Capítulo 14: Some things must be done

(A/N:-1400+ words)

As soon as Tony got home, he met Pepper.

Seeing the blood around Tony's mouth and nose, Pepper screamed in fright, "Ah... Tony, what happened to you? We need to get you to the hospital right now."

Tony reassured her, "I'm fine. I'm just stuck in this metal suit and can't get out."

"There's so much blood, how can you be okay? You don't want to end up dead, do you? I... ugh..."

Pepper couldn't hold back her tears.

Alex felt a bit helpless. Women love to cry, he thought, wishing for his own Black Widow, who wouldn't scream at every turn.

Ignoring Pepper's panic, Alex carried Tony into the underground laboratory, set him down, and let the robotic arms handle the rest.

With the help of the robotic arms, Tony finally escaped the suit and said to Pepper, "This is the delivery person I told you about, Alex. And this is my friend and assistant, Pepper Potts. You can call her Pepper."

"Thank you for saving Tony, twice," Pepper said.

Pepper, tall and wearing high heels, was almost as tall as Alex. She reached out to shake his hand, her eyes full of curiosity.

Tony trusted Pepper completely and never hid anything from her, no matter how confidential. Naturally, Pepper knew what had happened in the cave. Despite thinking it over, neither Tony nor Pepper could figure out Alex's intentions.

Pepper suggested, "I'm going to handle some affairs at the company on Tony's behalf these days. Why don't you stay here for a few days, Mr. Alex? We haven't properly thanked you yet."

Before Alex could respond, Tony interjected, "No, no, no, no. I like my peace and quiet, Alex. It's nothing personal."

Tony's preference for solitude was well-known. In his large villa, only Tony and Pepper lived, not even a servant. Usually, when Tony brought women home, it was Pepper who helped deliver clothes and take out the trash.

Pepper retorted, "Do you like peace and quiet, or do you like flying around and risking your life? If it hadn't been for Mr. Alex this time, you'd be dead."

"Anyway, I don't agree," she added firmly.

Alex said, "I happen to have a house to renovate, so I can take a look at your design. Pepper, please arrange a big room for me."

"No problem," Pepper replied.

Tony shouted, "Hey, hey... Do you still think of me as the master here? Forget it... Just don't arrange the room too close to mine; I like my peace and quiet..."

Pepper ignored him and arranged the nearest guest room for Alex. She worked tirelessly, fearing something might happen to Tony again. With Alex around, she felt much more at ease.

Alex didn't mind. Black Widow hadn't replied to his messages, so it didn't matter where he stayed. Here, he could also watch Tony build the Iron Man suit step by step.

Tony spent the whole day in the underground laboratory. Alex visited a few times and found it quite dull. Polishing a suit of armor was tedious work. The movies only showed the exciting scenes, but the actual development process was monotonous. Tony often didn't speak for an entire day, sitting in front of the computer, thinking and calculating.

After a few days, Tony finally perfected the Mark II model. The Mark II corrected all the flaws of the original Mark I. It was not only anti-freeze but also made of lighter and harder titanium alloy. The flight speed was greatly improved, and there would no longer be the embarrassment of crashing through the floor. To top it off, Tony officially painted his suit a striking gold and red.

With his masterpiece finished, Tony decided to go to a party to relax. He wanted to invite Alex, but Alex was busy with other things and wasn't interested in Western cocktail parties. So, Tony went alone.

At the party, a beautiful female reporter showed Tony some photos, revealing that Stark Industries was still selling weapons that were killing civilians. The location was a small town called Comilla in the Middle East. Just a few days after announcing the closure of the weapons division, this revelation was a slap in the face.

Tony looked grim. He returned home, found Alex, and asked, "Alex, is Eaten's hometown called Comilla?"

"Yes. Did you discover that a large number of weapons were sold without your authorization?"

"That's right." Tony was surprised. "How do you know about this?"

"That's not the point. The point is, have you really decided to destroy these weapons and rescue the civilians?"

Tony's body trembled. "How do you know what I'm thinking?"

It wasn't too surprising that Alex knew about the weapons. After all, an ordinary reporter could get photos. It didn't seem difficult for a mysterious and powerful person like Alex to know this information. What was alarming was that Tony's idea to destroy the weapons had just come to him on the way home. It was impossible for anyone to know about it, yet Alex did!

Who is this man? Could he read minds?

"Tony, it's not hard to guess what you're thinking. The key is, what will you do?"

Tony drank a glass of wine and said, "Some things must be done, or my conscience will never be at ease."

With that, he headed down to the underground laboratory. At this time, the suit was still relatively primitive. Wearing it required a set of mechanical arms, a complicated and time-consuming process.

After a few minutes, Tony donned the gold and red suit and walked up to Alex. "Don't tell Pepper."

Alex said, "Even if I don't, you can't hide it from her. Go ahead. If you run into trouble, call me."

Tony stopped talking and flew directly out of the window, disappearing into the sky. Flying at full speed, a white sonic boom cloud formed around the suit, first surrounding Tony, then quickly being left behind.

---

Alex wasn't worried about the situation in Comilla. Tony's suit was more than a match for the threats there. He destroyed all the Stark-manufactured weapons and eliminated the hostile forces with ease. Even the tanks were no match for his micro-missiles.

After clearing the area, Tony threw the leader who had massacred civilians in front of the terrified townspeople, letting them decide his fate. This was a test for the refugees. While their previous reluctance to resist was understandable due to survival struggles, Tony wanted to see if they would take action now that the violent elements were subdued.

The angry civilians quickly overwhelmed the leader. Satisfied, Tony flew back.

However, returning proved more challenging. The United States didn't strictly monitor outgoing aircraft but was vigilant about unidentified aircraft entering its territory. Not long after Tony arrived at the border, ground radar detected him.

Two F-22 fighter jets soon took off and began pursuing Tony.

After a chase, Tony's friend, Lieutenant Colonel James Rhodes, sensed something was off. The aircraft's style and technique were too similar to Tony's.

Rhodes called Tony: "There's a humanoid aircraft in my base's airspace. It can't be you, right?"

Tony, in his usual playful manner, replied: "How is that possible? I'm still taking a bath at home."

"That's good," Rhodes said, "because we're about to shoot it down."

A tracking missile was launched from one of the F-22 fighters. Tony quickly deployed dozens of decoy bombs to mislead it.

The missile hit the decoy bombs and exploded, creating a fireball in the sky.

However, another fighter clung tightly behind Tony, its machine gun spraying bullets. Tony's suit was hit in the back, making escape difficult.

Tony then had a flash of inspiration. He spread his limbs in mid-air, creating air resistance to suddenly stop and hide under the fighter plane. This maneuver only bought him a moment before he was discovered by the second fighter.

In the original plot, Tony called Rhodes, who eventually let him go. This led to Rhodes holding a press conference, explaining it as a military exercise where an F-22 was damaged.

But now, with Alex in the picture, Tony's situation had changed.

Alex soon received a call from Tony: "Alex, are you a prophet? How did you know I'd be in trouble on my way back?"

Alex laughed: "Hahahahahaha, let me guess. Two F-22 fighters, and you can't beat them, right?"

At this stage, Tony's suit was still relatively rudimentary. It had enough flexibility but lacked the speed and firepower to match the F-22 fighters.

"You're absolutely right. Come and save me, otherwise I will die for the third time."

"Hold on for a while, and I'll see what you have at home."

Alex looked around the hall, then jumped toward the American border with two medieval antique spears.
