I think it's overrated because a lot of it ends up with the MC being too OP making the writer lose track of where to go when the MC can already defeat anyone with one hand tied, eyes closed, and while eating a sandwich facing an Outer God like Yog-Sothoth.
quite a lot of Alternate Universe and Fandom elements like the Nekomata Massacre for DxD and dumbledore is evil manipulative for Harry Potter but at least it's good enough to read with your brain turned off for every AU element here
why do many people still think the Nekoshuo massacre is canon in DxD it's Fan-Canon from the fanfic “a Demon lord hero by Fahad09” because if it's canon Rias, sona or all the Devil race will be banned and even killed on the spot if he sets foot in Japan since Nekomata is basically a people under the protection of the Shinto Pantheon on japan and destroying 1 supernatural clan race basically makes the Devil Race become Black-list to all supernatural on japan

that won't happen because the servants summoned during the Holy Grail War are not full Heroic Spirits but copies of the Throne of Heroes. MC can eat servants but will not get limitless Lifeforce from them, at most only above the average of the humans he usually eats.

My suggestion is just to have a story first before harem because many stories never progress since they are still stuck/too focused on the harem story rather than the story itself.
Also I still have no idea about harem or not harem I know that no matter what to do one sect will be dissatisfied or I could just not write romance at all but then I feel like most would be dissatisfied
