Stuart stood still, almost breathless with anger. The anger flared in his eyes as he glared at Cecil. He was stuck between the woman he loved and the little boy he despised. 'I've had enough of this boy. Beat him! Teach him a lesson!' His thoughts wouldn't leave him alone. They paralyzed him. He couldn't move. He couldn't control them, and he didn't want to.
Edie started to laugh, and her eyes sparkled merrily. "Now you sound like an adult. Is there nothing in you that is a child?" she joked.
Cecil waited for Edie to turn her head. Then he looked at Stuart with a spiteful grin on his face. "Are you sleeping with me tonight?" he asked.
Edie rubbed the top of his head and said, "Yes, I made you a promise."
