Lillian Grey heard Giselle confessing her love. It took her back leaving in shock. It is the first time for Lillian. Although she's in her high school, Lillian Grey never cared for 'falling in love.' The reason behind it was because she hasn't met anyone who made her feel that way.
However, the least she could expect it to be a guy who'd propose her.
But, the reality is quite the opposite.
It is a girl who's in love with her.
"Is this a joke or a prank you're trying on me?" Lillian charged in anger.
According to Lillian, she can only imagine all this to be an act for others to play on her. She couldn't believe or trust Giselle's confession at first.
"What?" Giselle got worried.
Of course, this was an impromptu decision to confess her love. But, it made Lillian angry, Giselle felt the need to clear the misunderstanding. The last thing she wants is for Lillian to hate her. So, Giselle decided to clarify her feelings completely.
"It's not a prank."
"You might think it is, but it's not."
Lillian Grey noticed Giselle's firm face. She could feel the impact on her voice.
'She isn't lying.' - Lillian thought.
"I know it's sudden, but this is no prank for me to play with you."
"I'm in Love with you, Lillian Grey."
"Love?" "As in?" Lillian asked dubiously.
Giselle bit her lips shyly. Her fingers still interlocked with each other.
She took a deep breath before speaking.
"Love, as in, I'm IN LOVE with YOU, romantically." Giselle's eyes faced down on the floor.
"ROMANTICALLY!!!" Lilliam exclaimed.
Giselle's words pierced into her heart. She felt all of her strength losing hearing to every single word coming out of this girl's mouth. It is the first time Lillian's ever felt this way. However, she couldn't see herself returning this girl's feelings. The only solution is to let her go without any heartbreak.
"Giselle, right?" Lillian exhaled loudly.
Giselle looked at Lillian. Her blue eyes met with the hazel brown ones, waiting impatiently.
"yes," Giselle gasped.
Her heart raced every second. Giselle knew whatever the result is going to be that she would accept it. But, in the corner of her heart, she ached for Lillian to reciprocate her feelings.
"I'm sorry if I ever gave you that impression." Lillian started speaking.
"But-"
Before she could say another word, Giselle's eyes welled up in tears. Lillian noticed. With a heavy heart, Lillian Grey spoke.
"I don't know you, but I'm sure that you must have seen me in the past and had fallen for me. I get it, your feelings. However, I can't return them." Lillian explained.
"Is it because I'm a girl?" Giselle's tears piled up.
"Being a lesbian has got nothing to do with it. It's just that I don't feel that way with you."
"I'm grateful, but also, I'm sorry." Lillian declared.
Giselle controlled herself from crying. She nodded quietly and then walked away.
"Giselle?" Lillian called.
Giselle stopped. She didn't turn to face Lillian.
"You are the first person ever to love me in this way. I don't hate you, but I also don't-" Lillian's words interrupted.
"It's alright." Giselle's voice reached Lillian, who's standing behind her.
"You should like someone who can be with you. Don't waste your time on me. I'm not interested in having a relationship." Lillian advised.
"That's not for you to tell me what to do. My feeling for you will never change." Giselle shouted.
It surprised Lillian but what's interesting was what's coming next from Giselle.
"You are the first person I loved too. I was prepared to get turned down. But I never knew getting rejected would be this painful as I've held feelings for you a long time. I'm sorry."
"It is stupid of me to do this. I thought I'm going to explode if I don't do it. And that's why I wanted to convey to you my true feelings. You don't have to stress out. I'll be fine."
Lillian felt a throbbing pain on her chest as she saw Giselle's face turned towards her while she said those words.
'I'll be fine.' - Giselle's words echoed in her mind.
Soon, Giselle went away leaving Lillian in silence. She walked back home that day with a heavy heart and an unstable mind. All she could think was this random girl who had disturbed her peaceful high school life.
