Jeff hugged himself, trying so hard to keep away the cold that was building inside him. The fire was still burning brightly, but the heat was not strong enough to drive away the anxiety widen him. He knew his life was complicated and was deemed to end in an untimely death, but he hadn't guessed it would be so confusing and hopeless. There was no way he was going to save anyone. Even if he tried to bring the people of Anadan back to earth, it would be suicide, not now that Zack was trying to unlock the prison of Lord Vortex.

"I must stop him," Jeff struggled up to his feet. This time there was strength in his limbs. The fatigue and the spinning vision have all vanished. But for the confusion, he was absolutely fine and okay.

"Stop who, exactly?" Kira elevated her gaze. 

Confusion also lined her face. It was as if she was afraid that Jeff was going to lose his balance and fall down like a heavy object. She was ready to catch him though.
