I had the same reaction but I think author wasn’t able to coney properly or lost in tran*sla*tion.

DC universe got messed up because of WB leadership. They are old school folks who gained experience from stand alone movies OR unless it is a existing sequence based storyline like LOTR Triology, HP. So creating a Superhero universe is so out of norm for them that they shot down the idea whenever someone raised. On the other hand, Marvel studios did a good job by hiring new blood and wrote a blank check. Asked them to build a universe where they can incorporate more characters. Disney in general follows this template for their animated movies etc. So creating another superhero universe is not new to them. Hence they were easily able to digest the idea. When stakes of millions/ billions are involved, you wound so surprised how conservative the investors thoughts are. Now what scr*wed marvel is their parent companies investors. They were able to play with money to which they are not responsible for. Hence they created a whole circus show which blew in their faces. But the fallout is not as big as people expected.

Lionsgate model is a pretty good one. Their scalability is small but they break even on many of their low end films by releasing in either DVD format or OTT. Whatever movies they are confident in are given green light to theatrical release and earn small to medium profits. They won’t grow huge but they have cash flow to stay afloat.
