don't need to take action but you can just skip it... we already know what happens as for pacing..there's slow and then there's spending 1 chapter on MC's rebirth... then spending another chapter on a dead man's coronation... yeah he's not dead but he's of no consequence to the original story
The protagonist is still a baby and will not have any role in the war. This arc is meant to set the stage for the world he will eventually inherit. I know some of you might be expecting him to take action already, but that won't happen yet.
