okay," Lillian answers this time, sugar-coating her answers smartly.
Giselle glowered from her response.
'Is she that dense? Coming all the way to see me, don't you know how I feel about you?' – Giselle thought while piercing straight at Lillian, who is still avoiding Giselle's gaze.
Lillian knows that she likes this girl, more likely, she has fallen for her. However, right now, Lillian wasn't ready to reveal her feelings, at least not like this, specifically, not in a place like a skateboard park. Gritting her teeth from being so unfortunate, Lillian chose to play the friend for now.
"As you can see I'm still breathing, you can leave, it is getting late. You shouldn't be lurking in the streets dressed like that!" Giselle said and took a glimpse of Lillian's attire of the night.
Giselle found herself getting drawn into seeing her in that outfit more and more.
'What the hell is she wearing?'
'Was she like this with Diego?'
Giselle secretly burned in jealousy. It only made her look more pissed off in reality.
"For one, Yes, I know you are still alive. Two, I am not lurking but waiting. Three, this dress is-"
Lillian paused while taking a look at her dress and then at Giselle.
She smirked within.
"By the way, how do I look in this dress, Giselle?" Lillian asks, startling Giselle.
She flinched at once.
Lillian's hidden sneer only grew from watching Giselle react.
"Why are you asking me?" Giselle pouts as she answers, strongly averting her vision away from the enticing red-dress.
'Crap, she is blushing, so cute,' Lillian controlled herself from bursting into laughter.
Surprisingly, Lillian's nervousness disappeared as she found her way back to teasing Giselle. Besides cornering the girl with her questions, Lillian did insist Giselle on commenting about her looks. After all, Lillian wanted to know if she appears attractive to Giselle's eyes.
"Come on, tell me, I won't laugh," Lillian pleaded earnestly after continuously poking fun.
Giselle buzzed as she shyly glanced at Lillian.
One glance at Lillian Grey, Giselle heard the loud thumps, clearly from her end.
"You look good," she grumbled under her breath.
"What? I can't hear you!" Lillian played along.
"You look good," Giselle replied, but still, Lillian acted as if she couldn't hear it.
"Ah, fine, you look absolutely dead gorgeous tonight. I can't take my eyes off you even for a second. Are you satisfied now?" Giselle finally admitted.
'Goal!' – Lillian felt rejoiced. Her grin widens while the lips seal tightly from the compliment. The amount of joy solely from hearing single praise from Giselle could make Lillian Grey happiest in the entire world.
"Thanks," she greeted, still holding in the grin.
'Stupid, Lillian, playing with me so heartlessly.' – Giselle groaned to herself. Her reddened face appeared like a cherry tomato, only adding the radiance to it.
Giselle felt annoyed with her own feelings for the first time. She got irritated by how defenseless she could be in front of Lillian.
"I answered your question right, now let's leave right away," Giselle announced much to frighten Lillian once again.
"Wait- Giselle," Lillian stopped her yet again.
"What? Why aren't you leaving? Diego must be waiting for you, right?"
The words did sting herself, but Giselle didn't want to put herself in a position where she could have hope. If Lillian wants to tease and have fun, let her be. However, Giselle doesn't want to give herself any chance of expectations. All she could believe in was time to heal her and wish that these lingering feelings for Lillian to disappear.
***
Giselle felt like hurting herself with every second she spent with Lillian.
"You came to see me, and you did. Now, go back. I don't want Diego to misunderstand. You should be with your partner, not me," Giselle firmly spoke.
Lillian's happy grin slowly turned dull as she got stung by those words. The fact that she left Diego is to meet Giselle, and yet this girl here is forcing Lillian to return.
"What are you saying? I told you, right. I don't care what the time it is. I am here to see you," Lillian protested.
"Plus, I already notified Diego that I'm leaving for the night. Therefore, it doesn't concern him what I do after that."
"I already danced with him for a million songs. We enjoyed the party at school. It was sure fun, but I got tired of it already."
Lillian's statement came as a shock to Giselle. She was left speechless and didn't know how to react.
After explaining herself, Lillian shifted her gaze to look around and check if there's something she could do with Giselle. After all, she ran from the event to meet and hang out with her.
..
The street lights were still on, and Lillian noticed cafes to the right of the skateboard park. To the left, there were only apartments and houses with rare outlets. However, the other side has numerous places to hang out with friends or lovers.
"Alright, it's a date."
Announcing it out loud, Lillian checks herself for a moment. Except for her mobile, she had nothing including her wallet, which plays a vital role for a date.
All of her moods dropped low in an instant. She felt more than worse.
'Somebody kill me for being such an idiot.' – Lillian cursed herself.
'Alright, I can't let this ruin our moment here,' – she decided.
"Giselle, do- Do you happen to have any cash with you?" Lillian asks hesitantly.
Giselle blinks. She checks herself to find her wallet, but only then it hits her.
Giselle carried nothing as well. She even left her mobile at home while rushing out to meet Lillian Grey.
Both Lillian and Giselle stood facing each other with a dreary expression painted on their faces. None carried a wallet. Without money, they can't go on a date.
Lillian sighed.
"This is such a bummer. Well, we can't help it either. We both rushed out to see each other."
Giselle didn't respond but remained wordless.
..
"Well, that is for good, let's leave, if there's nothing to do," she spoke after a prolonged silence.
"Who said there's nothing, as long as we are together, there is always something we can do," Lillian declared proudly.
"Like?"
Lillian looked around again, desperately seeking to find something that will inspire her to go on a date with Giselle, but there was none.
Nothing sparked her interest.
'What a sore day to celebrate on discovering my love?' – Lillian doomed her misfortune.
As she sulked alone while keeping an eye on Giselle from leaving, Lillian remembered something.
'That's right. I can do it.' – Lillian recalled.
