Their faces were pale and bore a grim expression. Like one a person would have at a funeral. But moments after they had seen her eyes flutter open, the mood in the room lightened considerably and their faces, which were stiff and stony, relaxed.
Lu AnLing was going to speak. She was going to ask why they had all gathered. She had just fainted. She didn't expect everyone to come see her. But suddenly, three little children crawled up into her bed. Their eyes were red and glossed over and residue tears stains would clearly be seen at the sides of their cheeks. Seeing this, Lu AnLing's heart broke and her face twisted to show this.
She touched their cheeks one by one wiping away the stains of tears on their faces and then she kissed each of them.
"Don't worry about me. I'm fine..." she said. But after saying this, something flashed across her mind and she touched her stomach questioningly. It didn't hurt. She felt completely fine. Just slightly groggy...
Thinking this worried her so she turned to the closest person, which just happened to be her mother and gave the woman a questioning look.
Lu Xiaoling nodded and said, "Everything's fine. The baby is growing well. You just need some more rest..."
Truly, Lu AnLing had fainted from shock. The moment when she had seen the car speeding towards she and Kang Jun, Lu AnLing momentarily broke. She was prone to being unlucky and so, she thought that after all the luck she had had, this was a kind of exchange. But she didn't want to lose her life, or her babies life or Kang Jun's life.
Lu AnLing remembered clutching onto Kang Jun and her stomach as the car speedily approaches them. Her stomach and muscles had contracted bracing for impact but when the impact didn't come, and after a small while if realization the relief had taken hold of her.
Thinking about her husband, Lu AnLing unconsciously looked around.
"W-where's Jun?" As Lu AnLing said this she realized how raspy her voice was. Her throat was so dry it burned.
As soon as she said this, Kang Jun walked into the room and said, "I'm here."
The man's face was dark and cold but his eyes when he looked at Lu AnLing was bright and beautiful. He was glad to see his wife awake but at the same time it was obvious that something was slightly wrong.
Lu AnLing beckoned to Kang Jun to come by her side and the man did as she had asked. Once he was by her side Lu AnLing leaned herself on the man.
They stayed like that for a while and the family stayed for a while also but after a small bit, Lu AnLing had dismissed them. They couldn't stay with her all this time after all.
They all agreed and left. However, before the Kang's left Kang Jun spoke.
Only Elder Kang, Mo Ruyi and Kang Mu were there.
"Tonight, I'm calling a meeting." Kang Jun said simply despite his wife and children being in the room. Even Lu Yuxi was there because the little girl did not want to let go of her mother.
Elder Kang frowned. "What's going on?"
From the door, Elder Tang and Tang Bingyi, who waited for Elder Kang to go home, had heard what Kang Jun had said also and they themselves wondered what problems had arisen.
After looking at his wife and children for a small bit, Kang Jun turned and looked towards Elder Kang. "I'll explain at home. Grandfather, please contact my brothers and bring Qiao Lan and Feng Zhengyi home."
Usually, to be polite, Kang Jun would have called Feng Zhengyi Grandmother but there was no need for politeness. The old woman was a stranger to him. They had nothing that connected them; not blood or love of any sort.
Kang Jun was going to end all his problems that night.
Elder Kang was curious about what was going on and so were Kang Mu and Mo Ruyi but none of them asked a question. kang Jun's face was dark and they did not want to push a button which would trigger the man's wrath and so, they left.
Once they were gone it was only Kang Jun, Lu AnLing and the three kids in the room together. For a while, it was quiet and Lu AnLing it the kids knew what to say. Kang Jun had a sort of faraway look in his eyes which caused Lu AnLings heart to tighten.
After looking at his face for a while, Lu AnLing brought her hand to Kang Jun's head and brushed his hair to the side.
Feeling this, Kang Jun flinched slightly. He then turned to look at his wife guiltily.
Seeing this look, Lu AnLing frowned and she said, "is there something you want to tell me?"
After hearing this, Kang Jun's face became grim. Without saying a work, Kang Jun reached to hold his wife by the waist and then he stroked her belly gently.
"I'm so sorry..." Kang Jun started.
At first, Lu AnLing frowned and said, "Why are you sorry? You have nothing to be sorry about..."
But after hearing this, Kang Jun shook his head. Truly, he regretted not telling her that there was an possible attempt on her life and when he had found out that the reason was because of his grandmother and Rong Yue Wan, Kang Jun felt even more guilty that he didn't tell her. It was stupid of him to have done that but he had truly been worried about the baby. But it was only when Lu AnLing had fainted that he had realized that if he had explained it to her beforehand, Lu AnLing would not have ended up in the hospital. She was strong and he should have trusted that.
After thinking this, despite their children being in the room, Kang Jun told Lu AnLing everything he had hidden from her. Hearing this, Lu AnLing frowned and then she pinched Kang Jun's arm.
