"Parents with unrealistic expectations", Kai laughed. His parents always had unrealistic expectations. His grandfather wanted his son to become an engineer and Kai's father didn't listen to his father and became an artist as he had always wished to be. This was Kai's father's greatest regret.
Now, Kai's father wanted his son to become an engineer and fulfill his late father's wish. Kai's mother was a bookstore owner and the sole breadwinner of the family. She had taken a loan from the bank to buy the store. That's why Kai's family was under a bank loan. This was the reason Kai couldn't apply for a student loan.
Kai wanted to become a businessman and ride on his favorite Bugatti like that mysterious man but he was a hopeless coward. His parents had worked hard to pay his high school fees. He had also taken part-time jobs to bear his expenses. He understood his parents' efforts. That was the reason he was afraid to face them.
Kai started to cry, "How could I tell them that I got rejected?" He was crying alone on the bench under the streetlight. "Noah, Luca, and Maya must have gained admission to their dream colleges. I'm the only one who is going to be alone.", Kai murmured.
Luca and Maya were his childhood friends. Luca and Maya were the twin siblings. But they had different interests. Maya wanted to become a writer. She was going to take admission in literature. While Luca had an interest in computers and technology. Luca and Maya also belonged to a middle-class family.
They were family friends as well. Their mothers were the high school's best friends. The company where their father worked got some international deals and his father received a promotion. They became financially stable. But their friendship remained the same.
Noah became his friend in the high school. He was a silver spoon and belonged to the elite class. But he was not a bully or bad person. He had always helped and appreciated Kai. At first, they became friends because Kai was the class representative and in a group project, Noah was his partner.
Kai was afraid to approach Noah at first because of their class difference. But Noah was a friendly person. He was his best friend. The faces of his friends and parents revolved in Kai's mind. There was one more face that was revolving in his mind.
The face of his high school crush, Ava. Kai had always liked her. They had different majors in the high school. They had only compulsory subjects classes together. She was a friend of Noah and Kai had met her at Naoh's party.
She was an intellectual person. She was straightforward and smart. Kai had always liked her boldness. She had once beaten two girls in the class after they bullied her. In the end, three of them were suspended for one week. But after that, nobody had ever dared to approach her. Not a single guy had ever shown any interest in her despite her stunning beauty.
She rarely talked about herself and attended parties. Because of this, there were lots of rumors about her. That she had bad parenting, she was a spoiled silver spoon, she was homo and many more. Kai didn't have time to listen to those rumors and no reason to deny those rumors as well. She was a stranger to him.
They became friends on his second-year summer break. Kai was a part-timer in a cinema. She was also a part-timer there. But she was the daughter of the owner. She became Kai's friend there. She told him that she wanted to become an artist but her parents were pushing her to study the business.
The more time Kai spent with her the more he realized that she was so different from the rumors. She was a very good person. He had not realized when he started to fall for her. But he had realized his feelings soon after their classes resumed. After the summer break was over. Different rumors started to spread about them.
The rumor that hurt Kai most was that he and his parents were gold diggers who were playing with the daughter of a successful businessman to pay off their debt. This rumor started after Ava had told one of her class fellow randomly that she had visited Kai's house to meet his parents.
The real purpose of her meeting was to see his father's paintings as she was a fan of his paintings. But the rumors spread like wildfire and Kai ignored Ava as much as he could. Noah and his other friends advised Kai to not take those rumors seriously. But for Kai, his parent's respect and his self-respect were more important than his one-sided love.
Ava tried to talk to him countless times. But Kai told her directly to never approach him again. Ava apologized to him for the rumors and never tried to talk to him again. Kai felt a void in his heart after he had recalled these memories.
Kai opened that book again and started to read where he had left. Kai had a habit of starting the things, where he had left. He was very serious about books. He always read them in the order. He couldn't bear to read any spoilers or skip any chapter.
"If that's correct then keep reading this. We will tell you amazing hundred methods to take your life."
That was the end of first page. "Thats' all. Is this a joke? Just tell me the method.", Kai shouted. Kai tunred the next page. There was only two lines written on the next page. Kai wanted to peek at the next page as wel. But he couldn't becase of his childhood habit.
"Never tell a lie. The easiest and most admirable method to die is always speak truth. Look around how many people talk about injustice and speak truth. Less than ten percent*. And those people are first to die. If you want to die next. Always speak truth. Best of luck trying that method."
"What the hell is that? How is this going to help me die?" Kai shouted. "Is that's all?", kai looked at that page again. At the end there was written another line. Kai read it.
"*P.S. We don't know the source of the ten percent people. It is a practical experince of our experts panel."
Kai flipped the page. On the next page a single line was written in the centre of the page.
"Before reading next methods. Please try our first method. Hope you find this book helpful."
Kai closed that book. He hid it in his shirt. Kai tried to stood. But he realized the pain he was feleing. His whole body was injured and tired. He looked at the city filled with the lights. He moved on the opposite side of the glamours and shining city.
