The weapon was given to him in the shape of a Katana cause that's what he learned to use all his life. You can't just go from one weapon type to a completely different one without proper training. In truth, the Oathkeeper is a formless weapon crafted to suit any weilder. You'll learn more about it and it's counterpart 'Oathbreaker' later in the story. And thanks a lot for enjoying my story!
Thanatos put his hand to the side, and it vanished into the darkness. Then Thanatos pulled his hand back out, and Azrael saw the most beautiful katana he had ever seen sliding out from the darkness. The katana's blade was completely black, and it seemed to swallow all of the light around it hungrily. The hilt was blood red with white ivory stretched tight around it like a human ribcage. Azrael did not know it now, but he would find out later that the white ivory had been crafted from the bones of humans.

I wouldn't call him a psycho, he doesn't kill without reason. but as far as his powers go, I wanted to portray someone who is forced to struggle against both himself and the world around him. He will slowly come to terms with his own sins while also understanding the pain he causes to others in the pursuit of more power. I know it's not for everyone and I understand if you're not okay with it, but I wanted to make something completely different from SSS. Something that tests me and forces me to become better at portraying character emotion. Maybe later in the future, when I'm writing another book, I'll see you again, Tsunami. But until then, you'll remain one of my favourite readers.
