Just as Gun returned from his conversation with the doctor in charge of Yeo Ri, several unknown men stood in front of Yeo Ri's room.
"You can't do this," the nurse blocking the door says to the men, her tone distressed. "The patient has just woken up and is in no condition to be giving testimonies. Officers, please return."
"Please, miss. We won't take long—just a few minutes," one of the men pleaded.
"No—" the nurse's brows jumped as she noticed Gun. "Ah!"
Gun walked over to the group. He glanced at the men, then turned to look at the nurse, "Is there a problem, nurse?"
Before the nurse could reply, one of the men cuts her off, "Ah, you must be the younger brother. Can we have a moment?" His eyes flashed, recognising Gun from the case file.
Gun frowned imperceptibly. "Why? In regards to my testimony, I've already given one."
"No, well—" the man laughed sheepishly, showing that he meant no harm. "We just have a few questions, is all."
Gun sighed. The men were stubborn. "Fine. But not today. My sister just woke up and she needs me."
"That's fine, that's fine! We can schedule for another time," the man conceded. As long as the two agreed to testify, it didn't matter whether it was today or tomorrow.
After the men left, Gun accompanied Yeo Ri who had fallen asleep.
With nothing to do, he took out his phone and informed a few people who knew about the situation that Yeo Ri had regained consciousness.
Unsurprisingly, his phone was bombarded with calls afterwards.
Afraid if waking Yeo Ri up, he went outside to answer them.
The first to call was Hwang Se Jin.
After finding out about Yeo Ri's situation, he had been the first to act. Thanks to his quick thinking, Yeo Ri's life was still intact. For that, Gun was very thankful towards him.
"Se Jin-ssi," Gun greeted.
"Gun! How's Yeo Ri? Is she okay?"
"Mm. She's a little out of it, but she seems... fine."
Hwang Se Jin breathed a sigh of relief, "That's good. I'm glad. Good for you, Gun-ah."
"Thanks, Se Jin-ssi."
Then, another call comes in. Gun excused himself and hung up on Hwang Se Jin before picking up the next call.
"Oppa?! Is it true that Yeo Ri is awake?!" Min Chae's loud voice boomed.
Gun winced, but did not complain. The girl had been worried sick ever since she found out that Yeo Ri had been sent to the hospital through the news. She had visited them on the first day Yeo Ri was hospitalised, but because of the graveness of her injury, Min Chae had been unable to see her friend.
"Yeah. I think you can come visit in a day or two."
"Really?!" She sighed, sounding as if she had released a burden, "I'm so, so glad..."
Gun smiled. He was glad that Yeo Ri had a good friend like her.
"Sorry, Min Chae-ah. I have to answer another call."
"Mm. Talk to you soon, Gun-oppa."
Once again, Gun picked up another call.
"Lee Gun! Yeo Ri is awake? How is she?!" In Guk's relieved yet frantic voice cried out.
"Yeah. She's... better."
"That... that's good," In Guk muttered, sounding as if his whole body had finally relaxed.
"Hey, give it to me," Jin Goo's voice said. The sound of rustling could be heard as the phone was taken by Jin Goo.
"Gun-ah, we'll come visit tomorrow. Take the day off; we'll take care of her," Jin Goo offered. He hesitated for a bit before continuing, "Go visit your brother. He should know about this too. His attorney is going to visit him tomorrow, so you should come with. Last time I saw him, he looked a little crazy, so maybe telling him about Yeo Ri would pacify him for a bit."
"..." Gun pursed his lips. "...Yeah. Okay."
Jin Goo sighed before softly saying: "...Hey. It's going to be fine, Gun. Everything will be fine. We'll all get through this." Then, he hung up.
