So the warlord is extending this olive branch to Sylas simply because he has nothing to lose and the price, whatever it may be, is already paid/owed to someone else as a ‘favor’? In this case, Sylas might’ve somehow lucked out? In a world tainted with alien malice, he might’ve stumbled upon one of the few that aren’t immediately incentivized to exploit or enslave him one way or the other, obviously based upon his talent.

It’s weird that Ailsa perceived Ryu’s choice the way she did. Ryu definitely didn’t seem to be having any malicious of petty thoughts. It seemed more like he wanted to not let his relationship devolve further.
I for one hope Sylas doesn’t have the same type of poor streak as Awe’s other MCs when it comes to master-disciple relationships. There’s Ryu who might feel insulted if you even offer to take him in as a disciple, and Leo who is like venom to any organized establishment, seemingly even ones he has blood ties to. Don’t know much about Dyon, but considering who his ultimate foe was in the end…
