Capítulo 253: I Don’t Need It

At her mansion, Lu Xia sat on her couch lazily, in an outfit which made her look like a hobo, but since no one was around she did not care.

She was reading a book, but her mind was on the events that had transpired at the Kang house. Lu Xia could not stop playing Kang Jun's words in her mind.

This caused Lu Xia to smile.

Without even fully introducing herself to Kang Liu Ran's parents she was accepted into the family...

She couldn't believe it but she was so happy. The Kang family was strange but Lu Xia was sure that with Kang Jun at their head, the Kang family would surely prosper.

Even though she was Kang Liu Ran's wife, she did not feel bad thinking this. Kang Liu Ran would make a great heir, that was true, but he was not as experienced or successful as Kang Jun in business. And this was because the boy had never failed...

Lu Xia knew this well. In fact, the only reason she was so smart and good at what she did was because she had failed time and time again... but she had been able to move on.

And business was something Lu Xia found more simple than her own line of work. This was because, In business, one failure did not mean death...

Lu Xia's expression went dark.

Suddenly her phone rang.

Looking at the phone number, Lu Xia frowned.

It was one of her friends who worked at the hospital nearest to the Lu family home. She had asked her friend to tell her whenever someone from her family went to the hospital. Though the woman never told her anything about the discussions between the doctors and the patients, even if they were family because that would be illegal.

"What happened?" Lu Xia asked nervously.

"My grandmother? Again... I'll be there." Lu Xia said as her face darkened.

She then grabbed her things before she walked out the door and drove straight towards the hospital.

It didn't take her long to get there. Once there, she was able to maneuver around the hospital easily.

She then walked down the hall.

There she saw her friend, a petite girl who looked much younger than Lu Xia but was much older.

"Where is she?" Lu Xia asked.

Her friend looked at her sadly and then pointed into the room.

Walking into the room, Lu Xia prayed nothing worse had happened to her grandmother since the last time she had been there.

Seeing Lu Xia, Grandma Lu did not know whether to smile or frown but instead of choosing between the two, she spoke to the doctor in front of her,

"Thank you very much, I'll be back sometime next week." Grandma Lu said.

After this, the doctor left. Seeing this, Lu Xia frowned.

"Did it get worse?" Lu Xia asked nervously.

"Just a little blood when I cough. No big deal." Grandma Lu said with a smile.

Hearing this, Lu Xia wanted to scream.

"No big deal? I told you last time, and I'll tell you again..." Lu Xia said coldly but her heart was beating so hard that she could almost feel her voice shake. "You have lung cancer. If you don't get surgery you will die because of it."

"If that's my fate, so be it." Grandma Lu said stubbornly.

Hearing this, Lu Xia was exasperated. She wanted to talk some sense to her grandmother but she had done that last time and it didn't seem to have done any good.

So instead, Lu Xia touched her temple and sighed. "Grandmother, many people love you, do you seriously want to put everyone through this?"

"Xia, I don't want to have surgery. That's final... now, I'm going home." Grandma Lu pushed herself off the bed and then walked towards Lu Xia.

Lu Xia: "Fine... but I'm driving you home. Even if grandpa will get mad if he sees me, I don't care."

Grandma Lu nodded and then sighed. " Do me a favor and tell your mother and father that there will be a family meeting in a few days... I know that Grandpa disowned you but I never agreed to it. You still have your inheritance, so I'm expecting you to come too."

"I don't need it!" Lu Xia grumbled.

Elsewhere, Tang Huian still tried to find the words to say...

Tang Huian: "Yian is alive..."

Lu Xiaoling looked at Tang Huian with disbelief. "You told me you had decided to let him 'be at peace'..."

Thinking of the day Tang Huian had told her that she was pulling the plug, Lu Xiaoling's heart was perturbed.

"I'm sorry... I thought everything was over. It seemed like all was lost but it wasn't... Yian is alive." As she said this, Tang Huian searched for a photo on her phone and then she passed it to Lu Xiaoling.

It was a family photo dated only a couple of weeks ago. Seeing this, Lu Xiaoling felt her throat dry.

As she looked up to Tang Huian with disbelief, lu Xiaoling said, "My daughter thinks her father died... and now you're telling me that he never died at all..."

Tang Huian did not say a word. This gave Lu Xiaoling some time to think. Many thoughts and memories eroded her mind and she could feel herself choke up.

Lu Xiaoling: "Is this his way of payback for leaving AnLing with him all those years ago?... Even if that's it... why would he hurt her like that? I left before AnLing could get attached to me... but he was truly, always her father. I know that he loved her."

Thinking of both Tang Yian and Lu AnLing, Lu Xiaoling felt bad. She knew she had affected their relationship due to her leaving but she never doubted that Tang Yian would be a good father... she just knew she wouldn't be a good mother.

But had she been wrong about him?

"Yian doesn't remember a thing... well... he remembers AnLing only partially but... I made a very big mistake..." Tang Huian felt as if she was going to be sick as she spoke to Lu Xiaoling.

Revealing the secrets that she had kept hidden all this time, Tang Huian was not sure if what she was doing was right or wrong but she had to confess her sins to someone, anyone, or else it would eat her alive.

"You found a replacement for AnLing... and it was your other niece..." Lu Xiaoling said coldly.

Saying this, Lu Xiaoling's face twisted. She then reached across the table and pulled Tang Huian by the collar.

"Is something wrong with your head? How could you have done that!" Lu Xiaoling said through clenched teeth.

"I messed up... I know..." Tang Huian said with her eyes filling up with tears.

Seeing this, Lu Xiaoling let go of the woman and sat down.

Lu Xiaoling touched the wedding ring on her finger and then she turned to look into Tang Huian's eyes.

"No. You didn't just mess up... do you know how many things could have been avoided if you hadn't told those lies!" Lu Xiaoling's head ached.

Thinking of the past, her heart began to ache also...

After her father had died, Lu AnLing had craved for someone's love. This was something Lu Xiaoling was unable to procure but her husband, could.

Father Lu was a good man. Despite knowing that Lu Xiaoling did not love him he continued to stay by her side. And despite knowing that Lu AnLing was the product of love between Tang Yian and Lu Xiaoling, the man did not treat her unfairly.

Like Lu Shuya and Lu Duyi, Father Lu thought of Lu AnLing as his own child. Often going out of his way to helping her but there were sadly certain things he could not involve himself in... like problems between cousins.

When Lu AnLing had fought with Lu Xinya, Father Lu was the first to defend the girl but it didn't matter because many had already made up their minds. But even so, Father Lu believed in her.

For this, Father Lu had been badmouthed by some relatives. After all, how could a man care about a child that was not his own, as much as he cared about his biological children? It made no sense to them but it was true.

After this, Lu AnLing had decided to keep her distance from the man... Though, either way, It was sad but Father Lu could never give Lu AnLing the kind of love she wanted to receive.

At many moments he had subsided her pain but after what had happened to him because of her, Lu AnLing only blamed herself...

It was only when Lu AnLing fell in love with Yang Yize that she had allowed something else in her heart to love.

Lu Xiaoling did not know much about Yang Yize but she did not like him for her daughter. And after what had happened to Lu AnLing thereafter, Lu Xiaoling had found out that she was right...

"What are you going to do to fix this?" Lu Xiaoling asked Tang Huian.

"I'm not sure... AnLing already knows... and she has already decided to deal with the situation herself..." Tang Huian said these words slowly.

Hearing this, Lu Xiaoling was shocked. She could only imagine how Lu AnLing felt about the situation...

Lu Xiaoling: "And I'm guessing you'll do everything you can to help her?"

Tang Huian hesitated as she thought of the future of the Tang family, but then, knowing that there was no other way, Tang Huian nodded.

Seeing this, Lu Xiaoling also nodded. She then took out another cigarette and said, "You know, I barely have any right to be angry at you. I've caused my own daughter so much strife... but that will end very soon..."

I see many of you got the postpartum depression thing. Sadly, many women experience this. I'm not really sure what the root cause of it is very real and very painful for all parties involved... If anyone experiences this, I pray that they can have a good support system in their life to help them through it and get some professional help. Therapy is nothing to be ashamed of. And in many cases, it's very good for general mental health!
