I agree with you on how annoying a conscious system can be especially if it isn't helpful to the host. It actually feels like Im' reading a chinese fanfic with how similar they are with story progression and on how the MC acts

Hope you continue this story even if it's just edited MTL. You did a great job at making it readable.
The story seemed interesting until you read a few sentences. Don't know if English isn't the author's first language. But there are a lot of spelling mistakes, broken paragraphs or sentences, even chapters are painstakingly short, which doesn't even progress the story or add substance in some way. I'd recommend reading other works to see how they structure or outline their stories.
