Capítulo 27: Magic weapon

"But if you have the skill as your base, on the other hand, you can do that more easily. As what I did 5 minutes ago is copying the basic water rune and execute it."

"Then, can I copy the entire rune in the library and raise my skill comprehension straight away?"

"If all the students are half as smart as you are, we would skip this lesson and just teach you some advanced stuff. *sigh* Yes, but there's a catch."

"All the skill that you have are unique even if two people have the same skill, their comprehension of the said skill would be different. For example, if I show you a picture of a river, one guy would say that the water flows beautifully while others might say, the fish swims freely."

"You can copy rune in the library perfectly with its meaning. But, it wouldn't affect your comprehension as you are merely copying it. Even if you understand the meaning behind each and its every stroke, it doesn't mean that you can capture the essence of why the creator of the rune does so."

"That's why in that world, master are respected so much by their students; the chance to inherit their rune, and receives a private lesson to help one understands the essence behind it is of great value. Are you satisfied with the answer?"

I decide to compile all the information first before I jump into interrogating her even further.

'I need to go back into the library to broaden my knowledge even more.'

"How can I use weapon such as book, orb, or wand to help me cast a spell?" Kana's question breaks my trance as I am analyzing the information I am getting so far.

"Well, a weapon for mage can help them in two ways; one helps them cast faster and others amplify the spell to be stronger. Each weapon has its own unique way of helping one achieve that.

"Most wands made of expensive and precious materials can help you amplify your magic. The materials that they used to make your wand would determine how the wand works. It's like adding a gasoline to a fire if you use the right material."

"Orbs are magical items that can help you control your mana. To cast a spell effectively, not only you need to understand the essence of your rune but you also need to control your mana to supply it with the right amount of energy. Too much mana then it will be a waste; too little then, the spell is failed. Too fast, then there's a risk of explosion; too slow and you're dead."

"Books can hold many inscriptions that can either amplify your spell or you can even just inscribe your spell rune so you only need to supply mana on your book to cast it."

"Doesn't that mean books are the best as they can do both, unlike the other two?" cut a bob haired girl sitting at the row in front.

"No, everything depends on the user. Although books can do both and more flexible, there will always be a catch. For someone who has a perfect control of their own mana wand would be the best as he/she can cast a stronger spell."

"For someone creative, orb would be the best as he can focus on modifying his spell on the fly without caring on how to control the mana. For books, although they can do both – amplifying and fast casting, without the correct rune, it can only help you bash an enemy's head with it."

"Although, I said so – if for some reason, you feel that the weapons are not compatible with you then just pave your own path. There's an example of orb user who use their orb to amplify their spell by oversupplying their rune with mana; so it would have more impact."

"Didn't you say before that too much mana is a waste?" the bob haired girl clarifies.

"As I said before, it depends on the person; that said person can modify his spell so the effect of his spell would depend on how much mana he supplies to his rune. Clear?"

"How can I inscribe a rune to my book? How many inscriptions can a book hold?"

"That question would be better if you ask Mr. Stan who is sitting behind you as he is also a mage class who use book as his weapon. You can ask him on the last 30 minutes of this class – for now, I think we should jump into practicing how to cast a spell. Even if you already learn the basics on how to have a real experience, it is still a whole different matter."

"Touche! I tried to summon a skeleton yesterday by following the knowledge that I have but it failed." James speaks softly but it reaches my ears.

"YOU TRIED TO SUMMON ONE YESTERDAY??? ARE YOU DUMB OR SOMETHING? What if you summon one and it suddenly attacks you? What if it explodes?" I mutter and glare at him as I struggle to keep my voice low because I can't shout in class. I try to speak loudly with my eyes protrude in an obvious way.

"Whoa! Whoa! Calm down, man. Aren't I Okay?" James smirks like he does not do anything wrong at all which annoys me a lot.

"Albert is right. It's dangerous to experiment on a spell that you have not mastered yet in the real world. I guess the government has not announced it yet but it would be banned and prohibited to use skill and spell that you have not mastered yet." Anna jumps in on our conversation.

James' face becomes a bit guilty but he still tries to wiggle his way out.

"But how can we improve then? If we can't train it then there's no way we can become a master. We will only become masters with theory."

"You can train in the game world and after you create a spell on your skill tabs. Only then, you can use it and train your skill and spell in real life." Ms. Layla catches us discussing and gives a clarification while other students are glaring at our little group of five.

"I'm sorry for causing ruckus. But can I ask another question? Does that mean I can't summon Luna because I have not mastered my puppet skill?"

"If you mean by Luna is the snake on your shoulder then that is okay. What I mean by mastering your skill is not having 100% comprehension on the said skill. It means that you can fully control a skill; for example, you can train most weapon skills in real life. Soul pets are a special case as somehow they considered it as a weapon skill, so it's okay."

"Magic related skill on the other hand. They are really strict with it so be mindful."

One of the harder chapter to write as I have to tread carefully so there is no inconsistency. Hope you like this one.
