I think an improved arc reactor would work well for energy right now and maybe make like the thing from star wars or warhammer that encircles an actual star and gets its energy from that then he doesnt have to actually risk something happening directly on earth. although I'm not sure how he would get power anywhere near earth that way. well food for thought anyway
