I can kinda get how the british might be a little skeptical. but only 9 ships were destroyed while the germans planted 12 bombs fixed to the bottom of the ships. the british should have deduced that the germans used divers to attach the bombs. also ships were regularly inspected by diver or dry dock. so them being completely clueless is kinda stupid.
