Usually if a child, or a teen for that matter, isolates themselves by immersing into a game, book, comic or even sports or studies and shuts off everything else, there is a reason. It could very well be a coping mechanism for something (bullying, death of a close one, depression, crippling anxiety or anything, really). Forbidding the coping mechanism without addressing the cause could seriously mess them up, even up to causing them to become isekai protagonists. It's not something to take lighly.
