Here's an explanation for all this, I know my explanation is a bit late, but better late than never. Right guys. So here it is, the system of retaliation in self defence is only available for players below level 10 or newbie players. It is as such so that the new players can play the game smoothly without any worries as being newbie players they don't have any reputation that can help them in a situation where there name's turned red. As, for why blackie's and others names are red despite being the defenders is because after Level 10 all players enter their respective cities and are experienced enough to know how to earn reputation for themselves and also because killing players within a Kingdom/Empire's jurisdiction is forbidden unless you are a Noble of said Kingdom/Empire. Also, since it is run by Main God System AI, it knows that conflict between humans is not just only physical but mental as well. There are situation where a person can instigate another person in taking violent action just through words. In situation like this, it's hard to tell which ones's right and which one's wrong. So, this is the reason why the self defence retaliation system was revoked after players reach level 10 and above as the skirmishes between players only going to increase from this point onwards. The only way where a player's name doesn't change into red is when the said player has killed another in a neutral zone map or a map that is not within a Kingdom/Empire's jurisdiction.

Only a certain relationship noob has the ability to say that they can fall in love with a person in three days.
